For anyone out of the loop: Israel reportedly sent air-defense systems (Iron Dome) and personnel to operate them to the UAE. The two nations largely normalized relations (military, intelligence, political, etc) in 2020 after the signing of the Abraham Accords. Yes, the UAE still hates Israel and funds groups like Hamas to oppose it….But they also hate Iran and will use Israeli/western support to oppose them…It’s a perpetual cycle.

The UAE doesn’t fund Hamas, and has actually been vehemently anti-Muslim-Brotherhood for awhile. They have contributed a lot to humanitarian aid in Gaza, some of which does inevitably end up being diverted to/appropriated by Hamas, though. Maybe you’re thinking of Qatar, which does fund Hamas (and hosts/shelters its leadership) and overall plays both sides of the coin quite frequently. The UAE government is pretty much the most pro-Israel in the Middle East and was one of the first/key signatory countries of the Abraham Accords; the opinions of the general population are probably more varied, but as far as actual policy goes, the UAE is pretty much Israel’s regional bestie.

I really don’t buy the idea that the UAE is happily teaming up with Israel to **oppose** Iran. Sure, Abu Dhabi can’t stand Tehran — but what it hates even more is an endless war that nukes trade, investment, and tourism. If this drags on, it doesn’t just hurt Iran or Israel, it torpedoes the very regional stability the UAE’s entire business model depends on. And let’s be honest: betting your future on Netanyahu has never ended well for anyone in the long run. You hearing this, Trump?

> And let’s be honest: betting your future on Netanyahu has never ended well for anyone in the long run. It's really likely none of these actors will have to deal with Netanyahu in about 5 months. As for Trump, it is very interesting how Americans view Trump as being too influenced by Netanyahu, whereas the Israelis would argue that Trump has consistently forced Netanyahu into ceasefires (Gaza, Iran, Lebanon) and that Netanyahu can do nothing against serious American pressure. Anyway, what's even worse for the UAE is for Iran to semi-permanently get in a better strategic position in terms of control of the Strait. Hence, it has been pushing the US to see out this war instead of signing a worse ceasefire.

Can someone explain this new narrative that has been going around? UAE got shot at during Irans indiscriminate "so I started blasting" moment. No one in the region like Iran because they keep operating/funding separatists in their borders kind of following the unfriendly power playbook of maintaining instability in your neighbors. Why is everyone acting like responding in kind is something weird. I get that accepting weapons from a kind of enemy who is running an apartheid regime to fight their other actual clear and present enemy who is also running and apartheid regime can sound weird but there is a reason that it's an ancient proverb that's stood the test of time.

The memo is to demand Israel's dissolution so they can persecute jews more easily. Almost every country in the middle east has an apartheid like system right now and have for generations, look at how turkey treats the kurds. This is about defeating their biblical enemies, not political strategy

“The beatings will stop once you help us kill all the Jews” is Iran’s intent. However a more sane person will read it as “the beatings will stop if you bend the knee to our authority and nominate the bully of the ME as your leader.” To which the UAE and most of the ME is thinking “f*** no”. Israel on the other hand says “that guy is beating you, and I’m trying to kill him. Wanna retain your sovereignty by helping us kill him?” Israel offers a partnership where Iran demands capitulation.

Israel is not an apartheid regime. It's not even a regime, it's a liberal democracy. Arab nations, on the other hand, are literally all apartheid regimes that discriminate against non-Muslims, women and LGBTQ people.

Because they want c**** gas and don't like Trump. He doesn't really seem to have a plan and kind of fucked up the world economy, so they've been glazing Iran because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Even though Iran's proxies started this whole mess they would rather Israel fight alone or better yet not at all and Iranians stay subjugated under the IRGC and keep the rest of the world out of it than have gas get higher and everything get more expensive with the Strait of Hormuz blocked.
