As the possibility of a ground confrontation looms, expectations are also growing that protesters inside Iran may once again challenge the regime’s security grip in the coming weeks.

> other opposition figures accused these gatherings of being influenced by Israel or pro-Israel lobbying networks. Lol, it's obvious they partly are, the same way Iran is influencing the opposition to Israel. As long as they're doing it with signs and protests rather than bombs it's just how lobbying works.

>However, this alleged connection appears to be indirect, involving individuals who previously worked in public relations for AIPAC. Someone there knows someone who has a friend who once talked to a former AIPAC member, it must be the jews! These are such pathetic excuses. Iran literally used to be an ally of israel before being conquered by islam 47 years ago. Nothing in this article gives proof to anything it claims. But "trust me bro" works well enough on people who don't need evidence to be convinced of anything.

I'm Iranian, and this isn't an opposition group anyone wants, whether they're inside or outside the country. They basically just threw some names together and called it an "opposition," even some of them already have ties to the Iranian regime. The only opposition people believe in and called its name is led by Reza Pahlavi

I’m also Iranian. I know of many Iranians who are supportive of this group. Whatever your stance on Reza Pahlavi, we should be open to hearing diverse voices and options for opposition. Do you have sources for their ties to the regime?

Iranians are open to other groups as far as they are not regime supporters or other islamist-communist sects. But one expects all other dissidents to acknowledge Pahlavi, his supporters, and the fact that majority of January protesters (largest demonstrations against the Islamic regime) were his supporters. It’s not too long since those people claimed Pahlavi dorsn’t have much support in Iran. Now that they are proven wrong, they should acknowledge that Pahlavi is at least one of the major political figures and probably the most popular one. There is nothing wrong with having multiple parties/schools of thoughts, as far as everybody acknowledges the size of their supporters and hence their strength.

Agreed, I think we’re pretty much saying the same thing. At this point there’s no denying Pahlavi has the majority support of Iranians inside and outside Iran, and I’m (cautiously) optimistic about him myself. That’s pretty widely recognized. My point is that there have been a lot of baseless smears on people or groups who aren’t wholeheartedly and unequivocally die hard Pahlavi monarchists / supporters and that’s one element of the Pahlavi movement that’s been a bit off putting for me. As long as groups/people aren’t actively derailing the common goal of regime change and are not regime supporters / Islamic communist sects as you mentioned, there will naturally be alternative groups that pop up, along with supporters, and we should be ok with that. It shows our maturity and capacity for opposing views as a culture. To say no one wants them and they are regime-affiliated is a baseless smear imo (according to my research but open to being proven wrong), same lines as the Masih Alinejad smearing.

I think we are on the same page. I, myself, have no issue at all with other groups contributing and being involved. I believe there are other good players (and a ton of bad ones). I always refer to what Pahlavi himself says about these issues and you cannot deny that he has been flexible and mature as a politician. A lot of people might be “more catholic than the pope” and I agree that they are not helping. But Pahlavi just started a coalition with people like Shirin Ebadi and have done with others in the past that shows he’s willing to work with other people that might not necessarily be 100% pahlavist but they probably agree on the roadmap he set a while ago for a free Iran (the 4 basic rules. You can read them online if you have not). Masih Alinejad smearing is one of those things that is not helping. Ok she might not get along with Pahlavi but I think at the end, they are both helping (different amount of help) building a free Iran. And if I’m proven wrong about Masih Alinejad, I’ll update my beliefs. But for now there is no reason to focus on criticizing her while she’s helping us in (her own way) overthrowing the regime we all hate.
