There wasn’t any to begin with. Iran’s FM is going to Oman and Russia right now to discuss the current situation.

>Iranian state media said that Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, will return to Islamabad after his visit to Oman. He will be joined in Pakistan on Sunday by other members of the Iranian delegation, who have traveled back to Tehran from Islamabad for further consultations on “ending the war.” It wasn’t clear from state media what the purpose of Araghchi’s return to Pakistan was since Trump recently called off a planned visit there by his two top negotiators.

The people being sent to negotiate are from whatever is left of the Iranian government.
The people blockading the straits are the IRGC and they have no wish to negotiate with trump after he bombed the leader during the first round of talks.
These two power blocks within Iran do not agree on how to move forward and trump does not agree with himself within his own sentences.
The 'negotiations' are a joke.

Failure implies they ever had a chance of success. With the list of demands on either side and the presence of Kushner, these talks were just an attempt to pump the market.

There was a ceasefire since November 2024, but...
"**Key Violations and Incidents (2025–2026)**
* **Persistent Israeli Strikes:** The UN recorded over 10,000 Israeli air and ground violations since November 2024.
* **Daily Breaches in 2025:** The Lebanese government reported 2,036 Israeli violations in the last quarter of 2025 alone.
* **2026 Escalation:** Airstrikes in April 2026 destroyed infrastructure, including bridges (e.g., Qasmiyeh Bridge) and residential areas, often framed by Israel as creating a "Yellow Line" buffer zone.
* **Targeting Infrastructure:** Reports indicate targeted attacks on water infrastructure to force displacement in southern Lebanon."
And then Israel invaded Lebanon. Israel's understanding of a ceasefire is that it applies only to the other party, you really think now all of a sudden they will change their tune?

This is complete bullshit.
The November 2024 ceasefire required Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah in South Lebanon, prevent its rearmament, and stop all Hezbollah operations against Israel. It did not do so. Israel had ever right to act against Hezbollah given the Lebanese government’s failure to live up to its agreement.
The UN agency that accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire “10,000 times” in 2025 (a number that should make anyone with critical thinking skills skeptical) is the same one that ignored Hezbollah’s armament for 17 years.
It’s funny that you refer to vaguely to a “2026 escalation” and skip straight to April, ignoring the fact that it was Hezbollah that fired rockets at Israel in **March** in response to Israel killing Khamenei.
This is just another example of Hezbollah starting the fighting and pretending to be a victim when they lose.

More specifically, in an emergency session on 2 March the legitimate government of Lebanon declared a ban on all military actions by Hezbollah and demanded they disarm and the legitimate military forces have been instructed to arrest Hezbollah operatives engaged in cross-border attacks. Then a group of former presidents and prime ministers condemned Hezbollah for dragging Lebanon into the Israel-Iran war at all, and Syria and France are backing Lebanese demands that Hezbollah disarm. Anyone distorting facts to defend these assholes just because they hate Israel is pathetic and tedious.

Reuters are known for being as close to a completely impartial news source as you can get. A headline like what you have there is fairly leading and not in line with what Reuters generally put out.
You have to keep in mind that saying things like "Israel retaliates" are, at the end of the day, subjective statements and Reuters has a journalistic responsibility to be as objective as possible. The headline used makes no inferences about what Israel's motivations are and presents it exactly as Israel are saying it with no fluff attached
Edit: Is anyone downvoting me going to explain what was wrong about my above statement?

SuperNobody917Apr 25, 2026

I don't know what happened to your other comment, but have you considered that instead of the normally completely objective and unbiased newspaper making a random exception for just one topic, that you yourself might be personally biased on this topic?

Jew haters are just annoyed with Israel because now Jews can defend themselves. No more pogroms with zero consequences...
All the blood libel and evil lies are not new either. Same old smears...

No one ever says "don't Muslims know that for every Jew they kill, they radicalize 10?" But for some reason, every time a literal terrorist is killed, suddenly the racism of low expectations makes its appearance.

The six day war was an impressive win by Israel, but that’s nearly 60 years ago. Let’s be honest here. Israel relies on the enormous military aid they receive from the US.
-16
roguemenaceApr 26, 2026

The military aid they receive is 1-2% of the Israeli budget. Removing it wouldn't have much effect other than removing US input on how Israel carries out it's military actions.
