It's not like people can just show up and start working at an airport either.... There would be so much onboarding/orientation/security clearances that need to happen to get through to that point. Seriously. They explicitly said they aren’t going to be doing the TSA agents jobs helping with the actual security check screening process and long lines which is the WHOLE PROBLEM. So they’re just gonna kinda stand around menacingly harassing people apparently, which will do nothing to help with the problem of long lines I’m guessing. Almost feels like just an excuse to deploy trump’s good squad in one more place they aren’t remotely needed or helpful.

Hell, he fired the entire Iran section in the FBI right before starting a war with Iran. Because they also worked on foreign interference in our elections in Trump’s favor. The remainder of attorneys are chasing nonexistent claims of voter fraud from the 2020 elections and defending the administration’s immigration conduct. Who is left to enforce the rest of the federal laws? How long until we see this neglect lead to harm?

They're not there to help. Its an excuse to spread fear and flex their authority for people traveling. You can expect them to stop and arrest a dozen people to fill their quotas knowing any civilian wont be armed or have anything to defend them while they flaunt their guns and corner travelers.

I think that’s partly the point. Anyone their surveillance has flagged as a democrat or liberal, take your identification and don’t give it back to “verify” things. Ram the SAVE act through, passports take usually a month+ to get, and with a massive surge in those requests, and everything else going on, they can put one more nail in the coffin for voting. Or just flat out detain anyone and ship them off to their warehouse concentration camps.

The head ICE guy said earlier that it they did end up going to airports they indeed wouldn't be able to do any of that stuff you also mentioned. They said ICE would be door security and a few other minor things that still free up a small bit of TSA for the stuff ICE can't do. Even if they stick to that its gonna be a shitshow ofc still. I wonder how much air travel is about to plummet.
