If it was full capitulation to American demands that would have been the headline. A response is almost certainly them reiterating the same points they've been making, including no nuclear transfer and control of the strait

Maximalist demands on both sides. Soon it will be June.
This is not going well.
Negotiated peace is better than unconditional surrender. But huge egos would be hurt in the process.

According to the article, the ceasefire has been for over a month now.
I don’t think “ceasefire” has any value anymore.
The word “ceasefire” has been enshittified.

They attack when the US does something, like 'Operation Freedom', to break the status quo. Hell from their perspective the US blockade is itself a violation. And they'd be right, since a blockade is an act of war. Nevertheless they let that slide, but it'd be silly to let even more slide.

Excerpt
DUBAI/WASHINGTON, May 10 (Reuters) - Iran has sent its response to a U.S. proposal to begin peace talks to end the war, Iranian state media reported on Sunday, as two carriers were allowed to pass through the blockaded Strait of Hormuz.
The response, sent to mediator Pakistan, focused on ending the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon, and on the safety of shipping through the strait, Iranian state TV said, without indicating how or when the vital waterway might reopen.

Makes you wonder why Iran would insist an end to the fight against Hezbollah? It's almost like they are an Iranian proxy who has been attacking Israel since the weeks after October 7th, and are actively breaking the ceasefire they signed to by not disengaging behind the Litani river.
But sure, it's Israel who is solely responsible and locking America in.

Sure. But it's funny all the talk about how Israel radicalizes other populations by their actions. Ya know, the excuse used to say "why Gazans trust Hamas, etc, etc."
Well it cuts both ways. The constant rocket attacks and braindead Iranian soundbites getting regurgitated in the west produce the same effect in Israel. You need both sides to change to see peace.

Wait they sent the actual aircraft carriers through the straight? I thought (assumed) it was just destroyers (that may have been part of the carrier strike group). Sending the carriers through sounds like a great way to lose a few billions dollars very quickly lol
Edit: it was two destroyers, not carriers, that went through. Assuming you're referencing this from a couple days ago: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/2-us-navy-destroyers-transit-strait-of-hormuz-after-dodging-iranian-onslaught/

I've been hearing "in two weeks" from everyone. It's like they're learning from Trump.
Not saying that shit won't break, but shit will hit the fan when it hits the fan. I don't own a car, so I guess I'll settle for everything getting more expensive; which it does anyways.

June is when global reserves start hitting state mandated and/or operational minimums at the current draw rate (they are lawfully required to keep X in reserve, or they can't pump anymore out of the reserve without damaging it).
When the planet is introduced to a scenario that has never happened before, you should expect experts to be wrong in the beginning and projections to get more refined and accurate over time as we get real data vs whatever models were made beforehand.

Its not that simple. We import heavy crude from outside the US to refine and export the light crude we get from fracking, since our refineries are mostly still set up for heavy crude. So we will need to engage with the global energy market regardless.
The west coast in particular is highly exposed because that side of the US is almost as dependent on middle eastern crude as Asian countries.

Do Republican voters/MAGA even know that Obama had already signed the "Iran Nuclear deal" in which they agreed to halt their nuclear program? Things were going great until trump pulled America out of the deal, probably so he could start another war to "solve"
