Reading the article, we're literally building a second, segregated road parallel to the original. The level of waste involved with this decision is nuts.

So the road is in the United States, is used by both Americans and Canadians, and.... Canada.... maintains the road. Plows it, grades it, keeps it open. Canadian equipment crosses the border to keep an American road open. What horrible neighbors those Canadians are, using their own money to keep American roads clear. /s
Now, there will be a Canadian road, just on the other side of a shallow ditch that a Toyota Corolla could cross without getting stuck, that the Canadians will maintain for their own use, and the American road either goes unmaintained, or costs the US extra tax dollars to maintain.
Great outcome. Just a great outcome. /s

As a Canadian, I'll say this is a good outcome for us. We need to decouple our two countries and maintaining infrastructure in the US is idiotic at this point. Sooner or later, the US-Canada border will no longer be the longest undefended border in the world as US imperialism seeks to violate our sovereignty.
There will be no "great outcomes" anymore, all we, Canada, can strive for in the future is acceptable outcomes.

8

Yes, although the Gordie Howe bridge has benefits for the city of Windsor as urban planning wise.
Investing so much on the bridge without any reciprocity was probably a bad decision, but it was made a long time ago. Hopefully, we won’t make similar decisions in the future.

I am American by birth. I am neutral about that fact, as we all can’t choose where we’re from.
I’ve never voted for a single Republican candidate in my life because I felt they were always wanting to take America in the directions we’re headed now. I am surprised at how broad they’re incredibly (bad, reckless, cruel, all of the above?) policies were. It seems they’re attacking things I never thought we’re under dispute (science? Education? Facts?).
I imagine the world feels hurt, scared, and deeply disappointed in this country. I feel that way about the millions of voters who made this possible and (even worse) still actively support this nightmare. I cannot apologize for people who created this. I don’t their apologies will ever be enough, because there’s so much that an apology can never fix.
But, I hope the world know that there are many Americans like me who deeply value our allies, our neighbors and our fellow world citizens. We are in this as much as you and we have no idea where things will land. We’re just hoping to survive.

His best talent was conning people and he really doesn’t have that anymore.
He never wanted the presidency, we wanted to lose in 2016 so he could rant and rave about election theft and start his own media company. It’s why he was relatively harmless in his first term compared to now.
Heritage Foundation and all the dark billionaires who’ve been angry since the New Deal in the 1930’s had four extra years to really plan project 2025 and put Trump under their thumb.

Trump doesn't believe in "allies", and he sees doing something that benefits anyone else as a sign of weakness. Therefore any mutual benefit action, Trump won't do or let the US do for Canada, and anything Canada does Trump takes as a weakness and tries to force them to do more.
Just stupidity after stupidity.
