Iran defies Trump ceasefire deadline as tensions escalate over Strait of Hormuz

It's not necessarily that the rest of the West sees Iran has acceptable (no person really should). It's that military conquest will not modernize the government and decay the theocracy that strangles and oppresses the people of Iran, and they know this. It's why things like the Iran Nuclear Deal were massive successes that helped push Iran closer to modernization while normalizing tensions and deescalating the region as a whole, and why the tearing up of said deal has caused the situation to worsen dramatically.

I don't think there are many in The West who appreciate the fact so many, especially women, are oppressed by a brutal, repressive regime.  But also, I think they appreciate even less a conflict that will A. Not resolve said repression and B. Upturn the world's economy.  The war aims of the US are nebulous and ever shifting, and to win would require a level of investment there is no stomach for in The West. That the conflict began at all is a staggering failure of the United States, its biggest blunder in over a decade. There will be repercussions for this, though how serious they are remains to be seen.  I feel that many in The West *are* tired of being led by the nose by such a cruel, rapacious nation, but that's just my own feeling.  Also, there's the fact the Israelis want a failed state. All the better for them if Iran knocks down a few pegs the other Muslim countries that, to greater and lesser degrees, have populations that despise Israel.  The accounts I've seen that are cheerleading Iran have their histories hidden, don't allow bots to warp your view of The West.
