Unfortunately we have a political system without any mechanism for early elections, no-confidence votes, or recalls of almost any sort. It is also designed to limit the power of population centers. So all of these marches that the Euros advocate for are really just preaching to the choir. All our hopes are on the mid-terms in November … and that’s not a great place to be

So far, especially elections in state elections, the Democrats have been trouncing Republicans, even in red states they have long been GOP strongholds. So there is some hope.
People in the Trump administration are worrying out loud that they will be indicted if the Democrats win the House and the Senate in the midterms this year. At least half the country is rubbing their hands together in anticipation, and there are an awful lot of former Trump supporters that feel betrayed .

Yes, and I can't wait to see what the midterms will bring! Hope, I hope. There are also clear signs though that this administration will do anything they can to save their asses, including voter suppression and downright fraud. ...say, I went to jail for protesting Trump. Apparently the 1st Amendment does not bar local governments from making it illegal to post political fliers on public property, and the police are well aware of the Constitution and yet will enforce these laws anyway.
I've suggested again and again that all we really need to do is get a few constitutional amendments going around, and that would cool Trump's jets permanently, but apparently all these people who feel so outraged about his antics aren't quite outraged enough to get involved in something so potentially EFFECTIVE. God forbid we should tie the hands of our military, and prevent them from committing mass murder!

Because of the reality of the American situation: they have made it next to impossible to remove a President from office. Other countries have designed their political systems to make it easy; America has done the opposite. Every day, more things happen that highlight the flaws in their current system: Trump can and does do whatever he wants. No one with any power cares to do anything. There is no line he hasn’t crossed at this point, no one cares.
It is unlikely this system will change, because both sides are afraid to yield power. It’s a political Cold War.

Land mass for one.
I've often seen comparisons of how French people would be in the streets shouting and rioting for far less than what is currently being tolerated. And my biggest counterpoint to that is that it's not really a fair comparison given the shear land mass. France is about the size of Texas, +/- 10%. For someone in anytown, USA to even get to a place where the scene they make would impact people that could even possibly make a difference is more akin to crossing all of Europe, from say Portugal to Belarus, WITHOUT Europe's well developed rail system.
There are absolutely local protests every day throughout the US that do not make international, or even national news. But they don't have an impact. I live in CT, and going to the state capital (Hartford) to protest the administration is about as effective as me writing this comment, in terms of impact.
Second would be cost, the average American doesn't have the resources to make a trip like that to DC to protest. Between the money, time, transportation, lodging, and time that would have to be taken off of work, its a near insurmountable task for many.

Yeah, but in most other countries that are better than us, workers have protections. They don’t get fired for not showing up. They don’t lose their insurance for losing their job. They don’t end up without food because we keep stripping welfare benefits.
Foreigners forget how well protected their citizenry is versus America. You guys have worker rights that actually protect workers. You have a public healthcare option that guarantees healthcare without it being tied to employment. You have generous time off guarantees that most Americans don’t get.

Other than whining what is your point? Are you suggesting the Germans weren’t judged? They looked at their own history and were honest about it and still are. If they hadn’t, the world would have reminded them. But it was the Americans that rubbed their noses in their crimes. You are being judged as a collective and that will continue. Stop making excuses for the inexcusable.

Iran is winning the propaganda war because Trump didn't bother to make a case for why regime change could help Iran. Instead he came forward and admitted he is just a simple thief who wants to steal other countries' resources. (see: Venezuela, Kharg Island invasion plan).
With such overwhelming poor optics for the US, Iranian propaganda has a very easy job - Trump already personally published all the anti-US propaganda Iran could ever need.

An AI-generated LEGO movie out of Iran depicting Trump as a war hungry pedophile has gone [viral online](https://www.instagram.com/p/DWR17rhAhzl/?ref=404media.co). The video is the work of Iran-based propagandists called the “Explosive News Team” and is just the latest in a long line of AI-generated LEGO videos aimed at mocking Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. LEGO-themed propaganda isn’t new and the Iranian video plays on familiar wartime propaganda themes. What’s different in 2026 is speed and scale.
During World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, America’s enemies littered the battlefield with pamphlets, cartoons, and radio broadcasts aimed at shaking the morale of American troops, but that stuff rarely got back home. Now, Iran can use AI tools to produce lavishly animated cartoons at scale for dissemination across social media all aimed at the US homefront.
The latest “Explosive News Team” video is set to a catchy rap song about how Trump is a LOSER and millions of people are watching it across multiple platforms. At the same time Iran is releasing AI-generated videos of Trump drowning in a river of blood, the US Department of Homeland Security is sharing [fashwave filtered](https://www.vice.com/en/article/trumpwave-fashwave-far-right-appropriation-vaporwave-synthwave/?ref=404media.co) pictures of [Gen Z ICE agents](https://x.com/DHSgov/status/2036971552244162959?ref=404media.co) milling around airports.
Iran’s use of LEGO set rap music tells me it’s been studying us. These are videos meant for the American people crafted in a language Iran knows we’ll understand.
Meanwhile, the White House is dropping *Grand Theft Auto* and *Call of Duty* memes that were out of fashion 10 years ago on Listnook and vague-posting pixelated images of Trump like it’s running an ARG. Iran is attempting to speak to the broader American public. Trump is confident he only has to impress the online freaks he thinks still love him.
To be clear, it speaks to how bad things are online that we need to analyze whose AI disinformation and propaganda is “better,” and, in general, the slopification of the internet has been a disaster. And yet, the stuff Iran is making is resonating and spreading online in a way that Trump’s slop is not. We do not know who, specifically, is making the Iranian AI slop or which tools they are using to make it. But the fact that Iranian AI slop is resonating with Americans while American slop is not should perhaps not be surprising; for the last several years, the most successful purveyors of AI slop [have largely been based in foreign countries](https://www.404media.co/where-facebooks-ai-slop-comes-from/), where they have been incentivized to make content that specifically targets American audiences because of the [way that social media ad rates work](https://www.404media.co/where-facebooks-ai-slop-comes-from/).
