They both appeal to "Gen Z trashy taste" with style over substance and fit into their political views. They both like Jacob Elordi (probably because Fennell has Euphoria watcher written all over her). But Levinson is a guy and Fennell is feminist so it leads to some different hang ups.
Yes - they are both in the category of over indulgent, pseudo-intellectual nepo babies who make their own p*** and force it on the rest of us

Fennell definitely knows how to build tension without relying on shock value every 5 minutes. Levinson seems like he discovered neon lighting and decided that was his entire personality as director

I watched the first episode of Euphoria on Monday and all I could think was, "This reminds me of that piece of shit show The Idol."
I hadn't realized Levinson did The Idol. Lol. He is genuine schlock. Even Euphoria is a terrible show that is stylized and focuses on that style over any substance. It's a great hate watch, tho. One example. The drug kingpin Laurie. What a stupid character. Oh she talks funny but is menacing despite the funny talk. How bold!!!
The Idol was not even a hate watch. It's a "I should kill myself for watching this," watch. Needless to say, I don't think Levinson has much to say.
Fennell is not in the same league. She makes great stuff that is provocative but not schlock.
