How will they enforce it with encroaching on privacy of millions of 16+ users?

A government-issued ID is likely required to create a social media account.

makes sense on paper but how will this be enforced and implemented? if it requires everyone to submit and verify their ID with their accounts then it's just enabling easier surveillance

I assume it's due to trafficking. It's pretty bad over there.

"They'll find a way around it" is not really an excuse for not doing anything. You can use the same argument for any safety measure. But any reduction in harm is good if it doesn't have other side effects. Social media is addictive, it's a psychological drug. Prohibition hasn't made drugs disappear but for sure has reduced their usage.

The point is normalizing not using social media for children. A 100% success rate is neither required, nor the point

yea parenting is so easy and we have so much free time and energy. every parent should easely be able to do this. even though we dont know how to use social media responsibly ourself.

If you were not even ready to actively participate in your own child's development through every phase , why even have kids irresponsively The ban is good , I never said its bad , but its just the truth that ppl are gonna find ways around it , That's how always things been , Atleast try to Keep the damage done by social media to a Minimum for kids , Trying is all that matters

Eventhough they will find some ways around it the alternative dont have the same addictive algorithms like some of the popular once. The main issue is the brainwashing algorithm.

You also use that argument for murderers?  "Go work at a meat factory"?

Yes bit parents are so busy in today's world they don't have time to 24/7 watch what their kids are doing

How are they going to enforce it though?

I'm guessing the same way other countries are. Government issued ID check or VPN for those concerned about privacy/security. We have it in Australia and I'm all for it
