Man... you shoot at a tanker, you get "summoned." I forget to take out the trash, I get yelled at.

Against India, neither does Iran. India has been their long term ally. Gave safe haven for their ships which would have been sunk by the American navy. And is one of the few Trading partners who will buy large quantities of their oil.

That's how it works with diplomats, that's literally the word for it. They get summoned, or they request an audience. The whole point of diplomats and embassy is to keep a civil and open line of exchange, no matter what.

The IRGC has reportedly gone to a “decentralized” command structure since all the top leadership have pretty much been killed. The IRGC and Iranian Government can also barely agree on things during peace time. So, you’re gonna have a lot of people saying one thing and a lot of people doing another.

That would be a bad idea. Hindu nationalists will riot and murder them.
-53
the_stuck_introvert Apr 19, 2026 +32
The rallies happen quite frequently. India is a lot different from the propaganda that you are fed.
32
dantoddd Apr 19, 2026 -29
I am from Sri Lanka. I have a lot more context than most non-Indians. Are you seriously saying Indian muslims will be allowed rally in support of Iran shooting an indian ship.
-29

sri lankan talking about minority rights btw

dantoddd Apr 19, 2026 -8
Just because we did some terrible things to Tamils doesnt mean we cant call a s**** a s****. We acknowledge our mistakes and our politics are now free of ethno nationalist bullshit. Can you say the same about indian politics.
-8
c10h15nrush Apr 19, 2026 +1
Our politics are DEFINITELY free of ethnic bullshit. Religious and caste issues persist.
1
fin-freedom-fighter Apr 19, 2026 +33
You think india is sri lanka? To kill and do ethnic cleansing
33
c10h15nrush Apr 19, 2026 +24
They have been doing it till now. They also did a lot of rallies for Palestine support. What’s stopping them from doing it in more numbers now?
24
dantoddd Apr 19, 2026 -18
Ok i think we are talking about slightly different things here. I thought op meant to say muslims will rally in support of iran shooting the ship. Looking back i probably misunderstood what op wrote Edit: u r not op
-18
the_stuck_introvert Apr 19, 2026 +2
They have. We have people desecrate monuments to support their umma. India is absolutely tolerant. There are right wing frings who love to dunk on helpless minorities. But we have always been most tolerant of such actions. The most we would get is a public outcry.
2
dantoddd Apr 19, 2026 +1
I am not saying all of india is like that. You guys are overwhelmingly really nice.

20

The IRGC definitely doesn't.
20
iamapizza Apr 18, 2026 +3
Can we say that for any of the belligerent involved
3
d1andonly Apr 18, 2026 +8
Iran drew first blood by leveraging proxies to disrupt peace in the region.

India their biggest ally 🤣 This IRGC leadership are mentally unstable.
23
hakenwithbacon Apr 18, 2026 +72
India isn't their biggest ally. That would be either Russia or China. India is at best lukewarm to the current Iranian leadership to balance the relationship they have with Israel
72
Stifffmeister11 Apr 18, 2026 +26
India was buying iranian oil in the past , out of all the countries iran has given its chabahar port to indian company , don't think india and iran had any problem in past until this incident ..
26
hakenwithbacon Apr 18, 2026 +22
That doesn't equate to them being their biggest ally. India stopped buying oil when sanctions were imposed. China continued to buy it till recently and only stopped because of the war and difficulty with getting ships across the strait. So if India is the biggest ally by your measure, then is China the biggestest ally?
22
Stifffmeister11 Apr 18, 2026 -6
I am not saying india is ally I am saying india - iran have decent relationship... But at same time india have good relationship with isreal and arab countries so india have diplomatically balance all that

and for iran also india is the biggest supporter of iran in south asia

The Islamic Republic committed more war crimes by doing this. It should be held accountable. Every country needs to expel the Iranian ambassador at the very minimum. They should also cut off al trade with the regime.

What about the US Blockade ?
20
trevor426 Apr 18, 2026 +12
Has the US fired at/on any ships? A blockade isn't necessarily a war crime. I know they announced humanitarian ships could pass, but knowing the Trump admin, it wouldn't shock me if they did block those humanitarian ships and commit another war crime.
12
Responsible-Fig-1131 Apr 19, 2026 +1
Yes US shot their Navy ship invited by India for joint exercise in Indian ocean at the beginning of the war... Then this Gaurav Arya started media war bad mouthing. This gave the wrong signal. Let the Foreign minister speak . Why these media trying to represent India .They are hell bent to spoil Indian image.... Same they did during operation sindhoor. When will they learn lessons. May they got offended and this happened. Otherwise India and Iran had good history.
1
keostyriaru Apr 18, 2026 +9
Are you claiming that a blockade is a war crime?
9
Cueller Apr 18, 2026 +10
Its not a blockade (act of war), its a special epstein blocking operation.

India will not get involved in this because three of the four parties involved in this war are not rational beings. Also India is not very good at this third party intervention, they have done it the past and it didn’t lead to good outcomes so the only thing to do is stay out.

Worked for Switzerland. I think this is one of the few things India is doing that is clever.
8
National-Two2417 Apr 18, 2026 +4
Switzerland doesn't have constant border skirmishes with its neighbors tho.
4
rameshpawar4466 Apr 18, 2026 +8
India has strong military. China won't attack us they are also trying to make good relations and we don't care about rest of our neighbors.
8
RodrickJasperHeffley Apr 18, 2026 +12
india is not switzerland and has a strong military with the ability to fight its own wars. it is among the top four militaries in the world. india has not received much help from western countries except from france and maybe israel so it should not expect much help in the future either and it is strong enough and knows how to look after itself. also india does not take sides because it chooses not to and wants to maintain good relationships with all countries
12
AwayWealth8871 Apr 18, 2026 +3
In addition to France and Israel, the Russians and Indians are pretty close too started in 1970s and has continued up till now.
3
Bulky_Reveal_1937 Apr 18, 2026 -3
But is India not very reliant on the Strait? why tolerate Iran closing it ur forcng u to pay a toll, when you coule cooperate with England, france, uk, italy, .. to open the strait for all international traffic. Independently of the US, so not taking sides.
-3
No_Tree_8144 Apr 18, 2026 +8
for the same reason pretty much no asian country is getting involved too much. america (in particular) and Europe overall has for a long time caused a mess across the world and just kinda get up and leave when they're done. leaving everyone else in the region to deal with the mess. lets say india does get involved and ends up on the bad side of the IRGC, what exactly are they gonna do if trump gets bored of this whole thing 3 weeks or 3 months (or even 3 days tbh) from now and leaves? countries like india are gonna be left trying to make do with whatever situations left. as of now from indias perspective they've had some of the most tankers pass thru the strait. when you compare it with pretty much any other country. and they probably realize that the IRGC command structure is a total mess and one moronic battalion is enough to go rogue and do something stupid. both the political and military leadership made it pretty clear india gets a pass so they're much better off having backdoor conversations about this whole thing to make sure it doesn't happen again.
8
Kooky_Strategy_9664 Apr 18, 2026 -1
So what?
-1
hedokitali Apr 18, 2026 -16
Why shoot at those tankers when you can just let the mines do their thing?
-16
Apart-Oil-8731 Apr 18, 2026 +3
Because there are no mines. They’re shooting people with dingy boats.
3
Willing_Future9557 Apr 18, 2026 -7
Soo Iran shot them down?
-7
Professional-Ad3874 Apr 18, 2026 +13
Unless India has tech I haven't heard about you can't shoot down a boat. But if you mean sink then no, the boats didn't sink.
13
Willing_Future9557 Apr 18, 2026 +1
I mean the title says Indian ships shot
1
feor1300 Apr 18, 2026 +3
Do you think they're moving oil via Zeppelin? Cause last I checked there's not a lot of airships still around.
3
Willing_Future9557 Apr 18, 2026
No idea
0
dave_gormen_3 Apr 19, 2026
I heard there were global helium shortages. Zeppelin would be a good way to deliver helium one way. not sure how you get the Zeppelin back though.
0
feor1300 Apr 19, 2026 +1
There's an alternative to Helium for airships. It's a real blast. :P
