Is it on Listnook or some other social media app. I can’t find any actual hate posts scrolling the breaking bad sub but I see constant defense posts. And is it actual hate or just people not really liking her personality and it being called hate hyperbolically.
Edit: I’m talking about recent posts as in last few years not a decade ago for all the idiots mentioning it was on 13 years ago
It was definitely happening while the show was airing.
It's the classic thing for an audience to side with an anti-hero no matter how awful he gets, and side against any voice-of-reason characters who try to put the brakes on them.
As current politics shows...

Plus the classic audience thing of enjoying the interesting characters more than the boring ones.

Umm I see more posts criticizing the Satanic Panic than I do posts pro-Satanic Panic, does that mean it didn’t happen?

I haven’t been keeping an eye or anything, but at the very least the Skyler hate when BB was airing was off the charts, it’s definitely not made up I assure you.

I mean she was pretty annoying in how she acted, not that she was wrong

How so? Can you advise on what was annoying on her behavior?

Do you not recall her singing happy birthday? She does a lot of really cringe things lol

I… guess, I was hoping for something more specific that would warrant the vitriol that she got.

I just find her cringe, I don't hate her as a character. I mean her choices are mostly reasonable given she's married to a genius ego maniac meth cooker who murders people.

Show's been off the air for like 13 years, my man.

So why so many posts defending it now if it stopped 13 years ago?

Because Bryan Cranston recently did an interview where he defended Skylar and said he never understood the hate she received.

Bryan Cranston did a Hot Ones with Frankie Muniz to promote the Malcolm in the Middle revival- [this clip discussing Skylar](https://x.com/killakreww/status/2042689591396745559?s=46) became viral

People were literally [talking about killing the actress](https://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/24/opinion/i-have-a-character-issue.html) because of the character. It was WILD.

Frankie Munez just said he hated her and Brian explained the controversy on Hot Ones. It was totally a thing and was exhausting.

Back in 2013 she was the most hated character on television. Even more than any GoT character.

During the season run, I would see the hate on Twitter and I didn't even watch "Breaking Bad". I can only assume what was going on in the sub-listnooks and other forums.

I haven't browsed lately so maybe there isn't much hate now but I'm pretty sure I remember a lot of people really hating on her while the show was airing.
Obviously not everyone did but a lot of people did not like her character and thought some of what she did was bull shit. I'm not saying they're right or wrong btw. I'm just saying I'm fairly confident it happened at the time. Maybe not as much now when we've had time to think about everything and see the entire story as a whole.

It’s been gone quite a while now but it was absolutely everywhere while the show was ongoing. Consensus came back to its senses starting around 5 or 6 years ago it feels like

Back when the show was on, I can’t tell you how many times on this very site I got downvoted for saying Skyler was not a bad person. It basically came down to people arguing 1.) that everything Walt did was for his family, and 2.) Skyler cheated on Walt with Ted and wouldn’t let him see his kids. It may sound insane now, but it was VERY common to see, especially prior to the final season.

1st time watcher hated him because he manipulated Jesse and killed Fring and Mike..
I think since the end of Season 3 and beyond Hate him..
Actually disklike his whole family..
I hate how El Camino tries to manipulate us into thinking he cared about Jesse going to college.. If that were the case then why get mad when Jesse wants to quit maybe he wants to consider his future but in BB that wasn't on his mind but all the sudden El Camino is revisionist history so we'll like Walt.. F-that

When the show was still airing she got so much hate online she started to get credible enough threats they had to involve the police at least once and I believe she had to get security at her house. She wrote and published an article about it trying to get people to stop.

By the end of the show, we all learned who the real Walter was, and the hate for Skylar faded. How he fucked up Jesse and Hank was especially despicable.

Most of the real Skyler hate lived on 2010, 2013 forums and YouTube comments. Now you’re mostly seeing the backlash-to-the-backlash. Try old Listnook archives or BB fan sites if you dare.

It's mostly people remembering the hate from back when the show was airing, in particular because Bryan Cranston mentioned it in a recent interview. Skyler was an antagonist to Walter during the show, and it's not uncommon for viewers to dislike characters who stand in the way of a protagonist even when that protagonist is a sociopathic anti-hero. And of course being the early 2010s, the done thing was to vent one's incandescent rage at fictional characters all over the Internet.

It's back in the news/conversation again because Bryan Cranston recently remarked on it in an interview. That's all. You can relax. There's no new Skylar haters. He was reminiscing on the hate she got during the show's run

It’s right here. I hate that she did all the shit she did. The cheating followed by the reveal is enough for me to always hate her.
You can point out his shit all you want, it doesn’t excuse her.

One of my top rated comments on my profile is defending skylar from another meme that is calling her a cheating w****. It had to be removed by the mods.
