you can't trick me into watching that again

targetcowboy Apr 7, 2026 +140
I don’t usually get squeamish about stuff like this, but this one got me.
140
LADYBIRD_HILL Apr 7, 2026 +51
One of the most graphic things I've ever seen in animation, that's for sure
51
Indigocell Apr 8, 2026 +7
Never had to look away from an animated gore scene before. That looked awful.
7
GoodTato Apr 9, 2026 +2
And then you look away and you realise the sound design guys are just as evil as the animators.
2
oddtoddlr Apr 9, 2026 +3
It went on for so long
3
Wire_Cath_Needle_Doc Apr 8, 2026 +20
I’ve literally disembowled a human cadaver and felt a beating human heart in my hand and seen opened stomachs with guts just sitting there and the scene had me cringing. It just kept going and going. My own stomach felt uncomfortable
20
prazulsaltaret Apr 8, 2026 +5
That's crazy. Most I did was make a few dissection cuts in a dead human with a professor's guidance but I can t imagine ever being squeamish around gore that's not in front of me. How/why do cartoon guts get you if you ve held real ones?
5
Wire_Cath_Needle_Doc Apr 8, 2026 +7
It was violent and painful. Real people are calmly asleep under anesthesia. And surgery can seem brutal but it’s not “violent” if that makes sense. Doctors are there to heal
7
BroughtBagLunchSmart Apr 8, 2026
I was watching this on a train and keep having to look around to make sure no one saw me watching cartoon snuff p***.

Don't you like... handfuls of... spaghetti?
4

Are you sure?

I didn't even finish watching it the first time. Just started looking at my phone until it was over
-27
CrustedTesticle Apr 7, 2026 -26
Why watch the show then?
-26
tore_a_bore_a Apr 7, 2026 +76
The show isn't normally 30 seconds of Invincible's guts getting pulled out
76
Haikouden Apr 7, 2026 +14
Yeah I'm confused by their question lol. That scene was also apparently deliberately done to make some people queasy/uncomfortable. A small fraction of the show's runtime is gore and even then basically none of it is like that scene. I don't know about you but I couldn't look away during the train scene way back, but that was in part because of how shocking it was (and the dialogue/character stuff during it). But most is incomparable to the scene from the new episode.
14
paecmaker Apr 7, 2026 +11
Yeah, the show doesn't shy away from gore but it's either done fast as a chock effect or done so extremely over the top you can barely see what it's supposed to be. This scene was extremely visceral and dragged out beyond anything else in the show. The closest would probably be the flashback of when Cecil encounter the acid cloud and you could slowly see how his skin melted off, but not even that scene lasted as long as this.
11
break_card Apr 7, 2026 +1
I’m with you, I had to fast forward. No I don’t want to watch 30 seconds of his guts spilling out with the most disgusting, abhorrent ass sound effects conceivable.
1
AcademicPainting23 Apr 7, 2026 +234
Yup, this is not for the faint of heart. I don’t know what is next bc things look messy.

theClumsy1 Apr 7, 2026 +64
Mark isnt called Invincible because he manages to finish a fight without getting touched. He's called Invincible because he somehow survives getting his shit wrecked every week
64
GoodTato Apr 9, 2026 +3
I thought it was because you couldn't see him but that makes more sense

I was all choked up
6
AcademicPainting23 Apr 7, 2026 +20
I was screaming “let go”. So stupid. The squelching noises ugh. Most brutal scene of the show.
20
truckthunderwood Apr 7, 2026 +18
I'd spent a lot of the episode lamenting how c**** the animation in Invincible looks sometimes. By the end of the episode I thought I was going to throw up. Guess that was money well spent!
18
yourfavoritemusician Apr 8, 2026 +5
I like their tongue in cheek joke about how expensive animation is and how they cheat the system sometimes so they can spend the money elsewhere. For me the animation is good in the moments where it counts.
5
lockboy84 Apr 8, 2026 +1
You can say that again

If I had a nickle for every time Jeffrey Dean Morgan had a scene involving guts...
3

For anyone wondering with this clip, the actual gut wrenching part (pun semi-intended) is not in it.
47

That fight took a lot out of Mark
81
thefoag Apr 8, 2026 +5
Took a lot of guts really
5
FreyrPrime Apr 7, 2026 +95
I’m not particularly squeamish, but I had to look away from that final scene
95
OCGamerboy Apr 7, 2026 +39
Same. I read the comics and knew it was coming, and I still winced
39
FreyrPrime Apr 7, 2026 +65
Yep, it was WAY worse than in the comics. I think it was Marks desperation. The scene very accurately conveys that Mark knows he’s dying, and still finishes Conquest anyway, despite being disemboweled by hand.
65
ravenouscartoon Apr 7, 2026 +45
Yeah, I went back to the comic to check, and it really moves in the book, only a couple of panels really. The show seemed to drag it on forever. And the sound design. Yeesh I get why, and it was f****** brutal. But I did not enjoy it at all
45
greenufo333 Apr 7, 2026 +8
You're not suppose to enjoy it haha

Worst part about anything with bowels is the smell. Brutallll
3

That makes sense. Most of the accounts from ancient battlefields highlight the smell of perforated bowels.

Mark really showed he had guts to fight Conquest
50
MrPuroresu42 Apr 7, 2026 +38
What I love about this is the fact Conquest is pretty much a desperate Animal in this fight. He was so dominant and in control of the first fight, relishing teaching Mark a “lesson”. Here, as soon as Mark’s grip on his throat tightens, you can see Conquest go into Survival Mode, perhaps shocked that this “boy” is literally choking the life out of him. I like to think, that despite his nihilistic outlook and asking Thragg for a painful death, Conquest, like an animal, was desperate to survive and even frightened as the light left his eyes.
38
FactoryOfBradness Apr 8, 2026 +32
The show left out a bit of dialogue (unless I missed it) from the comics that gives a little more context. When Conquest goes into survival mode, it’s because he was also running out of breath when he chased Oliver to the planet. Mark then grabs him before he could take a breath, so he was running on empty. Mark notices that something is up and puts 2+2 together. He then realizes that he can win this fight, as long as he doesn’t let go and let Conquest breathe. It’s a big moment for Mark
32
ProudWheeler Apr 8, 2026 +13
I love that he is incapable of speaking the entirety of his last few moments alive. A real departure from how their first fight went. We only see his facial expressions and the increase in panic with his punches. And then we see the satisfaction on his face with the destruction he’s causing Mark’s body, thinking that he just needs to do some horrific things to this boy to get him to let go, since he still doesn’t have the Viltrum heart. All for none of that to work and for him to get the life choked out of him anyways. I love this whole fight and I love how it characterizes both Mark and Conquest.
13
IhamAmerican Apr 8, 2026 +2
But late but my absolute favorite (if that's the right word) part is the way Steven Yeun really gives it his all. I feel like I've never heard sounds of such absolute anguish and determination before. I was so completely immersed in the moment and it was all because of his incredible VA work
2
5am281 Apr 7, 2026 +17
I love how different this fight was from the Season 3 finale. Mark was not playing any games or letting Conquest talk at all. So much more personal
17
THEpottedplant Apr 9, 2026
The choking game is a game Not sure mark is playing it right tho

ThingCalledLight Apr 7, 2026 +17
My entire body went rigid during this scene. I was holding everything so tightly. It went on forever, it seemed. It was rough, homie. But well done.
17

The real justice for Glenn.
12
SledgexHammer Apr 8, 2026 +11
"You are NEVER going to breathe again!" God damn I loved that shit. Marks got plot armor he'll be fine.
11
FeralPsychopath Apr 9, 2026 +3
Disregarding the whole able to hold their breath for ages in space thing...
3
SledgexHammer Apr 9, 2026 +2
The timeline definitely isnt consistent lol but they can be killed by stopping their heart so they can die from asphyxiation. Maybe Mark managed beat the air out of his lungs so he had nothing to go on.
2
expectrum Apr 9, 2026 +3
It wasn't necessarily asphyxiation but a blood choke as well, stopping blood going to the brain can certainly kill a viltrumite. Furthermore they can HOLD their breath for a very long period of time but Mark caught Conquest when he didn't have any air in his lungs, so the combo proved particularly fatal.
3
FeralPsychopath Apr 9, 2026 +1
I saw someone write space is different because Mark was applying stress but in space they are still punching the literal shit out of each other.
1
communitypenis Apr 9, 2026 +1
They weren't being ploughed through mountains in space though 🤷‍♂️ it definitely leaves a bit up to your imagination
1
Elprede007 Apr 9, 2026 +1
So tired of seeing this. Notice his face getting purple? Blood isn’t flowing, let alone oxygen. He died of lack of blood to the brain.
1
awesomesauce88 4 days ago +1
The comic explains it better. In space, they are in an extended inhale. But when Conquest went down to the planet after Oliver, he started exhaling to take another breath. Mark started choking him right at the point where he'd exhaled, but before he'd had a chance to inhale. So Conquest never got a chance to actually hold his breath again, which is why he had only minutes instead of hours.
1
Tooster Apr 7, 2026 +4
This episode hit me like a gut punch!
4
hedgehogwithagun Apr 7, 2026 +11
I was absolutely disgusted when the guy pulling started but it went on for so long and such a volume of guts was pulled out that it started feeling like a clown car scene more then anything. Maybe I’m completely ignorant in how much guts (that didn’t feel grammatically correct to type) we have in the body.
11
Astewisk Apr 7, 2026 +32
Your average person has about 20-30 feet of guts, so the show is actually accurate in that regard. It's just coiled like a rope so it can all fit in your torso.
32
gerardolsd Apr 7, 2026 +3
Amazing adaptation of the brutal fight in the comic, can’t wait for yall to lose your shit on what’s coming next lol

So when I was 19 I had to have exploratory surgery where they cut me open from right above my navel down to my pelvic bone. This scene made that scar throb in a way it hasn’t in years.

I watch, read, and write horror. The dark stuff. The gritty stuff. The stuff you don't show grandma. This scene made my stomach hurt and my fists clench.
1
THEpottedplant Apr 9, 2026 +1
Just gonna say, what the actual f*** was mark thinking trying to choke out a dude that can hold his breath long enough to travel/fight in space Like, it worked, but should it have? Either way, if hes strong enough to choke the m*********** to death, why not just tear his throat out?
1
awesomesauce88 4 days ago +1
The comic explains it better. In space, they are in an extended inhale. But when Conquest went down to the planet after Oliver, he started exhaling to take another breath. Mark started choking him right at the point where he'd exhaled, but before he'd had a chance to inhale. So Conquest never got a chance to actually hold his breath again -- he had literally no oxygen intake at that moment, and Mark was blocking him from getting any -- which is why he had only minutes instead of hours.

Am i the only one who is quite disappointed ? The gore aside, this fight was quite underwhelming
1
Critical_Complex_363 Apr 10, 2026 +1
This is actually the smartest method Mark ever used when fighting especially against an experienced Viltrumite, he knows that he's not gonna win with skills and hand to hand combat so he choked Conquest with pure grit, wits and determination Finally live up to the name INVINCIBLE
1
FriedCammalleri23 Apr 7, 2026 +2
Half the reason I won’t watch this show is because of how ridiculously gory it is. I’m not typically squeamish but the shit I hear about in this show is just way too much for me. I’m good with my mildly bloody Marvel/DC heroes.

Idk if there's something broken in my brain but I don't think I could ever be truly repulsed by something animated. Obviously if this scene were live action I'd be getting squeamish as hell, but no animated scene has ever made me uncomfortable like that.
1
bmcisme2016 Apr 9, 2026 +1
I get that the rematch is obviously coming but seriously? As someone who’s watching every week but couldn’t catch it this week on Time, I find this so irritating. You use a spoiler tag but spoil it in the title? Honestly screw you dude cmon
1
nzguy79 Apr 7, 2026 -16
I will probably get downvoted for this and yes, it probably is same as the source material etc. But put your fan brains out of it and tell me whether this fight made any sense? Mark is supposed to be stronger than last time, has gained more experience, has matured etc. & yet he fights like an angry teenager. No tactics, no strategy nothing! Sometimes he is so strong that he blew Volcanica's head clean off, casually, multiple times and here he can't think of doing anything else to do than to choke this guy? I am sorry but this is one of the dumbest fight scenes I've seen, this whole season has been very underwhelming!!
-16
NatHammond1 Apr 7, 2026 +14
There is no real comparison with Volcanica and Conquest, power scale wise they are miles apart. Mark choking Conquest out IS the strategy, as strong as he is getting Conquest is generally considered the 2nd/3rd most powerful viltrumite. Mark simply doesn’t have the strength or experience to defeat him in an all-out brawl, while admittedly in the comics a point is made about how Conquest is caught “off breath” the reality in either form is that Conquest plays with his food for too long and underestimates Marks resilience and determination to not let go. He only stops grinning when he realises Mark is not relenting despite continuing to pull his guts out.
14
chipperpip Apr 7, 2026 +6
Are you under the impression that Volcanica was as sturdy as Conquest?? Mark knocking the wind out of Conquest and then maintaining his grip on his neck was pretty much his best chance.  If he had let go at any point, Conquest probably would have killed him.
6
Xplt21 Apr 7, 2026 -16
Conquest not breaking or snapping Mark's arms was stupid ass hell.
-16
residentsocface Apr 7, 2026 +17
He tried at the beginning by holding and pulling Mark's arms but it wasn't working, or at the very least mark's arms weren't giving ground. That's why he begins punching him in the abdomen and weakening his stomach so that the hand pierce works. Edit: also, Conquest doesn't really fight for his own life like Mark does. We see it in episode 2 where Thragg tells him that he won't kill him because it'd be a "reward". He fights as a spectator primarily for that reason, battle motivates him little beyond the enjoyment he gets from it.
17
indr4neel Apr 8, 2026 -2
This felt like a magician pulling out one of those multicolored scarfs. Really immersion breaking for me. It was like, multiple cubic feet of entrails. Enough to cheapen the injury.
