Iranians inside Iran and the diaspora want the regime toppled. We’re willing to accept the losses for the hope of a better tomorrow. That’s how desperate the situation is.

What losses will diaspora suffer, unless you plan to go to Iran
7
BumWarrior69 3 days ago +1
Our friends are family are there… just because we aren’t physically there doesn’t mean that we don’t have attachment or have precious people and things to lose. Many of us want to be able to reconnect with our loved ones but aren’t able to do so.
1
PlushHammerPony 3 days ago +1
So you are **NOT there.** But you're willing to accept loses. Cool!

vintageFenceSitter 2 days ago +1
Don’t speak for all Iranians as if they’re a monolith, BumWarrior. The IRI and IRGC can gargle balls, but this is a very divisive topic within Iran and especially in the diaspora.
1
BumWarrior69 2 days ago +1
The divisiveness is more about who is causing the overthrow of the government rather than the Islamic republic being overthrown. If the Islamic republic is overthrown, how the power vacuum is managed is the biggest concern to avoid a civil war, however let’s not pretend that the majority want the Islamic republic to stay.

Frequent_Confusion69 3 days ago -3
I doubt you are. What happened to all your comments? And how much are you paid?
-3
BumWarrior69 3 days ago +5
Paid for what? Do you think the average person wants a theocratic regime that enforced arcane and dehumanizing laws? To live in a place where the power constantly goes out, to not have free speech or freedom of expression, to face being murdered for your sexuality or for not covering up your hair?  Just because you have certain privileges doesn’t mean the rest of the world does.

It’s always the everyday people catching the strays for politicians' geopolitical ego trips. Genuinely heartbreaking. >

I don't blame them, our government is a f****** unchecked monster right now.

14 days of peace talks is diabolical. Next thing you'll hear Trump declares another 24 hour deadline to Iran. 🫠
7
reddit_user_0212 3 days ago +7
Honestly how can anyone take him seriously? His threats are meaningless
7
TheRessistance 3 days ago +11
You aren’t wrong, the problem is he’s old and senile and still has the nuclear codes. It only takes him making good one of his stupid threats to start WW3
11
clayingmore 3 days ago +2
He seems to be more dangerous when the threats aren't made and he just acts. How many negotiating teams has he just killed rather than deal with now? Would we include the countless IRGC generals who were assassinated in that list? Presumably they would have been in the chain and decision makers at some point after the Ayatollah died. So Trump threats might be meaningless, but Trump being a threat sure as f*** isn't.
2
Digital_Flatline 3 days ago +14
Because his "promises" are meaningless as well , you dont have to take him seriously you have to take the situation seriously.
14
PricedOut4Ever 3 days ago +1
As a skeptic, Trump drew a redline literally in Iran killing civilians and enforced it to the point the leader of the country is dead. So, yeah. Lots of misinformation out there but I’d definitely take the threats seriously.

It’s Trumps pressure - I want no part of war crimes, nor do any of my neighbors.
5
DarkwingDawg 3 days ago +11
Well he has the power of the US behind him so… it’s US pressure whether you like it or not

AmbassadorOkieDokie 3 days ago +2
American liberalism: I want no part in it, but neither will I significantly diminish my own privilege to stop it.

I worked in a large international organization. No one in their right mind who actually has experience in international diplomacy thinks Obama and Trump are the same where international impacts are concerned.
3
palosadtho 3 days ago -2
They are both terrorists and murderers. There hasn't been a moral head of state in the US for centuries.
-2
LaScoundrelle 3 days ago +2
Who, pray tell, do you think was a US president centuries ago who you think was more morally oriented than Obama? It sounds to me like you just don’t like US interventionism. Unfortunately, heads of states that are US allies often do.

More like upset about the untethered and unstable lunatic calling for the elimination of an entire civilization. Oh, and that aforementioned untethered lunatic? Yeah, he has the nuclear codes. Oh, and no one in his dipshit cabinet or congress is willing to do anything to stop him. Because absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Run defense? Both sides agreed to stop fighting for two weeks while they negotiate. This is objectively a good thing for both sides and the rest of the world. Idk why ppl can’t just take the small victory. It’s a real step towards stopping this shit. If you are upset about the war shouldn’t you be happy rn?
5
AbraxasTuring 3 days ago -3
Not a W. At all. Read the 10 point agreement. I'm glad there's a ceasefire but we never should have blundered into this quagmire.
-3
Ok-Lingonberry7143 3 days ago +4
Yeah I’m not taking the announcements of Iran seriously lol. Seems very unlikely the US would consider even half of that. It’s wild people take anything they say at face value. They just killed 30k of their own people like a month ago
4
AbraxasTuring 3 days ago -2
There's no way to spin anything in the 10 point ceasefire that isn't giant L compared to the status quo before Feb. 28th. -We have 13 American soldiers killed -We have 300+ soldiers wounded -We've killed 3000+ Iranians and 180 schoolgirls -Oil is above $100, gas above $4.10 -Under the ceasefire the Strait is run by Iran with a $2M toll -We've replaced the Ayatollah with a more militant Ayatollbooth, effectively the IRGC -We spent maybe $30B Where's the win, or the justification, or the rationale? How can you spin this any other way than a phat geopolitical W for Iran?
-2
Ok-Lingonberry7143 3 days ago +3
Because it’s a step towards stopping the fighting? Would you prefer the bombing continue and the strait stay closed? The reactions here are so weird. It’s like people want it to continue so that their WW3 predictions come true.
3
AbraxasTuring 3 days ago -1
No, we never should have started this war. I wasn't happy about Vietnam either. What a clusterphuck.
-1
Ok-Lingonberry7143 3 days ago +3
Ok well it started. Grumbling about a ceasefire that could lead to a more permanent peace is weird af
3
AbraxasTuring 3 days ago +1
We (The US) is in a much worse position now. Nothing to celebrate, just relieved the shooting has stopped.

Seems like business as usual. I would think someone alive during the Cold War, gulf wars, and the Iraq war would have some perspective on that. The world has never been a peaceful place. Compared to the age before the end of ww2, it’s actually a relatively peaceful time. Deaths due to war/battle are down like 90% compared to before then. Look it up if you don’t believe me.
2
AbraxasTuring 3 days ago
I agree with all that. I can't believe we committed such an unforced error here. It's 20% of the world's oil handed to Iran and 33% if their allies the Houthis close the Red Sea. What an incredible self own.

The way trump believes he's 'saving' the Iranian people is insane. He just doesnt give a shit about POC. The Iranian government isnt great but Iranians dont deserve to live in fear because of what the US-isreal started

true, but given the choice to live to see another day or a cruise missile, the former is obvious

One day he's promising to save them. The next day he's threatening to obliterate their civilisation. What kind of an absolute f****** moron do you need to be as a Western supporter of Iranian democracy or as an Iranian expat to support these evil men attacking the nation like this. Regardless of how bad the Ayatollahs are, these people are cheering on the destruction of a nation and the murder of a people (their own nation and people in some cases) by malign, violent foreigners who don't even see them as human.

The US is marketing the sustained cuban blockade as 'in pursuit of the liberation of the cuban people'. The US is giving a "double thumbs up + trump grin" while actively and intentionally starving a population and robbing them of any and all effective medical care.

So before we attacked the strait was open water and post attack Iran now officially controls it? Did I miss something?
-1
AbraxasTuring 3 days ago
No it's a phat Iranian W and we look incredibly foolish. China is now the only global superpower. Mark my words, American was in decline, and Trump pushed it over the cliff.

Mr_Doubtful 3 days ago
I agree. No one is talking that these tolls are going to be collected in Chinese currency too

The US petrodollar regime and world's reserve currency's days are numbered. When the yuan or a basket takes over it's gonna be a big $hit sandwich and we'll all have to take a bite.

Well, to be fair, Trump did threaten to kill all the innocent children in the country so I would be afraid of somebody that could even suggest such a thing.
