I started doing this 5 minute habit before bed and it actually made my mornings easier

Posted by NovelOk3369

I used to start my mornings in a rush almost every day for office. Could not find things, forgot small stuff, felt behind before even leaving the house. A couple weeks ago I tried something really simple. Before going to bed I take 5 minutes and do three things: * Put my keys, wallet, and anything important in one place * Pick what I am going to wear * Check what I need for the next day and put it near my bag That is it. It sounds obvious but it made a bigger difference than I expected. Mornings feel calmer and I do not waste time looking for things anymore.

Just spending 3-5 minutes writing down tomorrow’s top priorities makes bedtime feel way calmer, like I already have tomorrow handled.

Ooo this sounds so simple but I feel like it could actually help.

You could put your keys and wallet in that place as soon as you get home, and then BOOM! Only 2 things to do before bed!

I've learned that even if night me is tired, morning me will be more pissed at night me if I didn't make things easier for morning me. Morning me is much less capable of selecting clothes and finding keys.

Haha, morning me is definitely a whole different person! Setting things up the night before is like a peace treaty between my two selves.

My cousin would go to bed with his school uniform on. Wrinkled genius? Dunno but it worked for him

You will realize more and more things that make your life easier. Magnetic keys hook on the door or bowl on the counter. Automatic drafts on bills, Google Calendars, reminders to check paystubs every 2 weeks and pay taxes. Getting a bidet, moisturizing your skin after a nightly shower. How to get free money from credit card offers including points for free flights just by paying for groceries or rent. Shit took me decades to figure out.

Yeah this is a good one. Nothing more stressful than scrambling to look for stuff when you're already late the next morning. Keep it up!

Absolutely. I pack away lunch for tomorrows workday, pick out my work outfits for the week and have them organized, make sure all work items are written down and out of my brain so they don't stress me out, work bag by the door ready to go, etc. are what I do before work every week! I also need visible but organized ways to keep my stuff. Open top baskets, trays, jewelry bowls, key holders, etc. I can see it, there's no barrier to putting it in the bowl (no lid), and I always know where my stuff is.

This is common sense, but very few actually do it.

I did all of these for 30 years of working. I went one better and had my tea/coffee ready to brew too. I also made sure the kitchen was clean and cat food/water ready to go.

5 minutes invested before bed gives you 20 minute more in bed in the morning, what a sound investment of time with quick return 😂😂😂

I do most of that. I don't pick what I am going to wear because I don't really care what I wear. I have a closet with about 5 or 6 pairs of dress pants, 10 different dress shirts and three sports coats. Other than a few rare less than ideal combinations, I can pretty much mix and match all of them at will. In the morning after coffee, I take a shower, brush my teeth, comb my hair with my fingers, stumble out of the bathroom and put on which ever clothes I grab first. The other things you mention are essential because I would forget half of it if I didn't get it ready the night before.

I always say “keys, phone, and go!” before I leave. (I use phone pay, so I don’t even carry a wallet haha.) I also only have a few outfits. just simple shirts and pants, so I don’t really need to worry about what to wear. And I don’t usually need to prepare anything for the next day. (But if I do, I’ll do it like you!) My habit before bed should be ... check my phone was charged! haha
