This is extremely unprecedented and its completely absurd to watch what is taking place and that nobody in the US seems to react. Yes you have some pointless "no kings" protests, but its completely appalling. Cant imagine a single other western nation having a president/prime minister acting even 1% of how Trump is behaving. I think for some of them it’s not just the number in itself, it really is still about what the number allows them to get. Only what they are trying to get is no longer winnings in the primary game most of us are playing (for shelter, food, education, healthcare, etc for ourselves and our loved ones) but rather a meta-game about who gets to make the rules for the primary game.

It isn't predictable it only appears so in the short run. You can't know day to day what's going to actually happen. the person said "lucky guesses" because there are people committing insider trading who are part of the Trump administration (including his own family likely). So they know a few hours ahead what's going to happen and make the trades. It's completely illegal, but there is no way to currently stop it with this administration. And the other big thing is that making 2x the amount of money you put in isn't a big deal when it's $50, but it's huge when it's $100 million.

It remains open due to the ceasefire currently being negotiated between Israel and Lebanon. So this is not down to Donald, and incidentally, it is exactly what Iran said during the negotiations: that the strait will be opened once there is a ceasefire IN ALL countries.

Let’s hope that the US doesn’t do something stupid to make the Iranians change their minds, like for example continuing to blockade Iranian ports despite the Strait being open, or killing Iranian diplomats and political leaders in a surprise attack (again). EDIT: And of course Trump just announced that he would keep the blockade going, even though that now endangers the ceasefire. What the hell is wrong with that guy ?

The markets are delusional.... The damage is already done, Asian countries have already moved to hoarding and rationing. The tankers have already rerouted away from the middle east. Even if this was true and the strait opened and we all hugged it out... The supply shock already happened, you're seeing the demand shock starting. There is no TACO trade because there is nothing Trump can do... Not even a criticism, the cards are already dealt it is what it is.

Brilliant move from Iran -- they tie free movement to US/Israel behavior and make it clear that it's the US/Israel's fault if things don't work out. For Trump this is an opportunity for some juicy insider trading, and for American citizens the actual prices at the pump won't go down anytime soon because "maybe this won't stick" but then if things do get more or less resolved to some sort of pre-war status quo, mysteriously the gas prices will only dip just a little bit and we'll all accept that. Oil companies will be richer, Tehran will be getting their toll-booth on the Strait of Hormuz, Trump will claim victory, and regular people everywhere will foot the bill for his mind-bogglingly stupid circus/grift.
