Isn’t it more like “We will blockade it!” 10 different threats to open.. .. “Since you’re not responding to our threats we will blockade it too!” “Ok we open” “We still blockade it!” “Ok we blockade again too”

The blockade is for Iranian ports which hasn't changed.

Donald Trump: “We’re talking to them. **They wanted to close up the strait again – you know, as they’ve been doing for years** – and they can’t blackmail us.” No they haven't been doing it for years, they only closed it once when you ordered an attack on them..

Oh, it’s only one clown and his circus. Iran continues to play the world’s largest economy and military like a fiddle.

How f****** incompetent must you be to drop the ball this hard? One day you tweet out that the straight is open because you agreed to pay $20b in reparations and promised to pretty please ask Netanyahu to stop killing Lebanese. And the next day it turns out the Iranians are still mad because you block all their ports. Straight is closed again. Like, was this ever a surprise to anyone? They made some sort of agreement to open the straight, but completely forgot to discuss the complete naval blockade? Was there some sort of misunderstanding where "open" and "close" are both "aladeen" in Persian? I don't even care which side is utterly incompetent (though I have a suspicion)... Just get some serious people to work this out.

Do you think that the US side has professional translators? or did they fire them in DOGE? It's obvious the Iranians have a good bilingual team, based on the Lego videos.

He’s been stiffing his contractors all his life. His idea of a deal is that he gets 100% and the other party gets nothing. Is it any surprise that he expects the strait to be open and oil starts flowing again, and the Iranians get nothing in return?

Nah Drump is just lying the whole way. Nothing will get resolved

> They made some sort of agreement to open the straight, but completely forgot to discuss the complete naval blockade? Of course not. It is far more likely that the US broke the agreement and continued to block Iranian ships.
2
Amonfire1776 20 hr ago +2
Why do they use this term control if their own ships can't pass through? Closure is more accurate...

Deploying a blockade to counter an existing blockade is literally just the geopolitical equivalent of saying 'No, u'. The maritime insurance brokers must be having a collective meltdown right now.
3
psyon 19 hr ago +3
No it's not.  Iran was allowing ships in and out from their ports.  The US is blocking only the ships going to and from Iranian ports.

I don't even know what the F*** is going on there anymore, seriously! There's news that Iran lifted the blockade then immediately see how it again got closed.

Schrodinger's Strait of Hormuz it is open and closed at the same time at least according to Trump I predict some market manipulation is going on here

Stockengineer 18 hr ago +3
They never released the blockade, it’s mined. So open meant following their instructions in and out. People being confused with “open” lol

The main reason why Iran kept the blockade during the ceasefire is because Lebanon was still under fire by Israel. Trump publicly 'dressed' down Israel to stop attacking Lebanon. Israel finally agreed and hence Iran removed the blockade on their part. But for America to continue their blockade after all this suggests to me that America wants to still choke Iran's ability to be resupplied from China and the rest of the world. Even at the cost Iranian gas not coming into the market. They let Russian gas remain unsanctioned to cover the shortfall by however little they can. That and the increased buildup of soldiers near Iran leads me to I think Trump isn't interested in a permanent ceasefire just yet. I think they are giving themselves time to invade Iran proper.

Iran continues to commit war crimes and violate international law. Every country should expel the Iranian ambassador and cut off all trade with that criminal regime.

Iran has been pulling this c*** with the strait for a long time.  UN countries should have dealt with it a long time ago

Iran have never closed the strait until this year.

this_dudeagain 13 hr ago +1
Iran has attempted to close the straight before and hijacked ships long before Trump.
1
psyon 15 hr ago
No, they never "closed" it, they were just firing on ships in it during the Iran-Iraq war, have threatened to close it many times aside from that, and allowed/funded the groups that attacked ships using the strait to disrupt trade.
