Trump bragged about this and said he wants to hit more bridges and power plants. Guy is unhinged

Does there come a point where we say enough is enough? If Congress can’t recognize that he has a screw loose, something has to be done.

Congress? What Congress? War? What war?

space_force_majeure Apr 3, 2026 +75
Sorry, we actually need two thirds majority in both houses to vote to simply maintain powers granted by the constitution, otherwise the USA defaults to executive dictatorship. Also, one man in the House of Reps can just prevent the vote. The way the founders intended. There was super small text clarifying this, written in the border of the constitution, like in Santa Clause 2.

Let's not pretend there aren't a sizeable number of Democrats also ideologically or financially aligned with interests that want this war to continue. To claim otherwise is intellectually dishonest.

4 of the 214 House Democrats and 1 of the 48 Democrat Senators voted to allow this war to continue unbridled. Let's not pretend this is some both sides thing.

How many millions of people hit the streets last weekend? Outside of revolt, not sure what you expect.
35
Key-Rough-8346 Apr 3, 2026 +45
It was the largest protest in American history with over 8,000,000 people in the streets. I wasn’t among them because I was sick. And our media barely covered it.
45
Shopworn_Soul Apr 3, 2026 +37
Our fully captured media was instructed to minimize it, and did.

RoseCityHooligan Apr 3, 2026 +3

ViolettaQueso Apr 3, 2026 +8
MSNow covered only it all day. But that was just for people like me (and maybe you) both too sick to go. But it’s the only place I can find these days that is unafraid to call this shit out.

DaveShadow Apr 3, 2026 +1
If such a movement is that ignorable, then the harsh reality is it did not achieve its aims. Everyone gathering with signs for a single day and having a good sing song, before heading back to work the next day and allowing the status quo to continue, isn’t going to stop Trump. If a message is so easily ignorable, it wasn’t a good message to begin with.
1
flightist Apr 3, 2026 +30
As a non-American, I’ve been reliably informed there was a specific amendment put in place to keep government accountable to the populace.

8

That's simply not true. 29 state level legislative seats have been flipped from R to D. Not one has gone the other way.
17
buddy_pal_guy Apr 3, 2026 +3
.... you think that's because people marched? The people marching decided on who they're voting against before they ever showed up
3
Geaux2020 Apr 3, 2026 +2
No. I think because people were motivated enough to march they were motivated to go to the polls. Think of it as a rally because that's what it is.
2
TrickshotCandy Apr 3, 2026 +2
Not directed at you, but when does this start making any difference to the global shitshow?

Low_Witness5061 Apr 3, 2026 +7
Sadly it’s true. I think it’s great that there are so many people willing to show that they don’t support this administration. It’s not enough to simply do it once every 3-6 months and at times when it’s not too disruptive to people’s lives. Like it or not there’s no chance that an administration which is blatantly banking on subverting the democratic institutions of America is going to be scared by the protests since all they represent is how many Americans will vote against them if there is a free election. At this point all it’s doing is motivating them to do whatever it takes to hold onto power. If people want civil disobedience to sway the government then it needs to be large and constant enough to start costing the shitheads funding the president/congress. Trump doesn’t care about anybody else’s opinion.
7
witchofpain Apr 3, 2026 +4
We should be occupying DC and shutting highways down
4
redyellowblue5031 Apr 3, 2026
Because you need enough people in Republican districts to make republics and feel their job is in danger. Clearly, they also want this.
0
Good_Stretch5445 Apr 3, 2026 +3
Mass strikes across all sectors would bring them to the table. Easier said than done, and as a non American I empathise with people who did not vote for this, but the guy and his cabinet are scum.
3
SteveJobsDeadBody Apr 3, 2026 +2
A general strike and full on stoppage of consuming for a couple weeks would end it. Boycotts of any company using Oracle or any other product that supports Israel would make a MASSIVE difference in very little time. Americans are so f****** weak.

Well according to hitler "trump's favourite" iranians are more aryan than americans.
1
Sunnysidhe Apr 3, 2026 +1
Considering that the origins of Aryan was to depict people from ancient Iran or the north Indian subcontinent, he was correct.
1
Cagnazzo82 Apr 3, 2026 +4
Hegseth is firing numerous generals that are likely pushing back. So at this time congress would need to sweep the administration clean to fix this.
4

That point will be exactly January 21st, 2027. A Thursday. So Vance can get 10 years as president.

1

It's gross that Republicans are unwilling to reign in their most unpopular President.
1
AndrewCoja Apr 3, 2026 -1
There's likely nothing that can be done until November, when we vote, and then hope Democrats take control of congress and then wait until January when they can take back the legislative branch's authority. Until then, there's really nothing anyone can do. Mike Johnson is too busy pretending he's never heard of anything. I don't even know who the senate majority leader is because our legislative branch doesn't do anything at the moment.

A second strike was sent to kill first responders on scene helping those wounded in the first strike
37

Weren't there a second strike of the girl school on the location where they all gathered for safety?
3

Do we count each of the children as an individual war crime or does America want a bulk d******* on horror?
2

It seems his buddy Putin taught him a trick or two.
6
randolphe1000 Apr 3, 2026 +17
No need. IIRC, "second strikes" to kill 1st responders were an *israeli* innovation, in the 80's I think? Russia only made this an habit for "every day bombings", instead of a "targeted assassinations" thing, but they didn't originate it.
17
TheDwarvenGuy Apr 3, 2026 +8
Nah it was an Israeli thing
8
Definitelynotasloth Apr 3, 2026 +16
He needs to be impeached and imprisoned, otherwise we are simply Western Russia. It’s probably too late, but hopefully midterms can give us a Hail Mary.
16
printzonic Apr 3, 2026 +1
Not just him, anyone in an official position that enabled his crimes, from supreme court judges to the lowliest bureaucrat. And not to forget all the business people that have bribed him and the foreign countries that did the same. Then maybe you can consider yourselves part of the free and democratic world in ten to twenty years time.
1
TXLancastrian Apr 3, 2026 +1
Impeachment doesn't have penalties outside of losing the Presidency. And there are no other pending criminal charges against him
1
Definitelynotasloth Apr 3, 2026 +7
The Supreme Court has ruled that the president has absolute immunity, which is why he needs to be impeached to be imprisoned. He has a litany of crimes that he has committed. He is already a 34-time felon. He has also been bribed by many foreign countries, profited off of the presidency, and has trampled all over the constitution.
7
TXLancastrian Apr 3, 2026 +1
There are no pending charges waiting on him. The DoJ is the one who would bring Federal charges. Who do you think would be President if he got impeached today?
1
pleasetrimyourpubes Apr 3, 2026 +5
He has made a pretty compelling case for treason. But congress isn't doing shit unless he brings out the nukes. Which might happen if 10k marines wind up being slaughtered in the meat grinder.
5
witchofpain Apr 3, 2026 +3
They can be refiled.
3
TXLancastrian Apr 3, 2026
What charges can be refiled? No charges brought against him were dropped. He was convicted but not sentenced, on crimes that likely would have not gotten jail time. There are no other criminal charges pending or waiting for him to not be president.
0
witchofpain Apr 3, 2026 +1
My understanding is that the stolen files and the election interference were dropped but the ability to refile was left available. But maybe I’m wrong. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time in this godforsaken timeline.
1
TXLancastrian Apr 3, 2026 +1
Both federal cases that weren't dropped per se. The guy became the DoJs boss and ordered the prosecutions ended. Vance would not order them re opened.
1
witchofpain Apr 3, 2026 +2
And who says it will be Vance. If he lives to 29 and a Dem gets in there they can be reopened. As long as there is a DoJ that isn’t a p**** *cough* Merrick Garland.
2
JG98 Apr 3, 2026 +1

Trump is literally going to destroy America with this war. It'll be as critical an era as The Civil War and WWII. Don't make the mistake in thinking this ends in a month or so and settles down. There are massive supply shocks and a big recession (if not worse) now baked in, and the war itself will probably go on for months if not years, and the possibility of it dragging in other powers is not small. We're in a VERY dangerous time and theres no apparent off ramp.
119
BoiseXWing Apr 3, 2026 +12
The 25th amendment and Impeachment are off ramps…Republicans are just blocking them
12
TheSaltySpitoon37 Apr 3, 2026 +1
What other amendments provide an off ramp?
1
corizano Apr 3, 2026 +40
This is the bit people aren’t thinking about.. Even if the straight opens right this minute the amount of held up shipping of oil and fertiliser is catastrophic. In Australia for example the guys seeding winter crops will have enough fertiliser to get a crop on but will most likely then not have enough fert to hit the first milestone. Which doesn’t sound bad but it will downgrade the entire harvest.
40
lost_horizons Apr 3, 2026 +30
Africa, much poorer, may not be able to afford the exploding price at all, could result in serious famine. Just higher prices for us in the wealthy nations.
30
corizano Apr 3, 2026 -8
I’m not sure how much it would affect Africa? Are they using as much synthetic fertiliser and diesel? Most documentaries I’ve watched farming seems to be done with hand tools and organics?
-8
LaScoundrelle Apr 3, 2026 +16
Goodness. Fertilizers have had a major role in allowing the population to grow as large as it has worldwide, by allowing people to produce much more food. It will have huge impacts in poor countries especially.
16
Admiral_de_Ruyter Apr 3, 2026 +5
The Haber process supports about half the world’s population so yes a big impact will come.

Lol what? Those types of discussions have been happening all the time on things like Reuters and Bloomberg podcasts since the war started. I just listened to a discussion about the fertilizer situation like a day or two ago. And they talk about the problems that'll be persistent even after the war with the Strait like every day.
1
scuzzy987 Apr 3, 2026 +18
I share your sentiments. I keep having a sense of dread when the music stops playing and everyone scrambles for chairs and some countries find out there's not enough chairs for them. What happens then? I have the same feeling on a smaller scale with my city and neighborhood

only americans dont realize that the american empire era has already ended things are never going back to as they were. teh US had a special spot amongst western nations because of what it did in ww2, and the desperate state of the rest of the west at that time. outside of that very very very specific and rare set of conditions, no country would EVER get as much support to be a 'chosen' empire like the US had been and now that we've disconnected from that past, the US will never be able to reconnect to it, because no other country would be dumb enough to by choice become that dependent on any other country (even an ally). it was necessity not choice that brough the US to where it was. the ties that heald that have been broken. theres no bringing it back, even if/when trump dies or loses an election. america has forsaken its place as a super power
5
VanceKelley Apr 3, 2026 +1
Maybe next time a convicted criminal runs for president on the promise to rule as a dictator more than 31% of eligible voters will show up to vote against him. Or maybe not, because America.
1
AzureFides Apr 3, 2026 +1
Usually it's not the whole world that gets to suffer from stupid people in one nation decided to vote for an idiot. Trump is literally driving the whole world to bankruptcy and US still does nothing. I will never want to hear any brag from Americans about their freedom ever again in my entire life.
1
The_Frostweaver Apr 3, 2026 +48
It's hard to see this as part of a coherent strategy and not Trump and Pete Hegseth blowing shit up just because it looks cool on his daily "shit we blew up" video. This could be why Pete fired the head of the military too, that guy didn't want to be part of this, whatever this is the start of. When you don't have serious people at the top it erodes decisions all the way down.
48
turtzah41 Apr 3, 2026 +15
One of the first things they did when they started this term was clear out all the high ranking military members that didn't want to fall in line.
15

It is absolutely a coherent strategy. It's not this government's strategy. Someone is benefitting greatly from this.

Yeah and then what? We withdraw and play defense for the next decade, not to mention all our allies in the region getting shit lobbed at them constantly. We would just get pulled back in
1
pleasetrimyourpubes Apr 3, 2026 +10
You know that's why this will become a ground war and an occupation.
10
VanceKelley Apr 3, 2026 +1
That would take the war from dumb to dumberer. Only a "f****** moron" would do that. Oops.
1
Vickrin Apr 3, 2026 +12
> We withdraw and play defense for the next decade, not to mention all our allies in the region getting shit lobbed at them constantly. Yup. That's what Trump has done. BUT if the USA backs off with its tail between its legs and pays for reparation, MAYBE Iran will be nice to them. That is literally the position Trump has put the USA into. They need to literally bow down to Iran or get completely fucked.
12
Captain_Wag Apr 3, 2026 +10
Pay Iran reparations? You're living in a dream world if you think that could happen.
10

Sad day for engineers
24
UnTides Apr 3, 2026 +3
More like payday for engineers. Iran is a huge country, this strike just happened to blow up something more costly than the bomb that hit it. But this war can't last without making America go broke... and it would be a fool's errand, because America can't successfully invade a country like Iran. We can't even control the Strait of Hormuz
3
tms2x2 Apr 3, 2026 +28
I've read some economic articles about the strait being closed. Said April 20, mid month things will start to get real. Boats expected to show up, won't. Then the real shortages begin. There's 20-40 day delay for shipping. Parts of Asia are going to hurt real bad. Looking at the list, it looks like where most electronics are manufactured except for China. Taiwan memory and CPU, Thailand makes most of the hard drives.

-19
hauntingdreamspace Apr 3, 2026 +9
I don't know a lot about Iran but I've read that Iran is only 30% muslim and their Muslims are closer to Turkish than to Saudi in terms of religiousness and views towards women. The problem is the irgc which is more Arab-style over religious ruling class, ruling over a much more normal/chill majority. Bombings like this might drive Iranians to become more extreme in their religious views not less so it's probably counterproductive if you want fewer acid attacks against women. Escalating attacks haven't worked on Gaza, and that's a tiny bit of land. I don't think there's any chance to work on Iran.

And USA politicians r*** kids, what's your point? Do not "both sides" this shit, it's a f****** war crime. They hit the bridge, then double tapped it when emergency services and rescuers arrived.
