It's 2 am in Poland and I'm still wide awake. Happy to chat and how was everyone's weekend

Posted by ElectronicAct2686

I just finished watching a movie "crazy s*** love" and now I'm still awake. While I try to manage getting some sleep - how was everyone's weekend and what time is it there for you? Happy to chat and see where it goes :)

Sorry to hear that. I hope you find something good soon. The job market is really tough right now! It's pretty cool that you are doing stuff for fun. It's nice to have a challenge and something to look forward to

I was unemployed before, my sleep schedule would go whack. Sleeping at 8am and waking up at 3pm. I don't miss those days but sometimes I just want to experience that fleeting carefree times again.

Is stupid a bad word?
3
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +7
I actually got a kind of auto alert from the sub saying that I've added "stupid" and to avoid complaining in the post..

The_Mountaineer_ Mar 30, 2026 +1
I wondered that too. Maybe in Poland?

Go to bed! The sun rises soon and you don't want to be grumpy on a Monday. 😊
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
I think it's too late for that. I'm already tired and mad hehe
2
brainfreez012 Mar 30, 2026 +1
How was the movie? Why mad?
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
I've watched the movie when it came out. Mad because I'm still awake and I don't feel prepared enough for work tomorrow

I visited Poland and had strawberry pasta dish - how popular would you say this dish is?
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
I don't think it's something people have frequently but it's definitely getting a lot of attention in media

Hi! Weekend was good, it's almost 9PM where I'm at. Have an early morning tomorrow, so just chillin on this sub as I wind down. How was your weekend besides full of Steve Carell?
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Nice to hear. You seem comfortable :) My weekend involved lots of cooking and delicious food. I also went to the gym today and tried a new class which was a combination of pilates, yoga and ballet?? It was interesting :D slow movements and core balance.
2
The_Mountaineer_ Mar 30, 2026 +1
Interesting. Kinda like a mix btw Tai Chi and yoga, it sounds like. And, ofc, what weekend would be complete without delicious food? That sounds great.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Yeah, I might go again! 😸 How's your weekend been
1
The_Mountaineer_ Mar 30, 2026 +2
Pretty chill, all things considered. I always try to go on a mountain hike/climb whenever I'm free and the weather is ideal. So I went up to the mountains both days, got some writing done for a new screenplay I'm working on, met some friends at a micro brewery after my hike today- got to try something called "alpine beer" (have no idea what is was, but it wasn't bad)
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Sounds lovely <3

12pm in Australia. I also suffered from insomnia last night, only slept from 5 to 9 I think. Spent some time researching into European cuisine (I rarely have them normally), and decided to have French duck confit instead of steak or Italian seafood for my birthday dinner later this week (never had any French dish before, coq au vin looks like another good choice).

OCThrowAway_7498 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Is that the rom com with Steve Carrell?
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Yes. I just wanted to watch something while I try to sleep
1
OCThrowAway_7498 Mar 30, 2026 +2
I’m the same way. It’s 5:47pm here, but I anticipate doing that before bed tonight.
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Let me know if you want some good-brain-rot-put-me-to-sleep-weak-action movies lol
2
OCThrowAway_7498 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Let’s see some recommendations lol
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
The old guard part 1 & 2 lol :p
2
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
I realize it's really hard to remember all the sucky movies lol. The one I've suggested, I watched it this weekend

Home on medical leave. I have finished the internet, Netflix, and every book in this house. I have moved on to jigsaw puzzles 😀
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Awh haha your comment is funny. I like puzzles and I had a phase where I played them online. I've never actually played a proper grown up jigsaw puzzle offline lol Is there something that you'd recommend on Netflix ;)
2
ells9824 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Depends on what you like! I didn’t care for some of the newer things. Comfort shows that I will watch over and over: Arrested Development and Lucifer.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Arrested development is a good one! I didn't know it was on Netflix thanks!

Where in Poland? I visited last summer and lived it! Friendly people.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Wroclaw
2
GorgeousUnknown Mar 30, 2026 +1
Didn’t make it there…just Krakow, Warsaw and Gdansk.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Those are the most popular places for travel/tourism and for good reason. There isn't a lot different to see in Wroclaw. I just think of it as a smaller version of Krakow :)

What's a local delicacy specific to your city or region?
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Nice. Happy to hear

Saw Drunken Shakespeare show. It was pretty fun. Try and get some sleep.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Just the title sounds fun. I'll add it to my list ;)

Birch_mom72 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Where in Poland? Have you lived there your whole life? Do you live alone? Happy with your life?

parkerhalem84 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Hi, it's currently 11am here and I did some volunteer work on the weekend. I am a member of the Polish club called Polonia in my local capital city. It is a 2.5 hour drive to get there. I go to their market days sometime and have some great food there. I love Flaczki, Golabki, Bigos, Ogormowa....
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Oh nice! What are your plans for the rest of the day
2
parkerhalem84 Mar 30, 2026 +1
I am retired and it is a struggle to find relevant things to do which does not cost too much... hence Redit.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Ah nice! Good to do something that benefits society, I think that's really amazing
2
parkerhalem84 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Thanks, it benefits me as well as I need to have activities to keep my brain active and engaged. I volunteer at a steam train group by providing ICT support and manning their service desk to sell tickets. They were kind enough to cover my travel costs. I have an interest with old tech like steam trains and is happy to help that group.

20:14 (8:14 pm) central time in USA. Insomnia sucks. Weekend is going pretty well. We bought an old RV and gutted it, and have been remodeling it over the past year. Today we hung curtains. It means we’ve made it a long way. So I’m feeling pretty good about that. Oh, AND our 41st Anniversary is tomorrow! Steak and lobster are on the menu. Plus champagne, of course.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +2
Supercool! That sounds like a lot of time and effort! And best wishes in advance ;) I hope that you have nice and cozy trips!
2
AWTNM1112 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Thanks!

Thats a fun movie. Was it your first time seeing it? I feel like romcoms are making a comeback. Also had visited Poland for the first time a few weeks ago. Had pierogis for the first time, which was awesome. Also surprised at how warm it was while I was there. It’s 9:37PM rn, tonight I’ll go an evening walk and then binge some show about vampires till I get sleepy.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
No, I watched it when it came out. I wanted to just watch something familiar lol That's nice to hear. It was a really nice and sunny start to the spring. But it's cold and rainy this week so it was good timing for you! Sounds cozy :)
1
chilldotexe Mar 30, 2026 +1
Yeah, these days I find myself going back to familiar stuff more and more. I gotta force myself to consume current stuff once in a while otherwise I end up like my dad who only watches black n white movies about cowboys lol Yeah, I do feel lucky, I really, really enjoyed my visit. I think next time I’d like to be more prepared and learn more of the language so I could meet more people. I was in Krakow and Zakopane. Any recommendations for where to go next time? Honestly, I had a pretty lazy day so it’s sort of just me trying to get all my steps in before the end of the night haha

Weekend was difficult but it is 10 pm and I'm hanging out with my fluffy cats.

Wonderful. Little stressbusters

4am in Norway now, laying in bed watching Black Mirror. My weekend has been very uneventful, and I've been feeling kind of low to be honest, but eh. How have you been?
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Nice to see someone in the same time zone :) I'm sorry to hear that.. I'm feeling the Monday blues and feel free to come in DMs
1
LicoriceSeasalt Mar 30, 2026 +1
Thank you, appreciate it. You're up late too I see? I have never been to Poland, but a fun fact is that my favorite singer is Polish. Do you have any connection to Norway at all? Just curious, small world.
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Is it death or black metal? :p I'm not white (not Polish) so I don't think I could have any roots in Norway hehe!
1
LicoriceSeasalt Mar 30, 2026 +1
It's not, it's just an indie singer-songwriter. Ah, wasn't strictly thinking about ancestry, rather if you had listened to any music from Norway, seen a movie, got a friend from here, dunno, just a lame attempt at conversation at 4am lol
1
ElectronicAct2686 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Would you mind sharing the artist :) Awh no, not really. As I'm typing, I realize I haven't come across or consumed any media from Norway (at least that I know of). I've probably just read about the housing crisis in Oslo, and ah there was YouTuber who showed life in Norway - pretty common to have Teslas, snows a lot, high trust society ( I think i remember seeing veggies being sold with no actual seller to handle the payment), and apparently it's really expensive to eat at a restaurant ;)
1
LicoriceSeasalt Mar 30, 2026 +1
His name is Jan Rozmanowski (artist name "Jann"), mostly makes calm songs :) Oh, you do know a few things then, cool cool :) what kind of things interest you in general? You into gaming, movies, hiking, or something else interesting? Maybe you're into metal music as you asked about it? I do like some metal type music too (nothing from Poland that I'm aware of though).

i’m currently just reading a book. It’s a little late for me, but I woke up extremely late today.

If you’re trying to fall asleep try cognitive shuffling! Basically pick any letter and start thinking of random words/names that start with that letter, the more random and unrelated the better. So like if I chose P: pierogi, pants, pontoon, park, penguin, pajamas… and so on until 😴💤 Apparently it tricks your brain into doing what it normally does to prepare for sleep on its own (scattering your thoughts) and I swear it works better than anything I’ve ever tried before.

What do you do for work?
1
mynameisnotsparta Mar 30, 2026 +1
Falling asleep here on the west coast. How’s the weather there for you? We had a hot week but it’s cooling off at the moment.

It’s 07:15 am here (I am in Italy), I am recovering from a knee injury and I have been working on my game development projects, and I would love to move to Poland to work at CDProjekt Red hehe :D

Any tips for falling asleep? I exercise, take melatonin, and feel sleepy but I just wont fall asleep.
1

Hope you're asleep by now

I must have over drained coffee today, can’t sleep either. I’m in Canada. Whether starting to be springlike. Hope it brings hope and peace soon.
