Seen them all big fan of most of them but Noah is his best film imo. I truly belive it's one of the most underrated movies of the last 20 years.
What are some Films and Directors where they're most divisive worst rated film is actually your favorite? This would be like someone trying to convince me Tenet is Nolans best film.
But Noah is so good. Great direction, imagery, use of budget and scale. Trying to tell a very well known story into something epic.
If this didn't have anything to do with religion it would be rated way higher
The Fountain is his best. Really beautiful story about the internal struggle of losing someone close to you done very artistically. Great combo of visuals, allegorical storytelling, and music.

Yeah, Noah is basically Aronofsky unleashed. It’s like he took every one of his obsessions, cranked them to 11, and said “let’s make this biblical fever dream happen.”

Where would you put the wrestler and requiem for a dream?

Feel like I'm the only one that liked Mother!

I really liked Mother! I feel like I'm the only one that liked Caught Stealing, though it's not exactly very Aronofskyesque.
In response to OP, I thought Noah was garbage.

Noah is good, but The Wrestler is goated.

I think Noah is a solid movie, but is easily my least favorite of Aronofsky.

I'm a big fan of Aronofsky. I love how all of his movies tie in a theme of obsession over something leading to greatness and also madness. With Noah, it is his service to God. So great that he literally speaks with the Almighty, and yet what he is told is horrific (in his first interpretation). Imagine - accepting everything as tangibly factual regarding God - if you were told to make sure humanity was cleared off. Is it madness to obey or madness to rebel?

I'm going with "The Fountain" as his best film. But "Noah" had a few moments which surpassed any other Aronofsky film in terms of moving me in the cinema.

Half of this movie is just asking the question, "is Russel Crowe going to murder a baby?".
Of course it's a masterpiece!

I love Jennifer Connelly and typically enjoy Crowe, but this is Darren's weakest film narratively imo. I checked out once the angels saw the first angel sacrifice itself and be lifted to heaven. Like, suicide is the right answer? Maybe for the first one because it didnt expect to ascend, but now that the rest know they decide to do it too? F*** that noise lol

I wouldn't say it's his 'best' movie by a long shot but I actually really enjoyed it.

It’s hard for me to choose it over The Fountain but it’s putting up a good fight.
In particular, I found the angels’ story to be very moving.

I like Noah, but I also like a lot of Aronofsky movies so i don't think i would call it his best. But its very good. And I do agree that it being more directly associated with religion over his other more metaphorical/anecdotal movies seems to hamper it quite a bit.

Noah exceeded my expectation. I think right after they get on the boat is the best stopping point, it really falls apart after that. You don’t really miss anything

Noah was one of my least favorites by him, but I’m glad that you enjoyed it. His best for me is probably a toss-up between The Fountain and The Wrestler.
