It’s so fun from start to finish.
And Lilly Simmons … goodness

The show is like pulp novel chaos with a prestige budget. Lilly Simmons, Ulrich Thomsen, AND Job stealing scenes nonstop. Rewatching the Ramona fight is mandatory.

If you haven't, check out Warrior. Same creator. Less shootouts but the fights are similarly great.

Warrior also has maybe the best self contained episode ever imo.

Which one was that? I kinda dropped off at some point but wouldn't mind checking out a specific episode

I assume he's referring to Season 1 episode 5, "The Blood and the Shit".

Yeah the story was terrible and the acting didn't really go anywhere. Sure the fights were cool, but the rest of the show wasn't enough to hold me between fights...

I kind of which they stuck with speaking Chinese. I get why they switched to English but it unfortunately took me out of it from that point.

I've always considered Banshee one of the very few series that somehow and miraculously starts and arrives at the station but goes off the tracks all the way.

The fight with the MMA guy is one of the most brutal things I've ever seen.

Third episode of the first season. Watch those first three episodes and you’ll know whether the show is for you or not.

I saw someone on Listnook refer to this show as, “Fight and F***”. Accurate.

Strike Back (the original five seasons) is solid fun and aired around same time. Warrior doesn’t have gunfights but same showrunner as Banshee and great fights.

Strike Back has great gun fights. Except for one episode, I felt they maintained the level of competence instead of the usual perfect aim except when the story requires somebody to get away.
Warrior has great fights.
I'd probably put Gangs of London in the top 3.
I feel like Banshee had me T&A though.

The Raid movies got me into that whole Indonesian action scene and now I'm obsessed with anything Gareth Evans touches. Also been rewatching old episodes of 24 lately - Jack Bauer basically invented the "one man army" thing before it became every action show's go-to formula

I’ve rewatched it, and i love the show, but i still think the final season is just a completely different tone.

Budget was slashed and they had to move production out of North Carolina due to the film credits lapsing. That's why there are fewer fight scenes and the town and police station look different.

I agree. Still love the show but the last season is comparatively weak.

I just started Banshee, and it's pure Skinemax. Reminds me a lot of "Strike Back"
It's a little weird that every woman in the show has lip injections... Even the Amish
The show is basically "Walking Tall" with an ex-con twist and softcore p***. What more could anyone want?

The final season felt drastically different and the show went out on a bit of a whimper. Antony Starr asked for less fight scenes and it was noticeable.
Still one of the best pure entertainment tv series ever.

It’s been too long, I can’t remember characters names, but the man vs woman fight in the driveway that ends with a novel use of the hood ornament is among the best fights ever put on tv.
