You can imagine what animal it is and what they said to you and the circumstances but regardless if just like spoke to you id like to know what any of you would do in this situation.
I don't think it would strike me as odd right away. I brought home a bag from Petsmart and put it on the floor where my dog could go through it himself. He took the bone out right away, and left the toys for a little while. In a few minutes, he was looking in the bag again. I said, "If you're looking for your bone, it's in the hall. You got it out already." He went straight to the hall and got his bone, just as if I had said it to a kid or my husband. If he had said back, "Oh, that's right. Thanks," I wouldn't have thought about it until I was going to sleep, then my brain would have gone, "Hey! What just happened?"

Depending on what they said I'd probably just be in shock and move on with my life. I wouldn't be able to convince anyone it happened and I'd probably never see that animal again (unless it was like my dog or something) bc there wouldn't be much else id feel I could do 💀

I always get random thoughts like this mind one time my other half was driving and all of sudden I asked “ I wonder what monkeys sound like when they cry” haha.
I always try to narrate what my dogs are thinking when they’re looking at me or doing something stupid 😭 I’m probably a bit nuts !

If a raccoon walked up to me and said "Knock Knock," I would just say "Who's there?" It's so instinctive to say "Who's there" that I don't think it would even register right away that I was talking to a raccoon.

Reminds me of that anti pot commercial where the dog started talking to her

Roughly the opposite of [this](https://youtube.com/shorts/odIxrKScxw8?si=kh4QPaQtIfABGi7n), I think.

I probably would continue the conversation without missing a beat only processing what happened days later.

I'd assume I was hallucinating but ask it to repeat itself to see if I was

My first instinct would probably be to question whether I'm high as shit or not

Duh, this is easy...
I would listen first and then ask questions depending on what they said.
All I know is... if an animal is genuinely talking to me, something's about to go down! It's practically guaranteed that I'm about to embark on the most epic real life quest by following this creature.
A ton of movies and video games support this theory.
And, I've always been told there's a little truth in every story.

One time, when I was super sick and went out on a walk (I can't tell you why - I do dumb stuff when I'm sick) I had a fever-induced hallucination that a deer told me my taxes were late.
I sat down and called my best friend and said "I think I'm on acid??”
I was not on acid. Just had a 104°F fever. She took me to the hospital.
So yeah, my first response is apparently to assume I'm on drugs. Despite not really doing drugs.

“Must pee. Search food. Query for sustenance initiated. Moving object incoming… evaluate for potential threat…”. I would think that most animals are incapable of complex thoughts so it would sound like this??

I have pet budgies and one of them speaks to me quite often in perfectly intelligible English so I am used to that.
If a cat or dog did it I think I would freeze up a bit.
