I wouldn't want to be the first few ships through the strait. I'd let some other b****** get blown up by a forgotten underwater mine.

No, that part isn’t even open. The announcement today isn’t really any different than it was, except maybe they’d let through tankers from other countries in the gulf, still have to pass through iranian water, still inspected, still pay the toll, still limited number allowed to pass

This is the reality Trump has given us. Why am I trusting the word of the Iranian government more than the word of Trump? Isn't that a fucked up reality?

Statement from IRGC: "Ships must be commercial. The passage of military vessels is prohibited, and neither the ships nor their cargo may be linked to hostile countries. Vessels must pass through routes designated by Iran, and transit must be coordinated with Iranian forces responsible for managing passage."
In other words exactly the same as when it was closed. Iran pretending the strait is open to manipulate the market in coordination with Trump.

I think that's it! They will announce on monday at opening that is close again once they drop the positions. Other are left with the plummeting market. Rinse and repeat.

Strait is opened, but mind the mines.

It is open but who the hell is going to insure a ship sailing through there.

Shipping companies are very skittish and with very good reason.
Also, the "Straight is open! Straight is Blockaded! Straight May be Open!" back and forth between Iran and the USA is 100% not giving them any confidence to attempt a crossing.

Not sure I’d trust the tracking if it’s AIS they’re talking about. I’d guess many ships turn that off to avoid attention.

Iran still is claiming control of the flow of the strait, and USA is still blockading ships to/from Iranian ports (except maybe China). No one except the desperate are going to risk it until there is a firm deal that removes the possibility of things blowing up again.
