I have a sweet spot for dad shows and honestly most of the time i switch my brain off to enjoy the punching and shooting but Cross pulls me out of the reverie with the bad writing especially this season. The casting is spectacular and after the first season I thought the writers room would deliver something better but it's worse. Bobby is the best character in the show and could honestly watch a spin-off of just him as a private d***/ and or fixer.
This is where I'm at. I'm the furthest thing from the demographic for dad shows but I love them. And amazon usually does them so well, Bosch is one of the best noir detective shows of the last decade, Reacher is just really well made fun but this is just so bad, the dialogue is so cringe, the plot is nonsense, the logic is non-existent.

The only reason I watched the show is cause of the actor that plays Cross. Loved him in leverage.

All these shows he was doing, makes sense now why he wasn’t really in leverage redemption

aren't "badly written" and "James Patterson" synonymous?

You didn't like when he put his crotch on a dude during an interrogation either?

It is pretty badly written however, I did enjoy that after killing billionaires and burning down their island the "bad" guys escaped in a boat called Melania. The season went downhill from there.

Gave it a shot because the MC actor is from Leverage and he did so well i will give him a chance.
Halfway through season 1 and the overwhelming sense of 'Meh" hit so hard I noped out.

Dude really needs to find someone to pick his projects for him, between this and Black Adam.

Right? He's a great actor. he needs an agent who can push him into better stuff.
Shake it up, go do Bridgerton or something.

I also like the dad thriller show genre and I couldn't finish the second season of Cross. So frustrating to have this amazing character make dumb decision after dumb decision.

I mean it’s based on formulaic, airport novels.

Enjoyed the 1st season, this season seemed to meander and never focused on any one tangent long enough to make it the true point of the season. Give me a Two John series where he just solves stuff by himself.

I loved the 1st season. However I am not into them showing the viewer who the baddie is. One season was fine, plus it was an interesting plot. 2nd season of revenge not so much-boring

It's a low quality show all around. Apart from a couple of actors it feels like amateur hour. It also looks c****.

While I didn't hate Season 1, I prefer the the books that I read (Along Came A Spider, Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue) to the show.

I thought I was the only one, watched it last night and season 2 is pretty bad, I zoned out and was wondering why I was watching it. If its a good show, I never do that.

Agreed. I could not get past the second episode. The new Marshalls show is just as bad.

What about it makes you want to like it?
No shade here, I am just curious. Do you like the lead actor or something? Are you a big James Patterson fan? Do you like the soundtrack?
Again, no shade, but it seems to be pretty generic from the ground up. I'm just not sure what you were expecting.

Not op but I had hoped it would be closer to the two Morgan Freeman movies.

It's not really badly written, it's just written in a way you don't seem to resonate with.
People need to stop confusing "not for me" with "not done well"

They pointed out this was their type of show, I also thought it would be mine.. love the movies, big fan of Aldis since leverage....but I just couldn't get into it.
It's just kind of odd it's not resonating more.

It's obviously not their type of show if they aren't resonating with it.
It's just like someone might say Criminal Minds is their type of show, but they may not like certain iterations of it.

But do bad shows even exist then?
1
boomosaurMar 24, 2026

Yes... there's a difference between people that don't write well, and people that simply write in a voice you don't resonate with.

Strong independent minority.

Ahh so people who don't like a mediocre-at-best show are racists who can't handle strong independent minorities. That's a great excuse.

boomosaurMar 24, 2026

That's a reading comprehension issue on your part... just because you don't resonate with it doesn't make you a racist.
I think you are just insecure and can't accept that something you don't like may still be of good quality.
It's ok to just not like something, it doesn't have to be considered terrible just because you don't like it.

It's also okay to admit something isn't very good despite a positive message.

There is no objectively good or bad for entertainment. Just personal taste.
