Reading the news these days, I feel like Israel’s government and military find new ways to become more absurdly evil every day, all the while insisting that their cause is morally just because their opponents are “bad guys”. The hypocrisy makes it even worse.

I used to be a very solid supporter of both the US and Israel, at times to the detriment of my social standing in left-leaning circles in Sweden. Although I maintain that my opinions were then well-founded, it is difficult to in any way support their current actions. In particular Israel’s action look like the may lead to long-term incompatibility with any reasonable opinion, in that further and expanded unlawful occupation of territory is unlikely to cease. Once settlers have moved in, it seems unlikely they will move out even with a change to sane leadership in Israel. Once Trump is gone and if the US reforms, they appear to have less persisting problems.
