It’s such a great show, with a perfect cast. There are 156 episodes, and I’m sad the we are almost finished. I know that we have The Good Fight available, and we are all caught up on Elsbeth, but I enjoy the clever scripts of the original. My favorite is the recurring characters who pop up at very opportune times!
Not watching it now, just watched it in real time, and it’s the absolute best. But I think I might have liked The Good Fight even better. It’s a terrific premise (reinvention/fish out of water) and a wonderful showcase for Christine Baranski, and the cast around her is phenomenal. That one I might go back and rewatch.

The Good Fight gets really silly in the end.

I agree that Good Fight is the better of the two, but if you’re thinking of a rewatch it’s worth realizing that the finale hits differently post-2024.

Yeah the Good Fight is like a super enjoyable b-side to the series. Reminds me a bit of Breaking Bad and BSC in that way--it's just like a fun reinvention that's wholly enjoyable if you liked the original at all.
And Elsbeth is their newest spin-off, which carries on that character, and while it's totally different, it does feel enjoyable. I like it less though.
Evil, their other series, was VERY good and in general kind of felt like a subplot on an episode made into a series.

The Kings also had a 1-season political comedy in 2016 called i think Brain Dead about US hyper-partisanship being caused by alien brain bugs.

They also have a new drama next season on CBS (not sure yet if fall or midseason) called Cupertino which returns them to the legal world, set in the titular city that is part of Silicon Valley. It's framed as a David vs Goliath type, with an upstart firm against the big billionaire-backed tech firms. It reteams them with Mike Colter of Evil, with other cast members (some recurring) including Rachel Keller, Ella Stiller, Nik Dodani, and Busy Phillips.

Braindead is one of my all time favorite series. It's a shame it didn't get renewed.

For a second I thought you were saying Evil was a spin-off of The Good Wife and I was like "Wow, the advertising didn't do those shows justice."

I haven’t seen Elspeth, might check it out. And I thoroughly enjoyed her in TGF, but wondering if she can carry a whole series.

It is one of my favourte shows ... ever! Many people wanted it to keep going but Julianna Margulies says she was utterly exhausted - and when you think she was in each and every episode no wonder. it's a long way from Snakes on a Plane (but she was the best part of that too!)
The cameos never felt false or forced, inserted just to boost the ratings (e.g. like Bruce Willis or Elle McPherson in Friends, who, IMO, added nothing). Michael J Fox is excellent - as is Matthew Perry - both abhorrent but strangely likeable characters.
I thought the Good Fight was very good too but quite a different vibe.

There was some drama on the set too apparently, she did not get along with Archie Panjabi (Kalinda) towards the end and was bad enough that she insisted on filming her last scene with Archie separately so she didn't have to see her in person.

I'm rewatching it for the 2nd time. I always thought this show would have been even more popular if it had a different title. I know I initially passed on it due to the show title.
But I love all of the shows done by the Kings. You might look up "Braindead", also done by them. Another fantastic series that only lasted 1 year.

Just finished this weekend.
Started The Good Fight.
I know it's supposed to mirror real world stuff and it was 2016 but so far all the Trump references are exhausting :(

I just keep thinking that whomever watched it back when it was airing and decided to buy some bitcoins after seeing them in the show made some serious money (if they held).

I came across it a couple of years ago and loved it too. It’s one of those shows that I wished would go on forever. After I finished it I watched The Good Fight which I also enjoyed, at least the first season. I think that got weird by season 3 (?) and I gave up on it.

Loved The Good Wife and The Good Fight, but Elsbeth is utterly unwatchable to me. That's a character that's fine in small doses, but way too much for an entire show.

Finished it last year, and mostly really loved it, until it somewhat abandoned its legal drama genre and moved more towards politics. But still, great show.
I continued with Good Fight afterwards, but quit somewhere in season 2. Just wasn't my vibe. I started The Practice afterwards and that's really been better than both honestly.

True. I like the legal drama better. I’ll have to try The Practice. Watching Law and Order UK on Brit box, and it’s quite unique!

The Gilded Age was clever & fun if you're looking for drama/ensemble shows, Christine Baranski is a key character too.

Love The Gilded Age and looking forward to new episodes. Several actors appear in both series. It was funny watching both Nathan Lane and Christine Baranski as 2 completely characters in one viewing night! I believe both shows film in the same location, so there are many Broadway actors in the casts.

I liked it until what season 5 or 6 with that prison arc and Alicia getting too smart and better than the other experienced lawyers. I think around Will’s death it was downhill
