21 today? or 21 when i was 21?
2869
humannipplebelt Mar 27, 2026 +1407
exactly. 21 right now? no thanks

Vinny_Lam Mar 27, 2026 +383
Assuming my body physically reverts back to when I was 21 and I keep all my memories and everything else, I would love to be 21 again today.

Frustib Mar 27, 2026 +83
Youth is wasted on the young

ChodeCookies Mar 27, 2026 +63
Same. Already did 21 when I was 21.

cmurdy1 Mar 27, 2026 +18
Well doc, I used to be 39 but now I'm 21.
18
LynnScoot Mar 27, 2026 +22
Memories and assets and I’d be fine right now.
22
Leesbril Mar 27, 2026 +15
No matter when, me being physically 21 again would make me a problem to polite society. Somehow I made it to 40 without catching anything antibiotics couldn't cure, if I got to redo that time i'm going the full 100% speed run.
15
evlhornet Mar 27, 2026 +21
21? In this economy?
21
theWildBore Mar 27, 2026 +269

idk I think the kids are way more fucked. AI eating up entry level positions, plus whatever educational deficits they might have had from the pandemic
246
this-guy- Mar 27, 2026 +98
Yeah. I have younger relatives in university and regardless of what they are doing, law, coding, arts, I just keep thinking "where are you going to work? How will you pay rent" . We went from surfing the information highway to just being turned back into Serfs. These kids will be in debt and paying a tithe for their entire lives.

humannipplebelt Mar 27, 2026 +95
the internet as we knew it is dead. it was once one of the greatest collective collaborations of humanity and now it's just an ad dispensary. I worry a lot about independent artists. I think that human made art is going to go the way of human made/tailored clothing; something that only wealthy hobbyists have access to
95
pauliek93 Mar 27, 2026 +28
As an artist, I actually think the opposite. My band and I play to no click and now leave in the little mistakes that make a song inherently human when we record - because when every song is flawless, perfect, and made for algorithmic popularity nothing is special. Perfection bias is a real thing, and if you look at the rise of late 90’s/early 2000’s grunge right now I think it’s a small view port into the future.
28
MaethrilliansFate Mar 27, 2026 +13
People crave authenticity more than anyone realizes. Every great art movement(especially music) existed as a rebellion against what people considered perfect at the time because as it turns out state sanctioned art and its popular parallels are generic and boring even if its considered high quality and people can see the lack of soul even if it persists. All my art friends and music friends have been acting like theres a fire under their ass to make better or more creative pieces and it's not in competition with AI but in retaliation to what we know it to be, a generalization. The authentic art scenes going to be CRAZY in the next few years I just know it
13
Anon_Bourbon Mar 27, 2026 +4
Hit up your local art! I've been filling my room with really cool stuff from local artists at tattoo conventions or art shows.
4
ChibiBladeZ Mar 27, 2026 +6
Yeah, It’s wild how we promised freedom with knowledge and ended up handing them a lifetime subscription to stress and debt.
6
VerityPushpram Mar 27, 2026 +7
My daughter commented on the state of the world and then said “I’m still expected to get a job!!!!”
7
Slim01111 Mar 27, 2026 +7
I feel personally attacked
7
sentient_luggage Mar 27, 2026 +4
48, and I've got a roommate. What? I'm f****** 48 man. Oddly enough we MET when we were 21. We both lived alone.
4
arequipapi Mar 27, 2026 +18
Why not? If I woke up 21 again I would do a lot of things differently. Even if I knew the current history and couldn't go back in time. Just being 19 years younger would change a lot about how I live my life
18
Any_Skin_8042 Mar 27, 2026 +3
Yes! Just having that energy and freedom again, even with what you know now, would make you play life so differently. Younger me would have done *so* many things smarter and bolder.
3
RsonW Mar 27, 2026 +26
When I was 21, Obama ran a campaign where the headline was "Hope". Ain't no hope nowadays. Good luck, kids!
26
StickyGlueFTW Mar 27, 2026 +5
Reading this at 21 :(
5
porgy_tirebiter Mar 27, 2026 +6
I’d take it. Getting old sucks.
6
NxPat Mar 27, 2026 +8
When I was 21… Bitcoin
8
ransier831 Mar 27, 2026 +7
Just coming to say this - 21 in 1992? I'll do that, but 21 now? Naaa...
7
rsurvivorlovesme Mar 27, 2026 +3
why not? it wouldn’t change anything but your body.
3
Fishtaco1234 Mar 27, 2026 +7
Seriously. I feel bad for 20 year olds. I feel awful for my 13 year old nephew. My buddy is having a kid in July and I’m like… why?
7
Iminurcomputer Mar 27, 2026 +9
Like 30 min ago my fiancé and I were discussing finances and the wedding and I just told her, as far as priorities.... House > Baby. Thats all. Idc about a performative ceremony. I want to lay down in our living room with our baby and watch it grow and become, hopefully, a great person.
9
GozerDGozerian Mar 27, 2026 +10
I agree that your house should be bigger than your baby.
10
Straight_Reserve_805 Mar 27, 2026 +37
21 back in time..
37
Gustomucho Mar 27, 2026 +79
Get a shitload of bitcoins, buy lots of Microsoft, apple, tesla stock… Honestly, from that point on my life would be so different as I would probably be a billionaire so any semblance to this life would be completely irrelevant. Would I want to switch back to being 21 ? Sure but I am entirely happy with my current life.
79
ManaXPZ- Mar 27, 2026 +16
Everyone’s planning the billionaire route, but you’re the first one who admitted it might cost you the life you actually love… that hits different.
16
ironkodiak Mar 27, 2026 +8
There is absolutly zero chance that if you have kids & traveled back in time that you could have the same kids. You would be killing them. Probably some of your friend's kids too as you will change their life ever so slightly too.
8
akjd Mar 27, 2026 +5
I don't have kids, or friends with kids. Or friends. Pretty much have f*** all to lose, really. Gimme them billions!
5
grimAuxiliatrixx Mar 27, 2026 +7
Honestly I think this question is easily derailed by the "buy the stuff I know blows up" response that it's practically pointless. I mean, I always have that same answer, because that simply IS what I would do. I feel like it'd be a more useful question to ask what you'd do if, like... you forgot about every profitable future event you could speculate on. Sports games, different types of assets, all that stuff, that is specifically purged from your mind. That opens it up a little more. Would you immediately leap into your current career with your current knowledge so maybe you could take a different approach and advance farther faster? Would you take a chance and use your regained youth to pursue something totally different? Maybe try out hobbies you feel like you're too old for now or something? Would you immediately try to find or stay with your *current* significant other, or would you free yourself and try playing the field more than you did? This is the type of thing that I think would be more interesting.

AnalBroFisting Mar 27, 2026 +41
21 today: f*** no. 21 in 2010: f*** yes.
41
Tungstenkrill Mar 27, 2026 +11
21 back in the 90s. Yes please.
11
thaaag Mar 27, 2026 +8
And do I know what I know now if I go back to 21 when I was 21? Because if not, then I'm just going to do what I did.
8
Psychological_Risk26 Mar 27, 2026 +6
I’m about to be 21 in less than a month
6
Sivitiri Mar 27, 2026 +12
my condolences

Get fit and stay fit. So much harder to do when you're older, out of shape, or develop chronic health issues.
516
sudomatrix Mar 27, 2026 +171
The second best time is today.
171
SkeithPhase1 Mar 27, 2026 +28
God, I needed to hear this. No more slacking off and dwelling in the past. Thanks! 🙏
28
Wooden-Sample-6868 Mar 27, 2026 +19
Younger me was too busy "living" to take care of my body
19
Blobeh Mar 27, 2026 +3
Want to know a secret? If you can't get yourself to be fit now you won't get fit at 21
3
Arclite83 Mar 27, 2026 +9
Got healthy in my thirties. Slid back over the next decade. It's now much harder to get back in my 40s LOL
9
Only_C_Fans Mar 27, 2026 +1441
Buy a metric f*** ton of bitcoin
1441
McGillicuddys Mar 27, 2026 +293
I'd have to buy Apple or Microsoft while waiting for Bitcoin to be invented
293
nmathew Mar 27, 2026 +114
It's 2001 for me with only a few days to 9/11. Guess I'm shorting airline stocks and getting grilled by the FBI when my call-in and write-in tips don't prevent 9/11. Then I can buy some Apple stock or real estate and take advantage of the housing bubble busting.
114
aeroxan Mar 27, 2026 +45
I've thought about how you could stop it or minimize casualties. I concluded if you could time a credible bomb threat to the WTC, good chance a lot of people would have already been evacuated. Then you'd probably be hunted by the govt though.
45
Koshindan Mar 27, 2026 +16
[What about the people on the plane, dude?](https://youtu.be/-TGj227OVKY?si=Plq91tlLlNdBUAui&t=119)
16
nmathew Mar 27, 2026 +10
That's the monkey paw. People evacuated and live, and I get some bullshit 15 year charge for threatening a government building as non-conspirator
10
aeroxan Mar 27, 2026 +10
They'd grill you on how you knew and accuse you of being some kind of spy or time travel. Would be pretty cool if you could pull that off completely unknown. I guess another wild thing is if you're able to change things enough like thwarting most of 9/11, a lot of other events would probably be different so at least some of your knowledge of the future would be different. It does make me wonder what one single person could do to change history even if they had that kind of knowledge at the time.
10
L_Outsider Mar 27, 2026 +4
The FBI was onto the 9/11 perpetuators months before it happened. I'd say if you tipped them saying you heard mentions of a plane crashing into the WTC they would take it seriously (one of them learned how to fly right before the events). Make some shit up, say you speak a little bit of Arabic but are white so they thought you wouldn't understand them, they seemed to have concerns about the gap between piloting a Cessna(from flight school) and a 767 🤷
4
Geno_Warlord Mar 27, 2026 +8
Back then there weren’t too many cameras everywhere and pay phones did still exist so you’ve got some leeway in being totally anonymous.
8
drumallday Mar 27, 2026 +3
And hold Microsoft for decades, and sell last summer and not today 😭
3
IAM_deleted_AMA Mar 27, 2026 +9
But you're 21 today, not going back in time.
9
bmakszim Mar 27, 2026 +3
As I understand the question, you wouldn’t go back in time, you just were 21 again. 21 but now.
3
TheCzar11 Mar 27, 2026 +1009
Try to recreate my life exactly how I originally lived it so my current wife and children are still a part of my life.
1009
No-Comfortable-2728 Mar 27, 2026 +196
Oh yea there are A LOT of things I would do differently and I wasted so many years not enjoying life the way I should’ve, but if that meant I wouldn’t get to see my daughter again, no thanks.
196
Muted-Doctor8925 Mar 27, 2026 +74
Every decision you’ve ever made, good or bad, has led you to this moment is life I’m with you
74
BestButterscotch8579 Mar 27, 2026 +63
In this situation it would be nearly impossible for you to have the same children
63
FiftyShadesOfGregg Mar 27, 2026 +93
Well then I guess what I’d do is grieve inconsolably, slip into a deep depression I’d likely never come out of, possibly slip into insanity given no one would believe what I was going through was even real, and live out my days in abject loneliness fearing it could all be taken away again. And buy bitcoin.
93
BestButterscotch8579 Mar 27, 2026 +11
It ain't all bad, when you've got a big ol ball of space-titties
11
Thick_Impress_105 Mar 27, 2026 +38
Same. This situation legit sounds like a nightmare to me
38
ChickenSalad96 Mar 27, 2026 +7
Exactly my thoughts. How tf can you remember everything you did in what particular order to get to where your life is now? Sure, life sucks in its own way now, but I can't fathom ending up in a reality where my loved ones aren't there anymore.
7
AquaBlueSea Mar 27, 2026 +11
Impossible. Even if you arrive back in time just before having sex, tiny variation in stroke will completely change the w***** amongst millions of sperms and you’ll have different kids. Go back a little further and the butterfly effect will be wild.
11
Inevitable_Bit_9871 Mar 27, 2026 +8
A different egg means a different kid as well, sperm is just a fertilizer with half of DNA, it is NOT a tiny baby that grows.
8
drainedguava Mar 27, 2026 +4
Honey, we NEED to have sex at this exact moment right now
4
GozerDGozerian Mar 27, 2026 +6
You’d still have a better chance at winning the l****** than having the same child.
6
dalekaup Mar 27, 2026 +16
"a part" because "apart" would mean they are not in your life.
16
IPlayAroundTooMuch Mar 27, 2026 +5
I also choose this guy's current wife and children
5
flabergasterer Mar 27, 2026 +4
This brings me joy. This should’ve been my first thought. Whoops.
4

3

talk to female classmates more
383
NomadicScribe Mar 27, 2026 +173
I would definitely do this and take more social risks. I held back way too often at that age from fear of rejection.
173
Pochechoe Mar 27, 2026 +23
I talked too much lol
23
Familiar-Dot7446 Mar 27, 2026 +24
This right here! Spent my 20s playing it safe, dodging rejection like it was the plague. Wish I'd gone for it more, life's too short, ladies!
24
Agusfn Mar 27, 2026 +15
would you? it's easy to look back and say "i would have done better". but when you're on those situations again you might very well shit yourself the same way
15
NomadicScribe Mar 27, 2026 +7
No question. That was 22 years ago for me. I haven't just gained insight and experience since then, I have a fundamentally different worldview. I'm not saying that as a generic statement either, I was raised in an explicitly socially maladaptive setting. Getting away from all that did wonders for my ease and confidence.
7
PixelSkillZ- Mar 27, 2026 +55
Honestly same… hindsight hits hard when you realize how many laughs and memories you skipped just by staying in your shell.
55
mighty_phi Mar 27, 2026 +31
Unironically yes. Still hitd for me. Turned 23 and feel like I didn't make enough memories.
31
GozerDGozerian Mar 27, 2026 +40
My friend, 23 is nothing. You’ve got plenty of time to make those memories.
40
bicreator Mar 27, 2026 +16
This, hard. I'm 32, realised my mistake at 30 and even in those 2 years have i taken more risks, made more friends, and started making the memories. Go for it.
16
Zockerjimmy Mar 27, 2026 +5
34 here, i want/need to start living but its so hard and anxiety inducing to even start

15
oldwestprospector Mar 27, 2026 +15
Made it to NYC (always wanted to go) after me and an ex separated, we have kids together so it hit especially hard at the time. The nyc trip lasted 5 days but I'll never forgot them, will be going back. Lived in AZ for a year, been to Mexico a few times, visited Germany with my mom when I was a kid, random weekend getaways in different states. I grew up in Iowa so that's pretty good for me, will take the kids with when they get older, it will just be a little different. 🙂
15
pimento_mori Mar 27, 2026 +8
People say this, but I’d rather find someone I can travel with.

8
littlejim49 Mar 27, 2026 +15
My time has passed, but if you’re in your 20’s this is the best time to make an entrepreneurial business or pursue interesting career field. Without decent guidance or direction it’s kind of difficult, but if you land a good career or internship where you can learn and grow and provide value as an employee that would be ideal. don’t let brain rot, keep up with studies, try to balance a social life. Have fun but keep priorities straight and have some goals. Just enjoy the time being a young adult and kid, more care free, you’re only young once. You also reap what you sow, so invest in your self, to build your skills up for later in life, explore interests and activities. If I could have afforded to travel more i think that would be a good experience to have when younger, lots of unique cultures and cool areas to sightsee.

I'd probably skip the whole "figuring myself out" phase and just start collecting cassettes way earlier. Also would've bought that '92 F-150 I saw sitting in some guy's yard for $800 instead of walking away thinking I was being smart with money. Sometimes the dumb purchases turn out to be the best ones.

i'd stop trying to figure everything out so fast like i'd just actually live instead of spending so much time planning and worrying about where i was supposed to be. 21 with the perspective of now would be dangerous in the best way also i'd start investing immediately. even like $50 a month. just do it younger me

Buy bitcoin, pressure my parents to get mold testing or AT LEAST buy air purifiers, and change my major to cybersecurity. I’d also go to a few doctors to use my current knowledge. No more medical mysteries. I’d get my shit sorted out and avoid a decade of unnecessary suffering.

I'd tell a girl I went to high school with that her younger sister is suicidal and will try successfully in a year or so, be with her and encourage her heavily to get help. I barely knew them both but seeing their mum wail at the funeral destroyed me.
