If it was full capitulation to American demands that would have been the headline. A response is almost certainly them reiterating the same points they've been making, including no nuclear transfer and control of the strait

Doesn’t mean it won’t be spun for a nice market open on Monday.

claimstoknowpeople 3 days ago +37
Oh it absolutely will be. In just about any other context though people would understand the response wasn't positive. "My crush *responded* to my request for a date."

“Iran and United States MINUTES away from deal” \-Axios probably.

Iranians betting all that crypto they've been charging for passage on Polymarket right now

Maximalist demands on both sides. Soon it will be June.  This is not going well. Negotiated peace is better than unconditional surrender. But huge egos would be hurt in the process.

This will be a continued eternal loop for the next few months.

US Proposal: Give us what we want Iran's response: No! Here's our counter-proposal, give us what we want And thus, another week until the next round of dance

According to the article, the ceasefire has been for over a month now. I don’t think “ceasefire” has any value anymore.  The word “ceasefire” has been enshittified.

In korea there is also a ceasefire
32
Several-Opposite-746 3 days ago +15
In the Koreas, the did cease firing.
15
CarRamRob 3 days ago +6
Yeah but they aren’t blowing up ships and sending missles against each other every other day
6
Responsible-Crew-354 3 days ago +3
How do the daily rates of fire in these two “ceasefires” compare?
3
Wheres_my_wank_sock 3 days ago +9
More like cessation of all out hostilities. Now it's more of a d*** measuring tit for tat.

ADP_God 3 days ago +5
I mean they're still attacking the gulf states. Kinda hostile...
5
EnderDragoon 3 days ago +5
If any firing is happening, then it is not a ceasefire. It is now just another word to manipulate markets.
5
BendicantMias 2 days ago +3
They attack when the US does something, like 'Operation Freedom', to break the status quo. Hell from their perspective the US blockade is itself a violation. And they'd be right, since a blockade is an act of war. Nevertheless they let that slide, but it'd be silly to let even more slide.

You keep saying this word. I do not think it means what you think it does.

[Here's a leaked copy of the Iranian response](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOYBWwmcXeg). I suspect this ceasefire will be as meaningful as the last 20.

trump believed he could force a one-way cease fire (By killing them all) but underestimated their ability to fire back.

Excerpt DUBAI/WASHINGTON, May 10 (Reuters) - Iran has sent its response to a U.S. proposal to begin peace talks to end the war, Iranian state media reported on Sunday, as two carriers were allowed to pass through the blockaded Strait of Hormuz. The response, sent to mediator Pakistan, focused on ‌ending the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon, and on the safety of shipping through the strait, Iranian state TV said, without indicating how or when the vital waterway might reopen.

"Especially Lebanon" aaaaand Israel has their way to keep the US locked into the war.
38
jews4beer 3 days ago -49
Makes you wonder why Iran would insist an end to the fight against Hezbollah? It's almost like they are an Iranian proxy who has been attacking Israel since the weeks after October 7th, and are actively breaking the ceasefire they signed to by not disengaging behind the Litani river. But sure, it's Israel who is solely responsible and locking America in.
-49
exotrader5000 3 days ago +37
Yeah whatever, it's not our problem. We don't want to fight your war anymore. You act like we give a f*** for some reason but those victim days are over.
37
jews4beer 3 days ago -38
Ok fine, you can think that. But that's a very different thing from saying "It's all Israel's fault". Say you don't give a shit about us, fine. Talk bullshit, and that's when you just piss people off more.

IAmSpartacustard 3 days ago +33
No one gives a f*** if youre mad, just so you know
33
jews4beer 3 days ago -32
Sure. But it's funny all the talk about how Israel radicalizes other populations by their actions. Ya know, the excuse used to say "why Gazans trust Hamas, etc, etc." Well it cuts both ways. The constant rocket attacks and braindead Iranian soundbites getting regurgitated in the west produce the same effect in Israel. You need both sides to change to see peace.
-32
Loleczekkk 3 days ago +19
Well especially the stronger side here which is Israel.. maybe at least stop all the disgusting settler stuff in the west bank that would be nice
19
messenger18 3 days ago -9
Israel will stop doing that when Iran stops funding Proxies in most Middle east countries or when Trump starts telling the truth.
-9
Feisty_System_4751 2 days ago +7
No they won't. Those 'Greater Israel' patches used by your soldiers are not fashion statements.
7
distinctidiot 2 days ago +1
Israel will find another excuse, really wish the West just sanctioned both sides and let the religious nut cases in that region fight it out, it really does not feels like America's job to police that region anymore.

If it was about hezbollah why shell villages that were strongly anti hezbollah? I say were, because lord knows how being displaced from your home will radicalized people.

Every Hezbollah fighter today was once a Palestinian child being terrorized by Israel.

Wait they sent the actual aircraft carriers through the straight? I thought (assumed) it was just destroyers (that may have been part of the carrier strike group). Sending the carriers through sounds like a great way to lose a few billions dollars very quickly lol Edit: it was two destroyers, not carriers, that went through. Assuming you're referencing this from a couple days ago: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/2-us-navy-destroyers-transit-strait-of-hormuz-after-dodging-iranian-onslaught/

Feels like both sides are trying to avoid looking weak while also trying to avoid a wider disaster. That's usually how conflicts drag on way longer than anyone expected.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Iran demanded that Trump release the Epstein files?

Since there was no “GOT EEM” from the US side, it seems to have been another set of clear instructions on how to insert a grenade up the rectum. 🤔

Just in case everyone is wondering **June** is the deadline before things change dramatically for everyone

Every month the date keeps on getting pushed back. Are you as sick of these analysts as I am?

I've been hearing "in two weeks" from everyone. It's like they're learning from Trump. Not saying that shit won't break, but shit will hit the fan when it hits the fan. I don't own a car, so I guess I'll settle for everything getting more expensive; which it does anyways.

June is when global reserves start hitting state mandated and/or operational minimums at the current draw rate (they are lawfully required to keep X in reserve, or they can't pump anymore out of the reserve without damaging it). When the planet is introduced to a scenario that has never happened before, you should expect experts to be wrong in the beginning and projections to get more refined and accurate over time as we get real data vs whatever models were made beforehand.

The only thing I expect with oil is for everyone to be wrong as it’s one of the most manipulated markets out there.
2
Bleatmop 2 days ago +1
That just speaks to me as to when the free market shuts down. Oil producing nations will be fine, everyone else will suffer. The USA is an oil producing nation.
1
Bluemanze 2 days ago +1
Its not that simple. We import heavy crude from outside the US to refine and export the light crude we get from fracking, since our refineries are mostly still set up for heavy crude. So we will need to engage with the global energy market regardless. The west coast in particular is highly exposed because that side of the US is almost as dependent on middle eastern crude as Asian countries.

If Iran holds out for control of the strait, the us might as well drag it out longer. I think anything else is worth compromising on

Meaning they sent a reply. Not that they agreed to anything, nor that they are seeking peace or otherwise. Response might have as well been “up yours”.

Do Republican voters/MAGA even know that Obama had already signed the "Iran Nuclear deal" in which they agreed to halt their nuclear program? Things were going great until trump pulled America out of the deal, probably so he could start another war to "solve"
