The US never reopened it, just Iran. Trump is squeezing all he can out of the markets.

Seems to me that there was an agreement to open, and then Trump changed the rules and said that Iranian ships would still be blocked and did a victory dance.

US getting a real-time lesson in what happens when you think career diplomats are wastes of space and you leave high-level negotiations to the president’s incompetent son-in-law and a smarmy real estate bro, both of whom are foreign agents and almost certainly soliciting bribes.

Where are the cries of warcrimes?

Where is the warcrime? A country enforcing a blockade that helps ensure an enemy country can't extract military supplies (oil) is perfectly within wartime code of conduct.

Which is against international law, and attacking civilian ships is still a crime, and this particular attack was meant to cause fear in order to influence a political outcome, which is terrorism.
Ergo, the IRGC is a terrorist organization that commits crimes against humanity daily.

Weve literally got a president threatening to "end a civilization" and droping bombs on schools, killing children. Shots fired on a merchant vessel without injury seems mild in comparison.

Sometimes I feel Listnook has absolved Iran of every blame, literally every Listnook post that Iran does something, it is blamed on the US, Iran could literally fire a missile to France and Listnook will blame the US

Yeah I read it with amazement, like do you guys know that the Iranian government stands against everything you believe in and the only thing they share in common to Listnook is basically “Death to the US”

And the reason that regime is in charge is because of the US and the UK. At this point I want Trump to either just go all in and actually try and do a full regime change even though that’s what caused this in the first place or leave. This back and forth half measures max stupid shit pisses me off because it’s not solving anything besides the issues that started with the current conflict. Yes there was many cases of Iran interfering or attacking before but none of that is really resolved if it ends right now.

We all know Iran sucks. It’s pretty clear.
But the US is supposed to be better. We still haven’t learned our lesson.
None of this shit would be happening if Trump didn’t start this war. This is absolutely on the US. That’s it. That’s why people are upset at the US right now.

emmer1 day ago

Yeah it definitely would be. In fact, it already was happening. Iran supplied the Houthis with anti ship missiles which they fired at civilian ships in 2023, well before the U.S. attacked. The region has been a shit show for years, mainly due to Iran using its proxies to terrorize the region.

Actually we also knew that the US was pretty shit in ways too but with Trump and Co the mask came off and that was quite a shock to many.
US and Iran are not equal but they're twisting your arm, neither looks very different. But you find the US doing it shocking because they painted themselves sane

It was all over listnook a few days ago that the US blockade of Iranian ports was going to trigger WWIII if they stopped a Chinese ship. That just completely ignored that Iran in March hit a Chinese owned ship 'Source Blessings' with a missile or Drone in mid-March. Many other ships have been hit with the claim of Chinese crews/ownership, but those are harder to verify.
Iran just attacked two Indian ships who were guaranteed safe passage, but no one is mentioning WWIII.

It's disingenuous to say that everyone on Listnook collectively thinks Iran is absolved.
Most of the sentiment I see here is that we wouldn't even be in this situation if the US didn't attack them. So in a way, this is the US's fault. People in the past administrations knew better than to do this, precisely because Iran has the capability to close off this economic trade route.
So we're dragged into this economic mess because some maniac on the White House decided to do so. I'm not saying Iran are the good guys, mind you. I'm recognizing that this all started because they bombed Iran first (and also slightly due to the withdrawal from the nuclear deal by the US back in 2018)

Technically it is US fault.
Also, it's not just listnook, it's the whole world who blames US, and deservedly so.

It's almost like there have been many inflection points over the years and recently with the US dealing with Iran that could've completely prevented any of the current situation from happening yet at every turn the moron in the white house actively made decisions to get us to this exact point with no understanding of why any of his decisions were moronic.
-1

At this point, it could be argued that would be, partially, the US fault. When Trump broke the deal Obama made with Iran, the more extremist and right wing Iranians won elections and took power. When Trump killed the Iranian leaders, the more extremists took power. Killing innocent people, like the school radicalizes the people further.
I'm not saying Iran is good, or siding with them. The weak leadership and poor negotiating of the US has caused a worse situation.

It's a case where the war has only bad guys involved unfortunately.
Both sides are to blame for striking civilians.

The famous quote from Pentagon Pete, back in March, still resonates:
“The only thing prohibiting transit in the straits right now is Iran shooting at shipping. It is open for transit should Iran not do that,” the former Fox News weekend host told reporters at a Pentagon briefing.
Always open whenever the shooting stops. To be clear it’s not the guns that are the issue rather it’s the ammunition exuding from them.

The Islamic republic massacred over 30000 people including children in January. The Islamic Republic has bee murdering, torturing and raping thousands of people in its prisons, including children. The Islamic Republic legalized pedophelia. The Islamic Republic uses schools as military bases, which is a war crime. The Islamic Republic trains boys to be soldiers and marries off girls to old pedos. It's obvious you don't care about any children. You are ignoring all the horrific child abuse perpetrated by the Islamic Republic.

And Iran has ramped up murder of dissidents since the war started, and the US is not doing anything about that. What exactly is the point if the goal is to kill the leader and put a more radical one in place to create worse conditions?
