It's a Brazilian tv show from 1998. Recently it has come up a lot on my feed and caught my attention. I didn't find many reviews on it, since it's quite old and is in portuguese, with barely any english subtitles. If anyone has seen it please lmk.
I haven't seen Hilda Furacão but Brazilian telenovelas from that era were actually pretty wild 🔥 The late 90s stuff had way better production values than people give them credit for. If it's showing up on your feed a lot there's probably a reason - those algoritms know what's up
Finding subtitles for older Brazilian content is such a pain though, might be worth checking if any fan communities made unofficial ones. Sometimes the streaming services add them later if there's enough demand 😂

I found a fanmade website on this tv show's sublistnook with the subtitles in good quality. And yes, my feed definitely knows what I'm into. Can't say I've been as excited to watch a foreign tv show before.

Never expected to see someone ask about it.
It is a pretty solid drama piece, it was a big deal back in the day because its themes were a bit too strong for public television. These days, not so much. Is it worth watching? If you like drama and romance, and want to say you watched classic Brazilian miniseries, perhaps. Can't tell you anything about the quality of foreign subtitles, though.

I'm not very picky on genres when it comes to television, however I'm not a fan of extremely slow-burn and unnecessarily dragged stories, or just shows with repeated plots and hundreds of episodes. I don't really expect that from this TV show since it has like 30 episodes but I could be wrong. I have found just one website that offers english subtitles and the quality is pretty good if you ask me.

Sou brasileiro e suspeito para falar, mas é um programa muito bom, mistura realidade e ficção. Uma pena o streaming brasileiro GloboPlay não disponibilizar legendas ou dublagem para vocês.

While searching for it, I couldn't find this show on any streaming services, and definitely not with english subtitles. I never watch dub because of uneven quality, However I did find the show on a website with fanmade subtitles and the quality is pretty good. This might be my one of my first foreign tv shows and I have high expectations lol.

I just finished this show a few hours ago. I really enjoyed watching the juxtaposition between freedom and control and how the show depicts it romantically, politically, and within religion. If you like forbidden romance, drama, and politics then I think you should give it a watch.
