I've always been curious about WW2 stuff, mostly trying to understand how humans can do what the Nazis did. Yes, there were some legit monsters, like the people that did crazy experiments on humans and didn't seem bothered at all. I figure they would have been serial killers or just disgruntled assholes, but the Nazi regime let them really thrive. Turns out lots of otherwise good and faithful Nazis, that really believed in the cause and wanted the best for the motherland and all that, had a really hard time just straight murdering innocent humans. At first they had troops just shoot people, but that made troops sad. They would go AWOL or otherwise quit, or act out, or turn to drugs and alcohol to cope. Turns out officers don't love it when their heavily armed and trained troopers show up drunk and angry. So then they tried mobile gas vans. They were like police paddy wagons with a locked area on the back, and you could switch a pipe and have the exhaust go into the detention area. Neat! Just arrest some Jews, put them in the back, gas them, done. Actually that sucked too. Turns out when people die of carbon monoxide poisoning, they tend to freak out and often vomit. So now you have to dispose of a bunch of bodies AND clean vomit out. Through a series of steps like this, they ended up with the death camps. Other Jewish prisoners would supervise the new prisoners, run them through the process, and remove the remains. If they ever got to the point where they couldn't do it themselves, they go into the system: today you, tomorrow me. The point is, humans can do almost anything, no matter how horrible, as long as they are somewhere removed. The ICE agent is just enforcing the law. The military member is just following orders. Never, ever underestimate what a human can do to another human as long as they have some kind of permission framework around it. Nazis were also humans just like us, it's the idea, not the person.

The best part I that Stephen Miller is not even an elected official. He's just someone Trump brought in to dictate policy and implement Project 2025. Trump doesn't care about anything other than enriching himself. Miller is the guy behind stuff like Alligator Alcatraz. Nobody elected Miller, yet he has an insane amount of influence on US policy, both foreign and domestic. Pretty messed up when you think about it.
