The ceasefire is still in effect.

Well, the title of this post says that these gunboats are firing oil tankers. So it’s not that clear. Is it?

The USA has so far not violated the ceasefire. It's entirely possible that the gunboats were not ordered to do this by the IRGC and were some kind of indepdent actors. Maybe they are in communication about this right now. Even though there is high tension, there's no reason why cooler heads cannot prevail in this situation.
And yes, I think that someone else has taken control of this operation because if Pete Hegseth was in charge he would have resumed strikes immediately after this incident.

Trump will no doubt be shocked by this development that he didn't plan for, despite Iran planning and threatening it for 40 years.

You’re telling me the Iranian navy is not all 100% destroyed and sunk? Shocked, I say!!

Armed with machine guns, RPGs and small missiles. Could do some damage, especially in large numbers.

Its like saying Somalia has a "navy"

They both have enough boats to make commercial ships avoid the area.

Its semantic arguments like this that show why America is trash at asymmetric warfare. A Toyota pickup with a mounted Anti-aircraft gun isn't less dangerous because it doesn't meet the definition of an armored vehicle.

It does when it has to go up against an armored vehicle. This "navy" will find out in a couple of days

What do you even mean? During a ceasefire they are attempting this... God damn there are some dumbass listnookors

The ceasefire is a joke lol. Everyone is just rearming.

Only seem capable of attacking unarmed commercial ships.

Yes, but that's all they need to keep Israel and US at bay.

So can cars, vans and buses with guns strapped to them... however, an armoured devision it does not make.

Kinda irrelevant in this case. The gunboats can still stop shipping entirely.

They are stopping one fifth of the worlds oil with their ‘civilian like speed boats’ , that’s pretty impressive (in a bad way) for not-a-navy when the U.S. has 3 carrier groups there .

So the formal Iranian Navy was virtually entirely destroyed. 92% reported by the IRGC and IRIN, and 96% by the US/Israel and other sources.
The IRGCN took roughly 25-30% in losses. BUT to call it a Navy is giving them way too much credit. It’s essentially boats no bigger than a pontoon with weapons on them. In large numbers they’d give a large ship a hard time, but they’re extremely susceptible to anything in the air or anything from a distance.

Wait a minute don’t Trump and Pete say they completely destroyed the Iranian navy?
Iran just restarted the war. They made a huge mistake that will lead to the downfall of the Islamic Republic.

They warned they will do so if US maintains the blockade. But idunno man, one moment it’s open, ome it’s closed.
Atp I feel like both countries are doing it on purpose just to make money off the stock market lol

It doesn't matter if Iran warned anyone. It's a war crime regardless.

Unfortunately no one gives a f***. Every month we hear how Russia is commiting war crimes in Ukraine too. Even Trump said he will target civilian infrastructure if the Strait does not reopen.
