TRT World - India avoids clash with Trump after his 'hellhole on planet' and 'gangsters with laptops' post
New Delhi calls Trump's comments about India "uninformed, inappropriate and in poor taste" while emphasising strong bilateral ties without escalating into a major diplomatic row.

Mass mobilization of resources takes time. Ww1 didn't start until after a month of the crisis. Ww2 in the west was just total ambargo and politics, didn't actually start until 8 months after invasion of Poland.

Heritage Foundation and US Department of War have long released files indicating build up for the upcoming wars. There is an ongoing arms race all over the world from EU to China. US will invade Greenland and Canada, US will fight a war with China over Taiwan. Russia is a partner of USA until the interests eventually clash. President isn't planning shit, whether it's Trump, Biden, Vance or whoever the f*** the next one is.
-4
ponzy1981 1 day ago +2
Dept of War? You really buy into that fake name change? Only Congress can change the name of a federal dept. and they have not done that. It’s still the Department of Defense.
2

Congress? How many divisions do they have? Nobody needs their approval to start wars.
3

I am talking about changing the name of the Dept of Defense. We should not normalize that false name. Hegseth is out of control with every single move. He even pressured scouting to change Eagle requirements.

When historians are chronicling it in the future, they will likely consider the last 20 years of skirmishes and military action by the U.S. to be part of the lead up. It hasn't started yet if you also only count physical violence and not whatever comms/cyber warfare has occurred via both propaganda etc. I don't know if I envy or pity historians a couple centuries from now lol.

We are probably a region away to officially declare it WW3. Think about it: The Middle East, Europe, Americas, India, and Africa all are in some sort of conflict. The only place that is not clashing at the moment is Asia and people are speculating that China will try and take Taiwan while North Korea are testing missiles once more.

India has never viewed the United States as an ally, and the United States has never viewed India as one either. At best, the relationship was that of two friendly nations. Owing to Trump’s theatrics, even that limited warmth now appears to have faded.

2

Which is important because Alzheimer's suffers tend to be increasingly vulnerable and reach out for help while NPD triggers extreme behavior and bursts of rage. What Trump is exhibiting is a much more dangerous form of brain failure than Alzheimer's.

Because they're the mature one of the two; in every bilateral interaction, there are two sides. A schizoid may cut you off, then get out of his car at the next signal and cuss you out, even though he's the one at fault. The mature path here, is to simply not engage. India's doing this, and tbh, so are Canada, the EU, China, Japan, the Philippines, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Mexico, Australia and presumably most others. For what it's worth, the US embassy in New Delhi was served a complaint, and they were deeply apologetic and tried their best to de-flame.

Huge numbers of Indians speak English. They may not speak it fluently, but it is their second or third language. How many languages does Trump speak? (its one language)
203
IronicStrikes 1 day ago +60
More like half. He has the vocabulary of a toddler. That's part of why they elected him twice.
60
hs1308 1 day ago +34
English is the second language for most Indians. In fact, it's the first common language that unites the country. Two Indians from different regions may not be speak the other person's language so they would communicate in English naturally. All communication in corporate or business context happens in primarily in English. People do speak in other languages of course but say you are sending an email to a colleague or your manager, that will be expected in English. The beurocratic work is also communicated primarily in English, along with regional languages. English even dominates when it comes to books, magazines or newspapers. By far. So English is a very common language in India, most educated folks can read, write and speak it to some extent. A huge population is in fact pretty fluent at it.
34
Drak_is_Right 1 day ago +6
Ya, thats the b**** of a problem that comes with being a center of the birth of civilization. Dialect fracture from being a language founder. And not just a modern language founder (like England is, where you can go 100 miles and not understand each other), but an ancient one. The language shift from part to part can be extreme. England left India with a lot of bureaucratic messes, but leaving English as its second language did it a favor in many ways. especially as English became the language of business and education between many countries.
6
tenkwords 1 day ago +16
Just got back from my first trip to India (Mumbai). Was actually pretty amazed at how common English signage was and how many Indians spoke English. I found myself wondering if it was confirmation bias because I was in the more "business" part of Mumbai or if it's just that common. Sure the accent was pretty strong in many cases but f*** it man, I'm in their country and they're making an effort to speak my language. I'm grateful for any attempt they bother to make.
16
Bubbly_Professor_238 1 day ago +7
English is pretty common here, a lot of us are taught to speak it from a young age. And in a city like Mumbai, it's extremely common for people to speak fluent or near fluent English. I myself have English as a first language!
7
tenkwords 22 hr ago +3
Fair enough. I deal with Indians regularly (from outside India) but wasn't sure if English proficiency was common, or if it was just the selection bias of "The english speaking guys are the ones that get to deal with the North Americans". Certainly english signage was pretty much everywhere I looked, so I suspected that english proficiency was pretty common. In the Netherlands for example, seemingly everyone speaks english but signage is still generally in Dutch anywhere that's not specifically tourist focussed. (like you'd expect). In Mumbai English seemed more common on signage than Hindi. I like how joyful Indian culture is. Ya'll know how to party.
3
navneet2131 23 hr ago +3
To them it was you who had a strong accent
3
cynical_mundane 21 hr ago +2
In some of the fancier schools in India like the one I went to, you were penalized by the teachers if you spoke more Hindi than English because the latter suggests polish. Coloniol hangover is very apparent here.
2
crimsonhues 13 hr ago +1
You were likely in north or central Mumbai. South Mumbai is more touristy and as far as signage goes, it is no different from north/central Mumbai.

About 3% of India's GDP is from remittances, so Indian expat workers sending money home is fairly significant in economic terms. A lot of it comes from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf as well as from the West. But for China remittances are negligible.

I always find this argument a bit weird, when Mexicans started coming back from the US in 2014 and emigration stagnated. The GDP wasn't significantly affected as those Mexicans started working in Mexico which also increases the GPD.

Current PM not speaking up for us Indian in this scene is worst than whatever ridiculous things BJP said about former PM Dr Manmohan Singh for being silent .

Unsurprising. India (and indians in general) wants desperately for the US to like it. Indians in general clamour to increase their proximity to whiteness routinely (even so far as to bleach their skin) so this is not a shock. It would be more shocking if India stood up for itself against trump and the US, instead of bootlicking

Or you know, maybe not responding to a clearly demented child molester with the maturity of a spoiled 8 year old is a much better option when he's rambling like the uneducated shitfart he is. Also didn't Modi and the Indian government explicitly defy Trump after he falsely claimed to ease the Pak v Ind tensions? And don't they continue to defy him by still dealing with Russian oil? If he wants to dig his own grave and be openly racist to THE highest income bracket by race in his country then go ahead, see where it lands for the conservatard movement. It's funny that you would rather just be racist yourself and add to the discord on a completely irrelevant point but you do you. Another deranged, lonely likely fat loser with the education of a lawnmower to add to the list.

This is a pretty dumb troll take tbh. You’re taking a country of 1.4+ billion people and flattening it into one mindset, then assigning motives like “desperate for approval” as if geopolitics runs on insecurity instead of strategy. Countries don’t “bootlick,” they hedge and align based on interests Ironically, a country like Turkey (article is Turkish media) is much more subservient to the USA than India is “Indians want to be white” line is not relevant to geopolitics And the idea that India never “stands up for itself” just doesn’t match reality. It routinely takes independent positions when it suits its interests, even when that annoys the US or Europe. That’s literally how most countries operate. Such as buying Russian oil despite the West sanctioning it.

What nonsense. If India wanted to please USA then India would have done 100s of photo ops with Trump when he said he stopped the war last year not outright reject Trumps claims, stopped buying Russian military equipment and oil, etc.

one can't generalize the whole country of the work that the current administration is doing after winning their third term, the stock markets here in india have literally shown **0** growth in the past 1 year, the party has absolutely no guts to take a stand for their country, they are just way too silent for our liking. Every guy who pays taxes in india knows this very well that the current administration is wayyy too involved in their internal politics rather than focusing outside thinking that the geopolitical situation is going to resolve itself
