Misleading heading. India had MIRV 10+ years back. This is actually their first ICBM test.

Any country that can launch rockets to LEO, is already capable of turning those rockets into ICBMs by shifting to a ballistic trajectory. The main problems to overcome at that stage are being able to create warheads, getting the missile accurate enough for the tragets you have planned, and to make sure you can then position that entire platform as a deterrent.

An inaccurate ICBM is still an ICBM though.

100%. And that's why early Soviet ICBMs had such massive warheads (up to 5 MT in some cases), because their accuracy was piss poor. Making sure that missing a target by even a kilometer wouldn't be too much an issue.

Just because they can doesn’t mean it’s practical. Being able to test, store, fuel, launch under adverse weather conditions at a moment’s notice, and not explode over your own nation are nontrivial problems. R7 and Atlas were retired very quickly from combat duty because of those issues. (They remained in civil use. Soyuz is a direct descendant of the R7 in fact!) You just can’t effectively wage war with a regular orbital launch system.

Nuh if it's Agni 5 with MIRV, then it was already tested a while back. Not sure if it's Agni 6 cause it has a supposed range 10000 kms + and this notam was only for 3500 kms, even Agni 5 has a range b/w 5000km-8000km. So, this probably be another older agni variant with more modifications.

If india issues notam grater than 5000 then our neighbor will scramble ships to track and monitor maybe the limited the distance and this was to test the mirv payload delivery and its accuracy

India has rockets to go to moon, so they had ICMBs that pretend to be Medium Range Ballastic Missiles from a long time too. Even before they had MIRVs. India downplays its missiles so that folks in west dont worry too much !! This MIRV might have had multiple hypersonic glide vehicle payloads given how it changed directions multiple times post hitting upper atmosphere. Other than China no one has it so they underplayed and its officially another Agni test .US was working on its Dark Eagle HGV and that is kept secret too. Other than water downed official release this was most likely multiple hypersonic Dhvani HGV with high maneuverability pretending to be MIRV payload. India officially still doesn’t have ICBMs lol

Genuine question, but how can they have had MIRV 10+ years back but no ICBM tests until now? Did they launch the MIRV's on an orbital vehicle or something like that? Genuinly curious because I don't understand.

The theory is we have ICBM and we're not making it public as it would spook West. China estimated the range of Agni 5 to 8000+km while it was lower to that officially

deep7070 2 days ago +3
True. India actually did 2 tests and in one of the videos, the missile after reaching a certain height did a maneuver and started flying parallel to the earth instead of the Ballistic trajectory. They probably tested some new capability.

With China being aggressive towards all its neighbors it makes sense that India would want to prioritize this stuff.

US military this year: Regime change in Venezuala, stole their resources, threaten to annex Canada and Greenland, attempted regime change in Iran, war that included killing a school fulls of girls, arming civilians in Iran. (I'm definitely forgetting a lot) Chinese military this year: Single IQ take: "Chyna is so aggressive maannnnn"

We just ignore Taiwan, Philippines, and them claiming other people's territory as their own.

US: Literally steals resources in Venezuala, attacks Iran, killing hundreds of schoolgirls, funds a genocide, and supports a person that they had on their most wanted terrorist liist as president of Syria. 0 IQ Listnookor: "but according to the propaganda I read on CIA Today News, Chyna is attacking Taiwan tomorrow, and also, it has invaded the Phillipines!! Chyna also stole my land!! Chyna bad" I'm glad we have American propaganda; it acts as a brain rot centrifuge lmao

Hmm I wonder if this a googleable question on China's aggression towards these countries.... As of early May 2026, China has maintained a near-daily presence of military aircraft and vessels around Taiwan, following record-breaking activity in 2025. Major "encirclement" or large-scale, multi-day, "joint sword" style drills have occurred at least twice in 2026, following a major "Justice Mission 2025" exercise in late December 2025. 2025 saw a record of 3,764 air incursions by the People's Liberation Army , a 22% increase from 2024. For the Philippines Scarborough Shoal Barrier April 2026 China directly blocked access to the shoal by deploying a 352-meter floating barrier and positioning CCG and militia vessels to physically obstruct Filipino fishermen and patrol ships Sandy Cay Standoff May 2026 China and the Philippines traded direct accusations over territorial incursions. Chinese personnel landed on the unoccupied sandbar, prompting Manila to dispatch coast guard ships to drive them off. Luzon Combat Drills April–May 2026 deployed a naval carrier strike group led by the Liaoning. They conducted aggressive live-fire combat readiness patrols directly east of Luzon Island. I don't recall claiming America was a peace loving country. You on the other hand are scraping the barrel for those social points.

Sure the proof is all over social media i suppose? Must be why Pakistan spent $5 million it couldn't afford to lobby the US government to beg them to call for a ceasefire lmao

You can trust one side to use it in self-defense only. You can trust the other side to sell bomb parts to terrorists.

Don't know why India is investing in this at all ...all their dispute have been with neighbours and conflicts have been about borders. The greatest danger is the fact india is corrupt within and it's own people are ripped off and will revolt. Countries are so vast and developed now, they would easily absorb a few ICBM hits without deterrence or surrender...

Are you being rhetorical or genuine? This is an incredibly naive thing to ask when you literally answer it in your first sentence. And projecting capability itself is more necessary than actually launching it. Also what kind of non-sequiturs are you fielding, its like 3 different claims all stitched together, all contentious at best. Try harder next time paxi
