I started writing a simple to do list every day and it helped more than I expected

Posted by NovelOk3369

I used to think writing a to do list every day was unnecessary, but I kept seeing people talk about it so I gave it a try. Nothing fancy, just a few things I wanted to get done that day written on my phone. What surprised me was how much less mental clutter I felt. Instead of trying to remember everything, I could just look at the list and focus on one thing at a time. Also weirdly satisfying to check things off, even small stuff. I am not super consistent with it yet, but on the days I use it, I feel way more organized. Do you guys use to do lists or just keep everything in your head?

Oh wow... I've always kept a list, like since HS. I can't imagine living all this time without one. This comment is like, Rain is unneccecessary to me. Not a criticism, just wildly different from how I see it.

It’s funny how something so simple can feel totally normal for some and totally new for others..

Same here. I used to keep everything in my head and it just made me more stressed. Writing it down feels like offloading my brain. Also that feeling of checking things off is weirdly addictive ☺️

Yeah “offloading my brain” is exactly how it feels.

That’s actually kind of impressive 😄 I wish I had that level of discipline, I still end up scrolling way more than I should

Writing things down is a great way to commit to them. I think there have been much scientific research on this. It works for me.

I love handwritten lists because crossing out completed items is the most satisfying 😍

Same feeling! At first, I think it's not a big deal, just something small. After a few weeks, I read it again and I found it's more valuable than I thought. It's really different feeling, I wrote down a to-do list, like 'sleep before midnight'. It's hard for me to do that, and I don’t do it every day, but I feel good when I did it.
