Honestly, I want several items of clothing he wore in this movie...the whole vibe the costume designers gave him speaks to me.

>Dillon even got some encouragement from the Internet that the costume team had gone in the right direction. “I saw Derek Guy, the menswear guy, post after we’d done all this stuff with quarter zips. He was talking about quarter zips and how he’s not keen on them, and he listed a load of alternatives for men who would like to wear some knitwear. I thought that was a great affirmation of what we were trying to do,” Dillon said.
>The costume design team’s work is never down to just finding the right piece. For example, Dillon stumbled on Grace’s cardigan at the Mildmay Vintage Fayre, doing a very last-minute shop the morning before the first “Project Hail Mary” fitting with Gosling, but the original piece had two wolves on the front of it. Dillon decided to get the slightly more aggressive-looking knit for himself, but because he was going straight from the fair to the fitting, he had it with him. Gosling fell in love with the piece but suggested a version of it with fox faces and fox footprints instead.
> “The saying goes ‘One is None’ in the costume department because you need a few [copies of every clothing piece] for the actor, and then you need a few for the stunt doubles, maybe. You always need at least six of everything,” Dillon said. So the “Project Hail Mary” costume team had to order more thread and enlist its knitters to “go like the clappers” in order to make new fox specials of Grace’s cardigan. Grace’s many t-shirts had to be vintage-treated on a tight turnaround, too.

The headquarters is in Port Huron, Michigan. The only open store is in Ontario now (after the P.H. One closed)

No doubt they gave him that big sweater to hide his muscles. He needed to look physically weak when he was on Earth. He got ripped for the role specifically for the space trip. In the book, he remembers that they put electrodes on his body to prevent atrophy, which they mention briefly in the film when he writes on his white board "Big Muscles?"

That’s what **I** would say 😏 about Brian Gosling ….. but then I’d have to eat his *peanits* 😳😳😳
From the article: “Here’s the catch. It comes as a kit and it’s up to you to do the knitting.”

That’s not a real Cowichan sweater and if they were going to lead us to believe it was they should have bought one from the tribe.

How can you tell it's not real?
I'm asking out of genuine curiosity because I don't know anything about Cowichan knitting beyond the two minute google search I just did, and I would like to know more.

Between the color of the head and hearing it’s made in Ontario, it’s at best “in the style of” vs an actual Cowichan sweater.

The tribe doesn’t use color yarn. Just looking at that one and mine I can tell they used a more manufactured yarn not the raw yarn the tribe uses.

Real Cowichan sweaters are protected under the law in Canada, IIRC.
It’s a shame they didn’t work with the tribe to have him wear an actual Cowichan sweater. Ryan being Canadian himself would’ve made it a more impactful statement.

Adding ‘buying sweater I like the look of’ on my ever growing list of things that are political and make me a bad person without me knowing

Take whatever you want out of it. The headline is leading us to believe that this the a Cowichan sweater. It’s not. But whatever sweater you want but don’t pawn it off as something it’s not.

the headline and article doesn’t have the word cowichan once, and the pattern has been in use since the 50s. cope.

I liked most of his wardrobe. I did wonder how he had room for all those outfits on a space mission. Lol

The yellow raincoat really stood out to me and distracted me from what was one of the most intense scenes in the movie, plus the constant sound of the rubber while he moved

I thought so too, but in the overhead shot where they are running towards the big thing that just happened it made it easier to spot him.
