Seems like the biggest reason would be that SCOTUS snipped his ghoulies out from under him when it came to tariff powers. He can’t issue targeted tariffs so easily now and even the tariffs he has control over are very temporary.

Isn’t that why they are making up a case that there are unfair trade imbalances. Which will allow him to put tariffs on countries?

Isng that the current Tariffs? He declared that everyone has a trade imbalance with us and used that as a way to place them. He cant do permanent tarrifs

The sad part is the section 122 tariffs are also likely illegal, but they'll expire before the cases can get litigated/appealed all the way up. For section 122 there needs to be a balance of payment deficit, that we currently are not experiencing. It's super neat.

Once a geopolitical teacher in Germany told me (in 2012) that only 4 major countries can be said to have almost independent of US in their foreign & defence policy - Russia, China, India and France. She said this will remain so in next 2 or 3 decades.
Trump in just 14 years is going to increase such countries. Today Japan, S Korea, Brazil, Germany, Poland, heck even Canada & the UK are seeking ways to diversify from the US - both from US geopolitics (which is basically bribing Trump now) and US defence. It will take time but the trust in the US is gone. Really gone.

Trump talking about a kill switch in all their defence products has really woken everyone up. That showing off stuff is so dumb but consquential.

That was more or less public knowledge. Right around the time it got out that you couldn't program mission plans into recent fighter jets without connecting to The Manufacturer's cloud computers.
The arrangement makes the power obvious. The existence of the feature made it obvious it would be repeated across hardware.

>Today Japan, S Korea, Brazil, Germany, Poland,
Japan and SK are being pushed ever closer to China. There's no reason for either of them to maintain strong relations with the US at this point.
Nobody is going to want to buy US arms at all and the tech sector is going to get absolutely throttled as all these countries cycle off of Google, AWS and Microsoft products. Apple will be harder but will likely do what's asked of them and tend to have better security measures than the rest.

SK maybe, Japan definitely not. If anything their current government is doubling down hard on antagonizing China and sucking up to Trump.

The current Japanese government is trying to win more US attention after pushing China further away.
Not sure how much more attention US can give. The orange man does want 350 billions that Japan promised during their trade talk last year.
We will know soon after they meet in 19th this month

Your Geopolitical teacher indeed was right. France is 50/50, their economy is at the mercy of Germany now.
Unless one has the ability to control their currency devaluation or revaluation of it, one can never be free.

They all have their own agreements and groups without the U.S.
We're becoming the fat beefy overfed bully who goes around bullying...but this bully doesn't just pick one "nerd"...he starts c*** with everyone in sight...well eventually it'll be FAFO...
But the bully hops on his private jet that a country gifted him, and difts off to a private island while everyone is left with the mess.

It is time to recognize that, leaving aside the capricious to the point of looking insane US head of state, the US diplomatic corp has been degraded to the point that activities that were regular and well understood just 15 months ago, like negotiating a trade deal, have become difficult and will become impossible unless the US promptly reverses course.
The US SHOULD be sending experienced diplomats to middle eastern states to address their concerns about a sudden war and attacks on them stemming from same... Those diplomats are gone.

Well, the hold was more due to this: https://www.reuters.com/world/china/us-opens-new-unfair-trade-probes-rebuild-trumps-tariff-pressure-2026-03-11/ than the Iran issue.

I remember one interview from Howard Lutnik who said US did not seal the deal because Modi did not call Washington back within 2 weeks.
Fast forward to February this year when the US supreme Court made the tariffs illegitimate the very next day Indian bureaucrats were going to US for fixing the details of the India US trade deal which was previously agreed. As soon as supreme Court declared the tariffs illegitimate India pulled out of the conversation. A week later Lutnik was in India to discuss the trade deal.
Let's see how much time now Lutnik has to get the trade deal done.

Another reason may be that India is trying to rebuild their reputation in BRICS after Modi met with Bibi a few weeks before the Excursion and signed some deals, and then they ignominiously set up the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena to be sunk. Awkward that they are the host nation this year.

Its been reported by different sources now from both India and Iran, that India offered docking to all three Iranian ships including the Dena. But the Dena was already out of Indian waters so they asked Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka waited a few hours to make sure that they were not going to piss off America, and in that time the US submarine struck the ship. Almost everything is covered in this article.

Fake, the West and Americans socialists/traditionalists actually care more about BRICS than the nations in it lol. I have almost never seen an Indian, Chinese, Brazilian or our member nation ordinary citizens give a damn.

India asked IRIS DENA to be docked until the conditions are viable to move, they didnt stay back, whereas the other fleet is happily docked at the Indian waters! Also, India has bailed out Russia through a financial crisis by buying all their oil, so yeah, Russia aint gonna carry any grudges! Also, BRICS does not care about what an independent nation does, as long as they dont threaten the mutual interests of BRICS! And you really think anybody in BRICS cares for Iran??? If they cared, they would have been right beside Iran, helping them! This is the modern world, everybody is here to protect their own interests!
