first four seasons are solid but i actually enjoyed hotel and 1984 too, just depends what you're into. each season is standalone so you can jump around - i started with asylum which was perfect for getting hooked

Asylum was my favorite. I watched the first few episodes of hotel and I just couldn’t get into it. Freak show could’ve been better. I love media about old carnivals but the story was weak.

You can watch any season on its own. Some of them are interlinked but they don’t really need that external knowledge. On the other hand, the show is not really very good, and I say this having watched multiple seasons of it. YMMV tho

Each season is its own story with recurring actors, plus some loose universe connections later. Totally safe to just try Season 1 (“Murder House”) and bail if it’s not your vibe.

In handful of months it’ll be 15 YEARS since the debut season.
Even if you started now, like most things that “you had to be there” energy is all but gone.
I’m still interested in maybe doing a rewatch eventually though. (Off the top of my head I can’t recall what season I petered off.)
