Acc to Iran they think that US is just buying time behind the facade of "talks" and *negotiation" through its proxy , and waiting to strike them . The Iranians didn't trust them at all , the way the Iranian delegation went back to Iran by the secretly changing their plane ,they got into a different plane and at the last moment the plane was diverted from Tehran and landed in Mashhad and from there every member reached Tehran using different modes of transport, train, cars, busses .

Understandable.

The CIA has a nasty habit of downing aircraft under suspicion circumstances. It was wise of them to redirect themselves.

Funny that the average listnookor is more aligned with the IRGC than they are with the Islamic Republic’s political establishment.

This is not a "war". This is Trump's Special Military Operation. Nobody's heard of this term before...

Keep blockading their ships and wait them out then. If the ceasefire period ends with no results, go back to bombing them.

As I understand it, Iran opened the strait but then the US insisted on maintaining the naval blockade, so Iran shut it down again a day later. Why not just drop the blockade 🤷🏼‍♂️ Again, the straight was open until the US decided to bomb Iran in the middle of a negotiation.

It’s hard to get reliable information on what’s going on tbh. There’s lots of conflicting information, from both sides. ETA - and yes the strait was open before Israel and the US attacked Iran… but acknowledging that doesn’t change the present situation. I didn’t agree with them starting this war, but none of us can do anything about that now. So continuing to point out the strait was open prior to all of this is a bit pointless.

I mean we could just f****** leave

jay6432 5 days ago +7
No, at this point the US can’t just leave. They decided to start this with Israel; so they need to finish it, and on favorable / acceptable terms.

Its funny you say they “started it” with israel like iran hasnt been stiking and funding proxy wars for literal decades
9
jay6432 5 days ago +1
Well yea, Iran has been stirring up shit for a long time; I don’t dispute that. In terms of these current hostilities though, it is fair and objectively true that the US & Israel started it. Acknowledging that fact doesn’t mean that Iran was an innocent victim in all of this or anything like that.

Yeah, iran didnt start it by funding its proxy militias. Sure jay. Does everyone just go “well it isnt irans actual militart so it doesnt count” like are we all just going to pretend based on technicalities now?

What does 'finish it' even mean at this point? For as long as Iran holds leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, they're going to demand concessions. Concessions that will wreck Trump's ability to say he achieved anything with this war. So Trump either gives in and essentially concedes to Iran's demands, or he has to....what? Keep bombing Iran until what? Trump has put himself in a position with no good options. Israel is of course another factor and has no obligation to agree to any US-Iran negotiated deal, especially if it includes some clause that they cannot go after Iran-backed terrorist groups on their borders(which Iran is certain to keep supporting).

Iran HAD leverage over the strait when only ships with Iranian oil were transiting it, now the US blockade has hurt Irans bottom line. Oil and gas is +/- 50% of Irans overall revenue, approximately $435 million a day in revenue. Soon they will have to shut down oil fields as storage tanks reach capacity. None of that sounds like leverage.

I think you answered your own question, IRGC needs to be degraded until they are unable or unwilling to close the Strait at will.
5
jay6432 5 days ago +4
Basically this. Keep bombing Iran and blockading their ships until the Islamic regime collapses or they’re forced to accept terms - whichever happens first.

Wasn’t part of the deal to drop the blockade 🤷‍♂️ Iran should have thought of that. Nobody forced them to accept that offer 🤦 The blockade was limited to Iranian coasts. It specifically stated the strait was open to all traffic and only Iranian linked vessels were being stopped. Iran closed the strait for everybody. They bragged about it for weeks too. Why are they mad that the US is enforcing their strait closure for them anyways? Khamenei directly ordered the strait to be closed. He didn’t say it would stay open for his own ships.

The agreement included free movement through the straight for the duration of the ceasefire. Well, that goes both ways, doesn't? Not that it matters, Iran would have found some other reason to limit traffic enough so that it hampered oil prices. In the end, control over oil is Iran't greatest weapon.

No, the FM announced the strait was open, the IRGC pushed back immediately and then the IRGC shot at some ships to turn them around.

No, it was Israel bombing Lebanon that screwed up the ceasefire .

Well the ceasefire technically ends after tomorrow, so that's the timeline many will be looking at.
