The same if your language uses another type of letters than the Lating alphabet: Which orientation and direction do you imagine your set of letters as?
I am not what you are saying but I have to admit it’s a thought provoking question. Like I can imagine letting “A” pointing upwards because of the arrow like shape.. is that what you mean?

No, all the letters are on/in a line. Which way and direction is that line oriented?
ABC?
CBA?
A
B
C?
C
B
A?
Or something else altogether?

I thought everyone imagined it the same? Assuming I’m understanding what you mean here

Ok.. then. I would think most people would imagine it the way that it’s usually lined up, since we are talking about the alphabet used in the English.. so. ABCDEF.. right to left in normal sequence.

brings up another good question of why did the guy who invented the keyboard put it like that

This is a fun rabbit hole to go down! If I recall, people were typing too fast on mechanical typewriters, causing the arms to collide. The keyboard was designed to slow it down.

I think less slow down and more put commonly used letters far apart on the keyboard so the arms were never close to each other

I tend to agree with you. I think it has to do with the frequency of the usage of each letters. Although I also question the placement of the letters. I think vowels should be set in the home key position.

Look up alternative keyboard layouts. They have been around a long time. Edit: Non-QWERTY keyboard layouts like Dvorak and Colemak aim to improve typing speed and comfort…

I'm trying to imagine taking that image and slowly rotating it upside down. I can't do it. I keep thinking about individual letters being rotated upside down. I can't do the whole block at once.

So there is no picture in my head, just audio. I hear the letters being read out in order.
