The problem isn't that ICE has been lying, it's that nobody is enforcing the law.

What a dream that would be. Police standing against ice. Both are tails when you call heads on a coin flip still. One would hope the military just starts to say no to illegal and immoral orders, but that’s clearly not happening

the local mayors etc are doing nothing to stop it even in democratic cities. a guy I personally know was pulled over by county police and referred to ice which is illegal. do the local government do anything? no. am I voting for these guys again? hell no. if democratic leaders cant even control their own police departments then I give up. our mayor here was talking about ice at the airport. I was like wtf are you doing dude? like literally endorsing them. Well he can go f*** himself. I am not supporting any party that supports this shit and theres no reason they cant have the local PD enforce the actual laws and protect the people that live in their cities. walz did the same shit in minnesota and let state police beat protestors. newsome let it happen in LA where they beat up kids. They beat up kids and newsome did nothing. f*** him too.

Back in 2020 I got into an argument with my city's mayor because there was a friggin' MRAP posted up outside of the county jail 3 blocks from the peaceful protests at the downtown parks. I kept asking her why she was allowing this in her city and after like a week with no response she finally said "I don't control what the Sheriff's Department does..."
MF YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF THE CITY!!!! TELL THEM TO F*** OFF!!!

I got into like 5 million fights on here where people make the claim the mayors or governors have no control. Well thats just false. I said how come in every movie or tv show the mayor comes out and then there is the chief of police. My god. Obviously they are in charge. I said about walz.. who I voted for... why does he let the state police attack protestors along with ice? I could see the state police fighting ice to leave the protestors alone but instead they are tear gassing people. I will never forgot that or forgive walz or newsome for what happened. Its absolutely disgusting. my mayor wants to fund tsa. Im like how about we get rid of the tsa dhs and ice altogether. Thats supposed to be the dem viewpoint not supporting these guys. in your case she should be firing whoever is doing the bad things.

Well yes, but the REAL real problem is *how* do we enforce the law right now?
The DOJ, FBI, and the Supreme Court are stacked with Trump’s cronies who refuse to lift a finger. What avenue is left for justice in this country?

It's absurd. People were outraged and saying it was illegal when they started doing it, just no one made any attempt to stop them. Then they started claiming they could - which was instantly rebuked with telling them they wrong/lying - and STILL no one did anything to stop them. Now that it's been months and they're saying "oh it turns out they lied."
Like... no shit. We know. We knew. Local law enforcement should've been stopping it, but they've been complicit the whole time. They probably won't stop being complicit either while ICE just keeps doing it.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts the case of case of [Judge Hannah Dugan](https://www.npr.org/2025/12/18/nx-s1-5648584/judge-hannah-dugan-guilty-obstruction-ice) who was found guilty of "obstructing" justice when she was ~~likely~~ doing exactly the right thing.

so everyone arrested at at courthouse should be immediately set free then right? Fruit of the poisonous tree? If ICE was violating the law, then their arrests are tainted and any evidence obtained during these arrets and used to incarcerate these individuals should be thrown out.

They'll argue that laws (and violations there of) only apply to citizens, so not only is it fine, that they intend to keep doing it.

Haven't you heard? What is or isn't true is up for debate now. Climate change, the origin of COVID, whether or not vaccines are good for society, the amount of voter fraud, all of it. America is now an opinion based society, there is little to no consequence to breaking laws. If there's no consequences, they're merely suggestions.

Americans really need to learn to *disobey illegal orders.*
That's step one: mass refusal.
These actions (ICE, DOGE, etc) were always, ALWAYS illegal overreach. The President does not have *most* of the powers he assumed for himself in this last year.
And we just let him do it. Why? I understand there is zero accountability, but the least we can do is refuse and demand our own rights.

That why we must all do it together.
Minnesota did it. Yes, some of them were killed in the process, but they stood together and the government was forced to back down and step away.
We can still win but we have to be willing to stand up for ourselves and each other.

I get the sentiment, but they absolutely did back down in response to protests and the national reaction to ICE. It's not over, obviously. They're at the airports and planning to be at the ballot box. But we proved that they are still vulnerable, and it's worth feeling a little of that power.

Courthouse arrests and arrests at immigration interviews are so blatantly against the public interest. Like yeah, those are great ways to catch immigrants, but it specifically only catches the immigrants who are here and trying to use the appropriate legal processes.

> but it specifically only catches the immigrants who are here and trying to use the appropriate legal processes.
Sure, but otherwise they might have to do some investigative work and/or go after *actually* potentially dangerous/violent folks. Grabbing innocent people in a place where you know they'll be at an exact time and date weeks in advance and a bunch of dudes with guns are right there if they try to resist in any way whatsoever makes them feel SO much more manly.

And everyone else across the world sees it too.
