Weird that this keeps happening.

Also weird that it's even news considering all the killings of journalists (to name just a very few of many, many atrocities), I don't care if soldiers mock statues, but they get in more trouble for that than literal murders

It's the messaging that matters. The very people who offer up the funds for these wars should be appauled by a photo like this. It's an inconvenience truth. They'd rather not talk about it therefore it needs to be held high.

It's happening because they're accostomed to being celebrated for doing this kind of thing for the past 80 ish years. But because it was to Muslims, westerners didn't care all that much. So it's basically muscle memory for them, and westerners are all shocked Pikachu faces.

Snoo66769 6 days ago +17
Yes, I’m sure the Muslims have just been letting Jews get away with insulting Islam…. Let’s ignore that they expelled all of their Jews over the last 80 years, meanwhile Israel is 20% Muslim. I think it’s more accurate to say that this has been happening by people of every army but you just don’t care about it until it’s Israel.

Well, not really. While the IDF top brass would obviously like soldiers to stop doing this nonsense, but they don't \*really\* control field units, who are increasingly composed of national-religious types who straight up \*love\* doing this nonsense. And you can't just exclude em from service or shove em into the Golan as used to be the case, increasingly these are the guys who actually show up to fight and as they say, you fight with the army you have rather than the one you want. So this stuff is just going to keep on happening, and the IDF top brass will be basically powerless beyond a few slaps on the wrist to stop it.

Yeah I mean we don't know Mary didn't smoke (they probably didn't have tobacco 'cause that's from America I think but she might've smoked weed) Edit: I don't even know if the statue IS Mary, I should read the articles more often lol

Israel is an interesting place. They have overwhelmingly favorable views on America but also have overwhelmingly negative views on Christianity. I’m surprised the IDF hasn’t cracked down on this more, images like these actually jeopardize millions of dollars in support from private citizens in the US.

More accurately this is a byproduct of Israel trying to recruit more haredim. On one hand, yea they need to be playing their part. On the other, they are racist, bigoted assholes. These people have been getting punished and hopefully that sends a message for those of them serving to reign it the f*** in.

If you think Haredim are racist bigoted assholes, wait until you see the Arsim, who have been proudly serving for generations.

Israeli here. Kinda depends. Arsim are like gangster-larpers in the US, they act all gangsta with their branded clothes and cigarettes, but the second consenquences arrive they revert back to frightened teenagers. On an unrelated note there *is* a scary rise in *actual* teenager-gang violence in the center and south districts, and I hope the police cracks down on them ASAP, especially after the tragic murder of Yemino Zlaka. Vast majority of Haredim are isolationists and tend to be indifferent towards all non-Haredim (including other, secular, and even less religious Jews), living their religious conservative lifestyle and generally not bothering other people. However, they have small extremist sects amongst them who are hyper-elitists and view themselves as superior to everyone who's not them, including other Haredim outside their faction, much less seculars, much *much* less people of other religions. Those are the assholes who spit on Christians in Jerusalem and scream "In the Koyfrim's regime we do not believe" and "We'll die and not enlist" on protests. Unlike Muslim Extremists or the extremist sects of the West Bank settlers, Haredi extremists don't typically look out to cause trouble or publically voice their bigoted opinions, but rather stay within the limited area of their home turf, only reacting whenever someone's unlucky to come across it. Of course, exceptions are always a thing. Overall I'd say the extremist Haredim are more bigoted than the average Ars, but you won't find them outside of Jerusalem, Bnei-Brak, or any of the other majority-Haredi cities.

No Haredi ever yelled tahzor le rusia ya rusi masriah while kicking me in the ribs but maybe that was a lack of cultural exposure on my part.

>No Haredi ever yelled tahzor le rusia ya rusi masriah while kicking me in the ribs Damn, Arsim suck. Most of them are harmless assholes with all bark and no bite, but sometimes they do bite. I'm sorry you had to go through an encounter with these uncivilized unwashed baboons. I remember a few years ago when I was in a vacation with my family in Eilat there were Arsim and Frekhot everywhere, there was a huge fight near a restaurant with a lot of slurs thrown all over the place all because a fight over not being alowed to smoke Nargilla within the restaurunt's area, or so I've heared from nearby people after police came. There's nothing religious about them or their hate, they are just a****** teenagers/young-"adults" that think wearing a black kippa excuses them throwing Keter chairs.

>overwhelmingly negative views on Christianity Source?

Emergency_Gene_4171 May 6, 2026 +29
I looked at the Rossing Center’s September 2025 polling of Israelis. Haredi, Dati (modern orthodox), and masorti (traditional) all polled similarly - vast majority with negative views and opinions towards Christians/ Christianity. Only the Hiloni (secular) had a majority positive view.

Adiligian 6 days ago +2
So what percentage of the population has a negative view of Christianity?
2
ofekk214 4 days ago +1
Most of the population is secular (Hiloni), but "negative" outlook sounds misleading. Most traditionals don't hate Christians, they are rather chill with them, but have the same opinions most American conservatives have on non-Christuans; the opinion of "I hope that guy realizes his religion is wrong and converts to the right religion". The only issue a traditionalist would have with Christuans is if they would have a son that would want to marry a Christian girl, which would mean the kids won't be Jewish. Again, "negative" does not necessarily mean hate, just disagree with them. I'm Hiloni btw and I dgaf about religion.

Feels disingenuous to combine Christianity and Christians into one opinion.  Any Jew who actually knows the gospels deserves to hate a religion that demonized Jews since its first century of existence. The gospel of Mathew literally puppets the Jews of Jerusalem to say that they and their descendants to the rest of time deserve the guilt of murdering Jesus.  Christians are the largest and most diverse religion on Earth. Having an opinion on all of them probably means you don’t have much of an opinion to begin with.

A couple of ultra orthodox jews spitting and a few soldiers acting like man children (they are).

PartyWithSlurmz 6 days ago +1
Come on man, you can just Google the words "Isrealis spitting on Christians" and get hundred of videos. This is such a problem that when churches take trips they warn their congregation that it will happen.

Virtually all incidents involve the ultra-orthodox extremists. Whild these incidents are horrible, they are a tiny minority.

I mean, Jews in general aren't big fans of Christianity seeing as how much Christians have persecuted and killed Jews for the past 2000 years.

Jews are fine with Christians, tf are you talking about lol
2

The hiloni are cool with them, the haredi/dati/masorti aren’t the biggest fans though.

What are you basing this on??
-8
Emergency_Gene_4171 May 6, 2026 +9
I already replied to your other comment, polling data from Israel. Plus I’m Jewish/ have many Israeli friends. It’s not exactly a secret that many Jews (especially religious ones) aren’t particularly fond of Christianity due to historical trauma/ religious differences.

It really doesn't. I doubt Republicans are going to stop giving money to Israel because they don't like Christians. Israel is sadly a pretty right-wing country politically, because of frequent terrorist attacks. It kinda started with the Second Intifada which was blamed on liberal parties not taking security and Islamic terrorism seriously enough. That led to the shift right since right-wing parties vowed to focus on security and retaliation.
4
Emergency_Gene_4171 May 6, 2026 +8
The trends have actually started shifting within the American right. With conservatives under 50 negative views of Israel are skyrocketing. It’s what’s caused the “conservative civil war” that is currently happening within the Republican Party.
8
Venat14 May 6, 2026 +2
Israel doesn't seem to be noticing since they're still supporting right-wingers in the US. I haven't sensed them feeling betrayed by the right-wing who now oppose them.
2
Emergency_Gene_4171 May 6, 2026 +6
It’s actually a pretty serious issue for them at the moment. It just hasn’t manifested at the ballot box because the shift in support for Israel has dropped so dramatically in such a short period. But they are definitely concerned with commentators like Megan Kelly, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, etc.

If they have such "favorable" views on Americans why are they always abusing and spitting on American tourists. You couldn't be more wrong, Isreali's hate Americans and go out of there way to make things difficult when they try to visit religious sites..

Olivedoggy 6 days ago +3
As if your people and denominations would come off looking better if a spitting-on-Jews compilation were made.
3
Emergency_Gene_4171 6 days ago +2
Are you talking about the incidents with the haredi (ultra orthodox) who are 14% of the population? And the people who spit are part of an even more fringe extremist set within the haredi. You realize that most Israelis (85%) finds them to be a problem right? And if they hate Americans why do 70% of the Israelis who leave Israel move to America?
2
PartyWithSlurmz 6 days ago
I seriously doubt your numbers, but If you have a society that 14% of the people are allowed to abuse othe people becuase of their faith and the government does nest to nothing about it, you have a society that hates said faith. They come to America for the same reason everyone else does, we are prosperous and to be clear they come here cause we dont abuse people becuase of their faith and if someone did they would face consequences unlike what we all see in Isreal. You can bring up numerous videos of Isrealis spitting in Christians, but you know what you dont find much of? Articles about them facing consequences.

Emergency_Gene_4171 6 days ago +3
You can Google the numbers yourself bro, I’m not a defender of Israel lol. I can also bring up numerous videos of Jewish people, Muslims, any race of people, etc - getting attacked by crazy people in most modern western countries. Does that mean the whole country hates them? Anytime you paint an entire people with a broad brush you’re falling into the same hatred you claim to be against.

Ok I’m a christian and while I appreciate the willingness to actually take action when the IDF does something like this…. Maybe they can investigate why their bombs and missiles and bullets keep killing civilians. I don’t think Jesus cares about statues more than them.

When will people learn that when you do stupid internet stuff in real life, you get real life consequences?

Why? The soldier didn't break any rules of engagement. It's all part of the training. Getting caught while doing it is a different story.

There are millions of orthodox Jews. And let's be sure - there is nothing in common between jahve and Maria.

/cough, The dude referred to as Jesus was according to christian bible a Jew, therefor it is highly likely his mother was jew as well. In case you wanted to know what HaShem and Maria have in common, and even more strict according to jewish tradition which is often also called "orthodox". Beware, in internet your claims expose your knowledge, not just your intent.
