Call and report masked men with guns at the airport.

girthyclock Mar 23, 2026 +27
Call who? Airports fall under CBP / FAA / DOT jurisdiction. Local PD can’t do and won’t do shit.
27
BigHungryFlamingo Mar 23, 2026 +62
Call CBP, FAA, or DOT. Just waste their time and make their jobs harder.
62
Dry_Werewolf_1597 Mar 23, 2026 +1
The comment is definitively false for SFO specifically, and almost embarrassingly so. Law enforcement at San Francisco International Airport is handled primarily by the Airport Bureau of the San Francisco Police Department . The SFPD Airport Bureau has 181 employees, provides a full range of basic police services, and enforces local, state, and federal laws.

girthyclock Mar 24, 2026 +1
Different clowns, same circus.
1
Dry_Werewolf_1597 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Wrong, got caught, and too proud to admit it. The SFPD Airport Bureau has 181 officers enforcing the exact laws you said they couldn’t touch. The circus called, they want their clown back.
1
James-fucking-Holden Mar 24, 2026 +1
\*Reads article about SFPD protecting ICE\* "SFPD will totally arrest ICE" \*proceeds so call others clowns\*
1
FullMetalAlcoholic66 Mar 24, 2026 +1
You just make shit up. Airport crash out videos almost always have a local sheriff or police department arresting someone.

Why does this look like an AI image?
0
New-Anybody-6206 Mar 23, 2026 -4
It doesn't, but thanks for teaching me about [agnotology](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnotology)
-4
ottershark29 Mar 23, 2026 +2
The person said it looks like, not that it is. It really does look like an ai image even though we know its not. Something about the lighting of the people up front or something gives off ai vibes
2
BadahBingBadahBoom Mar 24, 2026 +1
AI still is not perfect at fine details (like skin edges), hence why a lot of AI that looks passable and is used are photos that have a number of people's faces in background slightly blurred / out of focus / poorly lit etc. as a cop out for having to provide that detail. Ofc that then overlaps in the Venn diagram of genuine photos with low f-stop where background is out of focus for legitimate reason (low depth of field). Who knows we may end up at a point where genuine images have to consider for how they are shot so people don't suspect they are AI. I know that's already being done with people avoiding em dashes because of the incessant LLM accusations.

Notice " Women and Children". ICE are only good when they fight with children.

Get your facts straight. They also excel at shooting men who are already on the ground and not resisting.
43
tuxman20 Mar 23, 2026 +16
What do you want? That they go after criminals and traffickers? They got guns… it’s dangerous!  At least kids don’t put up as much of a fight… unless they got guns…

Well this was to be expected, though quicker than I thought EDIT: This was on Sunday night, so unrelated to the TSA takeover
914
caseyanthonyftw Mar 23, 2026 +250
Yeah. On Monday. And west coast time too. Watched the video and thought "at least they're not roughly manhandling her / shooting her" but that's just how low my bar is right now.
250
infinitytomorrow Mar 23, 2026 +94
Actually, after reading the article (shame on me), this was on Sunday night. So before and probably unrelated to the TSA takeover
94
Yupthrowawayacct Mar 23, 2026 +11
Yeah. I would like additional context to this video but I am unable to find any This article just makes me more confused
11
Immediate-Finding454 Mar 23, 2026 +1
It's literally in the article: > “We understand federal officers were transporting two individuals on an outbound flight when this incident occurred,” SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel told SFGATE on Monday. “We believe this is an isolated incident and have no reason to suspect broader enforcement action at SFO.”
1
arizonadirtbag12 Mar 23, 2026 +11
And SFO doesn’t use TSA anyway. ICE is already in airports as a matter of course, so this could be and likely was entirely unrelated.
11
caseyanthonyftw Mar 23, 2026 +17
Yeah, shit. My mistake, missed that at the beginning.
17
everettescott Mar 23, 2026 +6
> Actually, after reading the article (shame on me) At least you finally did, people will comment "day one!" and ignore the actual facts.

1
mojitz Mar 23, 2026 +2
I'm firmly in the "abolish ICE" camp, but this appears to be unrelated to their deployment aiding TSA FWiW. SFO isn't part of that.
2

Also thought sfo wasn’t on the list

SFO has private security anyway, not really affected by TSA shutdown.

Imaginary-Ad-7919 Mar 23, 2026 +78
The fact that this headline sounds familiar is the real problem, when outrage becomes routine, something is deeply broken.
78
rocket__man_ Mar 23, 2026 +29
I think the real problem is ICE
29
Fifth-Crusader Mar 23, 2026 +15
ICE is a huge problem, and must be abolished. It is definitely not the only real problem.
15
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 23, 2026 +4
I get what you're saying but we don't exactly have a choice. Tf do you expect us to be able to do about any of this? Trump holds almost complete control of everything. ICE is far more armed than most of us are. What can we even do? Best I can do most days is keep my head down and try not to be a target.
4
Immediate-Finding454 Mar 23, 2026 +3
The headline is extremely misleading, the outrage is purely manufactured for clicks: > “We understand federal officers were transporting two individuals on an outbound flight when this incident occurred,” SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel told SFGATE on Monday. “We believe this is an isolated incident and have no reason to suspect broader enforcement action at SFO.”
3

167

They’re basically rejects from the police academy.
59
MysteriousEdge5643 Mar 23, 2026 +21
When you can't even clear THAT bar, it puts into perspective how unqualified these ICE agents are
21
badasimo Mar 23, 2026 +6
Not necessarily, there are plenty of LEO who saw an opportunity for a cash grab, or to be able to live out their fantasies and transfered into ICE from an existing job.
6
lake_effect_snow Mar 23, 2026 +4
And failed the ASVAB.
4
pdoherty926 Mar 23, 2026
Hopefully, they'll be losing their jobs in 26/27/28/29. However, I do fear about what a large group of angry, resentful, unemployable goons who are only good at violence and intimidation is capable of.
0
ssfsx17 Mar 23, 2026 +1
whatever they intend to do, taking away government equipment from them is better than not doing so
1
moosekin16 Mar 23, 2026
> However, I do fear about what a large group of angry, resentful, unemployable goons who are only good at violence and intimidation is capable of. Who were trained, paid, and *encouraged* to harass/assault/kill “undesirables” with impunity. I expect we’ll see a lot of violence from these goons towards various minority groups once they’ve been kicked out of ICE.

DrHugh Mar 23, 2026 +129
From the article: >In one video posted on social media, a crowd of people hold up their phones while others shout at a row of San Francisco Police Department officers who appear to be standing guard and aiding the ICE agents as they conduct the enforcement. Behind them, two men in plainclothes can be seen dragging the woman into a blue wheelchair while she visibly struggles. Handcuffs appear to dangle from her wrist. Did TSA ever arrest anyone? I've seen bodycam videos where TSA calls the local police department to deal with someone causing issues at security. The timing is odd; this was Sunday night, per the article. That suggests ICE was called there. This isn't part of doing security screenings, obviously.
129
FeRooster808 Mar 23, 2026 +34
Not a TSA issue because SFO doesn't use TSA. They use private contractors. So this is possibly not related to ICE at other airports. Or it is, and illustrates the fact it isn't about help deal with the TSA problem.
34
Paul_Smith_Hi Mar 23, 2026 +32
It was more than likely CBP (Customs Border Patrol) but I could be wrong. The only reason I say maybe CPB, is because this was Sunday night. ICE was to be "deployed" Monday.
32
DrHugh Mar 23, 2026 +8
I think they dress differently. It may simply be too recent for a clear idea of who was where doing what.
8
FeRooster808 Mar 23, 2026 +8
They don't even use TSA at SFO so you are likely correct.
8
gorgewall Mar 23, 2026 +12
No, TSA has no arrest powers. They don't even have *detention* powers: if they ask you to stay, it's technically entirely your compliance, since they aren't legally allowed to even block your way. The only thing they *can* hold is your luggage. The airport police (which are usually county officers) are the ones who handle arrests, detention, etc.
12
enigmatichuckleberry Mar 23, 2026 +5
> Did TSA ever arrest anyone? No, TSA is security theater. They excel only at failing internal competency tests, smuggling contraband into the country, and being expensive
5
MommyLovesPot8toes Mar 23, 2026 +3
In the article the SFO spokesperson says CPB was there escorting someone on an outbound flight - it doesn't say if it was this person or someone else. Airport says there are no/were no immigration enforcement operations going on and this is an isolated incident. Take all that with a grain of salt, but it seems like it's unrelated to the ICE airport deployment.

This is really bad. ICE is the paramilitary arm of the Trump administration. These deployments are only going to become more and more common.

Guys anyone remember the news cycle about detainees getting shot and killed in ICE custody. And the botched coverup ? Did we catch the killers ?
10
thieh Mar 23, 2026 +3
They are not meant to be caught. It's either collateral damage or the killers has enough connection to get away with it.
3
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 23, 2026 +2
People tend to not care about people once they've been detained already. Regardless of innocence. People only care when people are hurt BEFORE they've been detained. It's why everyone cares about Good and Pretti, but no one gives a shit about the countless innocents already in the holding facilities who have been brutalized or killed. One is in broad daylight, and one is behind closed doors in the dark.
2
bye4now28 Mar 23, 2026 +1
Aren't these murders being inconveniently listed as suicides?
1
Cruyelo Mar 23, 2026 +5
In 2017, Americans protested at various airports - including SFO - to show opposition to the 'Muslim Ban'. In 2026, they have ICE at the airports while their military bombs Iran. The cruelty has escalated, the protests need to escalate too.
5
SunshineMochii Mar 23, 2026 +4
People do realize that there are going to be travelers at airports that can't prove their us citizenship because they aren't us citizens, right...? They are traveling from other countries? This is such a cluster f*** shit show. This is not going to go well with ice's operating standard of arrest first and find out later. I feel like protests need to be brought to the airports now. Deny defend disrupt.
4
Helisent Mar 23, 2026 +2
I thought SFO doesn't even ise TSA
2
Sethmeisterg Mar 23, 2026 +4
Why the f*** are they even AT SFO? SFO isn't affected by the shutdown because of the TSA partner program.
4
SaltBedroom2733 Mar 23, 2026 +2
I called SFPD who told me ICE is not at SFO. And definitely no SFPD were assisting the ICE agents who definitely were not there.

5

3

She needs more than a refund. :(
4
SaltBedroom2733 Mar 23, 2026 +5
I called SFPD and they told me that they are absolutely not assisting ICE in the above video. Also that ICE is not going to be at SFO. And when asked if ICE would shoot, they said "hopefully not." Wdym hopefully not? I thought ICE wouldn't be there.

2
requieminadream Mar 23, 2026 +3
This is going to backfire tremendously for this administration when the traveling public sees ICE terrorizing fellow passengers in person rather than on TV.
3
pontiacfirebird92 Mar 23, 2026 +6
You are vastly overestimating the empathy of Americans. There's more than a few people who cheer this kind of shit.
6
requieminadream Mar 23, 2026 +2
I think there are basically three types of people right now... the ones who care deeply, the ones who cheer on the horror gleefully, and the ones who are 'out of sight, out of mind.'
2
pontiacfirebird92 Mar 23, 2026 +1
That tracks, looking at 2024 voter turnout. Unfortunately the ones who cheer for horror won. And so we all lose.
1
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 23, 2026 +1
This. A part of me almost hopes they escalate, because it only serves to hurt themselves more than anything. They're just giving us all more ammunition to vote them out at midterms. They're all going to prison this time next year. And they know it's inevitable.
1
roughingthesuspect Mar 23, 2026 +3
I’m sure the TSA agents are thrilled to have people who fall under the same department standing around getting paid while they are not..

Familiar_Fee_7891 Mar 24, 2026 +1
“This arrest occurred BEFORE ICE officers were even deployed to airports to bolster TSA efforts to help American travelers who are facing hours long lines across the country. “On March 22, 2026, ICE officers arrested Angelina Lopez-Jimenez and Wendy Godinez-Lopez at the San Francisco International Airport. The family has an outstanding final removal order of removal from an immigration judge since 2019. “While being escorted to the international terminal for processing, Lopez-Jimenez attempted to flee and resisted law enforcement officers. ICE is working as quickly as possible to repatriate the family unit to their home country of Guatemala.”
1
OttoHemi Mar 23, 2026 +2
Are they wearing their face masks around the airports? That seems so important to them and one of the reasons the government is shut down.

Yeah we all saw this coming. None of us are fazed by it anymore. If Trump is thinking he can elicit a violent response from us by doing this, then he's even more deluded than we thought. There is no TSA at SFO. Private contractors run the security gates (and should still be getting paid, while their company might be holding the bag). See: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covenant\_Aviation\_Security](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covenant_Aviation_Security) Something is not adding up here.
5
walterpeck3 Mar 23, 2026 +7
>Something is not adding up here. That's because this happened before Trump sent ICE agents to any airport to assist the TSA; it's unrelated to the TSA thing. ICE/CBP has been doing this at airports for a while now.
7
SaltBedroom2733 Mar 23, 2026 +1
So SFPD has been assisting them all along?
1

No idea, wouldn't be surprised.
1
Shot-Toe-2884 Mar 23, 2026 +2
Demoted to airport security work. Ouch. Must absolutely suck to work for ICE. The entire country f****** hates them and now they have to be glorified TSA agents and get shit on by angry fliers every single day. How scary…
2
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 23, 2026 +1
Everything Trump and MAGA does only ever hurts themselves. SAVE Act hurts republican voters far more than democrat ones. And this airport bullshit only hurts republican fliers more than democrats. I say let them escalate. They'll just dig their graves deeper out of their own incompetence.
1
HabANahDa Mar 23, 2026 +2
Not even 24 hours in.
2
Immediate-Finding454 Mar 23, 2026 +2
Misleading title. For the people who couldn't be bothered to read the article or that have poor reading comprehension: > “We understand federal officers were transporting two individuals on an outbound flight when this incident occurred,” SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel told SFGATE on Monday. “We believe this is an isolated incident and have no reason to suspect broader enforcement action at SFO.” This is not the paranoid leftist fantasy that you want it to be. ICE is not randomly abducting people at the airport as they wait for their flights. The news is intentionally scaring people for clicks with headlines like this. I had to explain to my freaked out immigrant wife why she's not going to be abducted for no reason when we go to the airport tomorrow.
2
moodswung Mar 23, 2026 +4
Of course Trump says "They're going to the airports to help TSA out because of bottlenecks..etc" Anyone with brains knew this was a lie. If he gave a single f*** about that he'd just sign an EO and release emergency funds for TSA but instead he intentionally held them back just to f*** us al over. It's literally extortion.
4
RipCity77 Mar 23, 2026 +2
That didn’t take long
2
KneeDeepInThe-Hoopla Mar 23, 2026 +1
Disgraceful behaviour! I have never in my life seen any law enforcement officers of any kind carrying backpacks like that, with water bottles, while on active duty. Not only are they absolute savages, their appearance and the way in which they conduct themselves is beyond unprofessional. What a travesty to have this behaviour on full display in an airport, in front of many visitors from all over the world. An actual embarrassment and if this accomplishes anything it will be the death of what is left of the US tourist industry.

My grandpa, grandma, and Uncle just flew back the night after my sister’s wedding yesterday. I’m so glad they dodged a bullet and seeing ICE man the airports will be scary as hell

We’ll remember your faces,” one person says. About 10 officers surround the woman and child as they exit the gate, ignoring the heckling crowd behind them. “This is the face of America,” one man shouts at them. “Congratulations.”

> “We understand federal officers were transporting two individuals on an outbound flight when this incident occurred,” SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel told SFGATE on Monday. “We believe this is an isolated incident and have no reason to suspect broader enforcement action at SFO.” >Yakel added that the airport was not involved or notified of the enforcement in advance.

Am I crazy or does SFO contract out the security? Meaning the folks who do the security there are not impacted by the shutdown (this is my understanding, will happily take a correction on that if I am wrong) So... why would they be there then?

Can you now call Gavin Newsom out as the waste of space that he is? Clearly not interested in protecting his people or the working class. We need someone who doesn’t go on book tour and placate right wing pod-cast bros.
