The 12 tons of cocaine had a value of more than a billion euros. The ship had armed guards in order to protect the cargo, but they did not offer any resistance when they were stopped.

The armed guards are to stop other cartels, not authorities. They know they're outgunned and cartels expect a loss of a certain percentage anyway

Expect a percentage loss. Maybe, but not the whole damn shipment. If I were to send a billion euros worth of cocaine on a ship, I would make damn sure everyone who gets close will be fired upon.

That shipment is the percentage loss

Except you sent 10, getting detected and intercepted is basically Game Over for a single ship because they can't move very quickly and location has already been called in. It's a billion at street value, you're not making street value off this

Okay just assume these billion dollar shipments are happening every month for a bunch of years. Do you really think 1 shipment is worth making a fuss over ? The more fuss you make the more evidence you provide.

if you're shipping weed illegally, having it already be dried and concentrated just makes sense? longer shelf life, much denser/smaller so easier to smuggle for the same weight. less risk of air or water damage. plus an ability to sell at a higher unit price because its a refined product that just seems like common sense?

Weirdly you can buy hashish directly from the Ontario (ca) government. Seems like a much nicer process.

Cartels operate out of the safe haven created by Spain and Portugal, who would have guessed.

This was Europol law enforcement agencies. That’s why there were traffickers arrested instead of fishermen getting murdered in cold blood.

They will be deported to their own countries to try again as God intended

Solving a non problem. From the proletariat to the bourgeoisie, drugs are beloved past time. Also is mythical attributed to keeping the US economy afloat during the 08 reccession. I couldn't imagine my more open minded and generally thought better educated European cousins not needing just as much goop to get their loop.
