Was this written by the same folks who said Iran wasn’t a threat?

It means the professionals in the cia reported beforehand that the operation wasn't a good idea, but Trump ignored it. The same thing happened with Venezuela with a report saying that a civil war will eventually happen.

Yeah that seems likely. There’s a ton of vulnerable infrastructure here in the homeland, they’ve done multiple studies showing things like our power plants and other infrastructure have woefully inadequate security. Doesn’t help that the dinosaurs in congress have been utterly allergic to any meaningful regulation since Reagan as well.
So “private enterprise” frequently has dogshit cybersecurity, and even industries that ARE regulated, like healthcare, have vaguely worded standards and regulation like HIPAA dating back to the Clinton administration in 1996 that really ought to be meaningfully revised and codified with specific standards to harden these industries against attacks.
Countries like Iran could f*** up any number of things in the U.S. remotely, coupled with sporadic acts of terrorism, regardless of what the market manipulating blowhard likes to pretend is happening to the Fox News audience while they settle in with a delicious bottle of paste to snack on.
This nonsense isn’t a game, nothing was gained in the national interest by this conflict, if anything we’re all now just stuck paying additional tolls on oil transported through the strait that were completely avoidable by not wasting untold amounts of taxpayer money and several American lives achieving absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Same, American myself. No one here seems to care that we just terrorized millions. I talked to some people about it because it's literally been f****** me up mentally, and everyone just shrugs it off. Some don't even believe it happened and say "You're gonna believe Iran?" Some say, "So what? it's war". Others do agree its a shame but that's about the most you'll get.
And people were all up in arms about the 1-2 pilots that crashed in Iran and had to be rescued.
I feel for the pilots but man they're nothing compared to all the civilians and little girls that we killed. Everyone looks at me like I'm fucked up for saying that, because those are OUR guys. Except they chose to be there and do that. Those civilians and school girls did not choose to be in war.
Ugh I feel like I'm going insane because no one else is.

That pertains to nothing on the actual article. They’re stating that Iran would be a threat inside the actual US, due to the war and White House downplayed it.
Obviously the intelligence wasn’t true because there have been ZERO attacks inside the US.

The WMDs “were” very real. America knew of their existence because they helped Saddam build and deploy his arsenal of WMDs to attack the Iranians. Many of the precursors required for these weapons, along with dual use tech came directly from America and other European allies. Iran wasn’t willing to accept the dictatorship that America imposed upon them when they attempted to nationalize their resources for the good of their own people. Unfortunately the U.S. struggled to find WMDs in Iraq2 because the majority had already been used to indiscriminately kill tens of thousands of Iranians during the Iran/Iraq war.

I still remember a general testifying before congress that they found "WMDs". 25 year old barrels of chemicals that were so broken down they had send it to one of only three laser chromotography labs in the world (at the time) to identify what the sludge used to be.
When asked how dangerous the sludge was, the general replied, "well, I wouldn't want to drink it".

Ironically, we did end up finding lots of WMDs in Iraq. But tons of leaky gas shells in old bunkers, and expired rockets with bad motors aren't exactly "invasion justification"

Thing about this, while your argument is just ZOG conspiracy bullshit:
- Iran has actively been stopped from creating the bomb, Stuxnet and co. come to mind.
- Enriching to weaponsgrade levels gets faster the closer you are to it, if you have it up to ~60% or so, IIRC, it will only take a few weeks to get there.
- Iran purposefully has stopped at the above level, as the threat of them having it is/was more useful as a bargaining chip.
So, yes, Iran is only ~6-ish weeks aways from it, if they are allowed to do so, and decide to do so, perpetually.
Just, try using that thing between your ears? Its not hard.

They weren't a threat because they didn't want to get bombed and their leader didn't want to get killed. Now their leader has gotten killed and they're being bombed anyway the reason to not be a threat has changed.

> Was this written by the same folks who said Iran wasn’t a threat?
Although the article doesn't give specifics, it was probably written by the FBI's CI-12 counterintelligence unit, the same counter intelligence unit that was fired by FBI Director Kash Patel in late February and early March 2026.
This is the espionage squad, which was specifically responsible for monitoring Iranian threats, tracking foreign spies, and investigating assassination plots on U.S. soil.

Why would Iran attack the U.S.?
Trump is considering removing sanctions on Iran and let them charge tariffs of $2M on ships going through the strait. Iran can now just threaten to attack ships and 20% of the world's oil is embargoed. They are going to be rolling in money and be a major power player all thanks to Trump. I'd be surprised if they don't give Trump a medal as Hero of Iran.

Before the war, we had plenty of leverage. There was plenty we could do to ruin things for the Iranians such that they had to be reasonably passable global citizens from an international trade perspective.
We have now already destroyed pretty much all of that and now the IRGC has nothing to lose, and we outright murdered family members of the folks now making decisions. They have no incentive to not f*** the world back.
4
shootinjack3 days ago
Why would gulf nations accept that or abide by it long term. If a gulf nation’s ship refuses and the IRGC attacks it why would that gulf nation not retaliate and pull the same card?

None of the gulf nations have a military comparable to Iran. Iran has as many troops as the rest combined.

I worked with the “best of the best” from Saudi Arabia’s military once, they were sent to train with us, nothing against them as people, but I wouldn’t even put them in the top 2/3rds of any other military I have trained with.
IMO, nepotism and wealth seeking are too engrained in their culture for any kind of merit based system to work, which severely hampers their military.

'We keep meddling and pressuring this country, funding its enemies and surrounding it with military bases. After we stopped being able to coup them at will, we both propped up our military industrial complexes by endlessly saber rattling and grandstanding at each other for 40 years despite existing half a world away from one another.
Somehow being a persistent and borderline omnipotent existential threat that is too powerful to face directly has made the populace and government somewhat irate and open to considering asymmetric warfare.'
Man intelligence officers have the easiest job in the world, half of them are probably just reading the history books they took out of state schools and using some common sense.

When you attack someone, it is only normal that they prepare for future attacks.
You can see it with 911: the security theater is still in place, and America surely did end up going to war with Afganistan and Iraq.
So what comes out of this? Do people honestly think Iran will just... not do anything in case if Epstein files make the rounds again, or Trump need some excuse to lengthen his term?
All hands on deck for new missiles and active development for nuclear weapons seem to be the only solution.

>The FBI warned U.S. state and local law enforcement of an elevated threat posed by Iran's government to targets in the United States last month even as the White House sought to downplay the likelihood of an attack, a law enforcement intelligence report reviewed by Reuters shows.
>In the March 20 report, the FBI and other federal intelligence agencies cautioned that Iranian government "poses a persistent threat" to U.S. military and government personnel and buildings, Jewish and Israeli institutions, and Iranian dissidents in the U.S. Despite those warnings, the FBI and National Counterterrorism Center had not identified broad threats to the American public, the report said.
