Ather, TVS, Hero, Ultraviolette and Bajaj must ramp their productions and reduce prices on their EV 2Wheelers. Short term hit for long term gain. Ather has a decent charger network as well.

this is a huuuuge window of opportunity for automobile companies with an ev line. they need to ramp up and scale production as quickly as possible because people are going to be looking for an ev now, and for the foreseeable future (if they can afford it) because they'll remember how risky the oil supply is.
india went from 2.5% in 2021 to 8% EV penetration in 2025. they have a target of 30% by 2030 but honestly they should be aiming for more by then

Our smart and efficient govt (state and central )won't let that happen.
Karnataka just EV tax incentives for cars above 25lakh. Expect others to do the same.

25L is luxury market, so of course they should be taxed. A normal family EV car like Tiago is 8L. Very few EV sales are beyond 25L . And if you think otherwise you are living in a bubbl

Yeah...they can't afford to pass on the increase to the consumers.
People can b**** about their gas going up by a dollar but they will be fine overall. People in Asia don't have much room for error.
One good thing that can come out of this is a significantly higher rate of EV adoption.
Hope the world doesn't fumble this.

with a lot of poor people it makes sense they cant increase the prices much w out negatively affecting them.
also something like 60% of indias economy is just private consumption. gas getting more expensive would lead to inflation going up and consumption going down which is gonna mess w their economy.
honestly indias private consumption heavy gdp is how they survived the last few years. oil spiked up a lot during 2022 for a few months, and they got tariffed to oblivion last year, but they still had extremely strong growth rates

It’s the right move given the circumstances. You can sort out tax shortfall later but the least fortunate would feel the impact of price increases immediately so they need the help right away.

Fuel in India is highly taxed. By adjusting these taxes the Indian government can raise or lower the prices. This means that ordinary Indians do not see any significant benefit from a fall in international prices *or* any significant penalty from a rise in international prices.

Since there's less oil to go around, someone has to go without, and price will go up until that happens.
India has decided to subsidize to make sure it's not them, and fair enough. Ultimately though, if every country does the same, prices will go up reguardless because someone HAS to be priced out.

They are far from unique. Pretty much all Asian countries other than the few oil-rich ones or rich folks which massive reserves are going through the same thing.

Dude price hike is coming for sure...Nayara has already increased its rates. Wait till the elections are over, they'll hike after that. Where's propaganda in this? This is how it's always happened...

Also the fact that Moral Code of Conduct prevents making major policy decisions that would affect the voters political inclination in those states but I think we can skip that as well.

Im a bad optimist, but you know the way that the global financial crisis and pandemic super charged rightwing populism across the world?
Maybe this inevitable energy crisis can do the same for left wing populism especially given the direct cause of the crisis.

**Assam**, **Kerala**, **Tamil Nadu**, **West Bengal**, and **Puducherry out of these states I think only Assam is significant for BJP other states don't have much BJP presence most probably West Bengal will probably change due to anti-incumbency but I honestly don't see BJP giving competition in south.**
