I Went Out Alone for Pizza and Didn’t End Up Alone

Posted by Status_Mirror6650

I’ve been feeling a bit low lately. I’m new in Bangalore, and it’s been harder than I expected to feel settled without my family. Yesterday was especially rough; nothing specific, just that quiet kind of loneliness that creeps in when everything still feels unfamiliar. I didn’t want to go back home and sit with it, so I decided to take myself out for a quiet dinner. Just some time alone, maybe good food would help a little. I was sitting there, kind of lost in my thoughts, when I noticed this guy a table away, also alone. We made that brief, awkward eye contact a couple of times, the kind where you quickly look away and pretend you weren’t staring. After a while, he came over and asked if he could join me. Normally I would’ve said no, but something about the moment felt… easy. So I said yes. We ended up ordering a pizza to share and just started talking. Nothing deep or life-changing, just simple conversations about work, random life stuff, and a few bad date stories. The pizza was really good too: warm, comforting, and exactly what I needed without even realizing it. Even the staff was very supportive (special thanks to them)...they helped us to get comfortable. Somewhere between slices and small talk, I noticed I wasn’t feeling as heavy as before. It wasn’t some movie moment or anything, just two strangers keeping each other company on an ordinary evening. We said goodbye and went our separate ways, and that was it. (we added each other IG.....we are now friends) I went home feeling a little lighter than I did when I walked in, and honestly, that was enough. :)

I moved out of Bangalore jus last year, and I totally can relate to how you're feeling because I felt the same. I stayed there for about 3 years, and the city(eventually) absolutely stole my heart. I hope you find your people and your way around soon !

This actually made me feel a lot better, thank you for saying that. It’s been a bit overwhelming so far, but hearing that it gets better gives me hope. I guess I just need to give it some time :)

Yes give it time :) try to join some hobby/activity, a sport or boardgames group or something. That was something I wish I did earlier , I would've found friends faster lol

That actually makes a lot of sense, I’ve been thinking about doing something like that but just haven’t pushed myself yet. Maybe this is my sign to finally try 😄 thanks for the suggestion, I can see how that would really help.

I go somewhere alone I just end up scrolling Listnook the whole time and talking to absolutely nobody. Did you actually initiate conversation or did someone approach you? Genuinely curious because I feel like I'd need a sign on my forehead that says "feel free to talk to me, I'm lonely" for this to happen lol

I relate to this way too much.....I didn’t initiate anything at all, I was fully in my “scroll and avoid eye contact” mode. He was the one who came over and started the conversation. Honestly, I think it was just one of those rare moments where timing and vibes worked out. Usually I’d be exactly the same as you, just on my phone the whole time.

This sounds like the start of a movie not gonna lie 😄 Glad it turned into a good memory instead of just another lonely night.

but I’m just glad I didn’t overthink it and said yes. Definitely turned a not-so-great day into something I’ll actually remember in a good way.

Haha seriously 😂 it would’ve just been me, my pizza, and my thoughts for the night. Glad I didn’t overthink it for once.

glad you said yes, that took courage

Haha I didn’t even think of it as courage in the moment, it was more like “okay, why not”

Ya, I'd do this too, but where I am I'd probably just been hit on by a gay dude

haha I guess it really depends on the place and the vibe. Mine just turned out to be one of the nicer, harmless interactions. (but god knows)

This is so wholesome, sometimes a simple conversation with a stranger is all it takes to feel a little better. Glad it turned into a nice moment for you

Yeah, exactly this. It wasn’t anything big, just a normal conversation, but it really shifted my mood. Funny how small moments like that can make such a difference.

This made me happy to read this morning as I sip my coffee and work on the crossword puzzle. I'm glad you found a friend.

Wow...that's a nice thing to happen when you are new to city. But please be careful 🙂

Yeah, that’s fair 🙂 I was a little cautious too, but it just felt like a safe, normal interaction. Definitely got lucky with the situation though.

Honestly… I was just having a rough day and didn’t feel like saying no. It just felt like one of those “why not” moments, and I went with it.
