Is there a good ‘TV Guide’ equivalent for streaming?

Posted by LibrarianAcademic396

I feel like with so many streaming services I’m always missing new shows or seasons returning of shows I wanted to follow up on. I’m never sure what all I need to check for new releases. Does anyone have a good TV guide style newsletter of sorts that just catalogues everything coming out each week? It seems like even on the streaming services I use daily their delivery service for shows is so dogshit that I never actually know what’s released daily, just whatever 10 things their system thinks I want to see repeated in every single category. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, the three I use most all fall into this. I have to search for stuff specifically or I never find it. They even curate the ‘new releases’ section by algo. You don’t see all the new releases you see only tje ones it thinks you care about

Sorry about that. Anything specific that has been disappointing? We try to investigate all reports we are getting and fix them if possible.

Sirat came out on Hulu earlier this month and doesn't show it. Noticed several You Tube movies that are no longer free on YT. Also a couple movies that say they're on The Roku channel that are no longer there.

Hi there, thank you for these details, it's very helpful! We checked Sirat and fixed it so the Hulu offer is there now. Thank you so much for flagging this. We recently fixed our YouTube free integration so it would be helpful if you could share examples where we got it wrong, and we can double check that this is working smoothly. Same with Roku, if you have any specific titles to share, please let us know and we can investigate further.

I like JustWatch because it lets you filter on streaming services so you can just look through what you have. You can also sort by "new" or "popular" so you can find something new or something new to you.

Ironically, wikipedia does a good job of seeing current and future programming (as well as old original programming).

Been using this website, [https://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat](https://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat), since 2010, and I still haven’t found a better one for tracking TV shows.

I love TV Calendar because it is simple compared to most others. I love when I flip a couple months ahead and see one of my favorite shows that I feel I've been waiting a lifetime for the next season.

I've been using that site for as long as I can remember. One slightly funny thing though is they censor the word "murder" to "cuddle" which does result in some funny synopses, especially when they refer to cuddlers.

I use trakt (and have been using it for like 8ish years). You have to manually enter when you watch episodes, but it keeps track of what episodes you haven’t seen, premiere dates, it also tells you what streaming services stuff is on. I find it super helpful for that “oh i didn’t know this show has a new season out!” You can also track shows you want to watch, and it’ll track those in the calendar feature too. It has a okay recommendation feature, but I like to browse people’s niche lists of movies and shows.

IMDB: [https://www.imdb.com/what-to-watch/watch-guides/?ref\_=watch\_tpks\_tb](https://www.imdb.com/what-to-watch/watch-guides/?ref_=watch_tpks_tb) At the beginning of every month, there will be a newsletter for every new show/movie coming that month across all services. [This was the April one](https://www.imdb.com/list/ls4171355290/?ref_=fea_eds_center-7_lk). Create a free account and add shows to your watchlist to keep track.

There's also TVInsider which is the online home for TV Guide Magazine and its editorial content (TVGuide.com is a separate business). They talk about streaming as much as they do cable

On Android been using the app TV Time for many years now. Obviously gotta add all the shows you watch, but once that done it's nice to have on the homescreen a calendar-like widget. I'm sure there's some on iPhone too.

I use the [serializd](https://www.serializd.com/) app. I describe it as letterboxd but for TV. Once you start tracking shows it highlights when new seasons/episodes are releasing as well as having a Popular tab so you can see what other users are watching to find new shows coming out. You can mark watched seasons and episodes, so you always know where you are in shows if you've got a lot going at once.

I've been doing it for many years. Sometimes I drop shows and I wanna rewatch it and it's great to know where I stopped. Even the similar tab on a show page helped me find new shows to watch.

I have an app called TV Club I’ve used for years. You tell it what shows you want to follow and it lets you track how many episodes you’ve seen and will alert you when new episodes are released. It covers all platforms.

Been using Hobi for a number of years, bit like Letterboxd for TV - not perfect, but does let you know where you're at with shows episode-wise and when new seasons arrive. Also provides stats of your viewing habits

I know everyone keeps saying justwatch and that's good for knowing what tv series and movies are on streaming services (which does answer the question)... but is there a site for looking at live/upcoming live for streaming services as far as things like sports (there are occasionally other live things on streaming services, but it's almost always sports)? Trying to figure out what service things are on can seem like a homework assignment sometimes... would be nice to have a tvguide-like feature for that. Maybe with my job slowly becoming obsolete to AI, I can use my actual real brain power and see if I can make one if one doesn't exist. Unfortunately, with streaming services taking over region-locked sports streaming too, might not be very straightforward.

I had the same frustration until I started using SevenIPTV. Their EPG (TV Guide) is actually accurate and stays updated, so it feels just like using a traditional cable box.
