It seems Channing Tatum was most relevant recently when we finally got to see him portray gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine. Which makes sense, he was fantastic in that, and I’m sure he’ll continue that into the new avengers doomsday movie coming out this year.
But I must say, I’ve been pretty impressed by him overall the past few years. His movies Dog, Roofman, Blink Twice, the last Magic Mike movie, etc were all really entertaining and he did a great job in his respective roles. And overall I just appreciated how they all seemed to offer an experience worth seeking out in a movie theater.
Obviously he’s a very handsome man but beyond that I’m finding myself really liking his work and he clearly has talent. I hope he continues starring in different types of projects.
What do you all think? Do you agree?
I’d watch every single sequel they showed at the end of 22 jump street

I remember when that first came out, people were so against that idea and thinking how dumb it would be, but the more you though about it, the more you realize that dumb idea would have been entertaining.

He was great in Foxcatcher which came out in 2014. Supposedly, he was great in a film of his called Josephine that premiered at Sundance. I loved Roofman too.

Foxcatcher was a great movie. He and Mark Ruffalo did a great job as the Schultz brothers, especially Ruffalo. He even got the little things right like walking around with T-rex arms and elbows tight to the body, just out of habit. Of course, Carell was incredible as du Pont. Comedians always seem to do a great job playing crazy in dramas.

Honestly that was a top 5 movie for me last year. Like I’m not saying it was comparable to the Oscar nominated movies for best picture recently, like sinners or Marty supreme, but in terms of my favorites to watch, roofman is up there.

This has to just be a troll comment, right? Like what is the point of being in this thread and telling me you thought his movie was “so bad” and offering no explanation beyond that, lmao.
3
Floasis72Mar 22, 2026
-7
Not a troll. Just giving an opinion on a disappointing movie.
Are my other adjectives not sufficient for you? Its not a deep movie so why offer in depth analysis? of a movie that couldn’t keep my attention, and was not acted well?
If you dont want strangers to give you their movie opinions then maybe stay away from a public forum about movies… lol
-7
capamericapistonsMar 22, 2026
+3
You’re not really giving an opinion though. You’re just saying it’s bad. You offered no explanation as to why. And the reasons you’re giving now make no sense. When did I say you should give an “in depth analysis”? You could simply state what made the movie so bad for you when clearly a lot of us really enjoyed it, including Channing tatums performance and the acting overall.
You’re literally offering no perspective or thoughts here, just…. Trolling. Like wtf.?
3
Floasis72Mar 22, 2026
-9
You indicated you wanted in depth analysis when surface level adjectives like boring and mediocre somehow left you confused.
So then I said the movie was not acted well. I mentioned it couldnt keep my attention, aka pacing and a little bit of poor writing.
All of the above are both thoughts and perspective. Not sure how you dont see that other than just getting defensive about a movie you like
To explain more than that would be more in depth analysis than a movie as mid as this deserves.
Have a nice day

I think either he has very good people advising him or that he knows his strengths and limitations, what he can do. But he gets really good roles that he can work with and make his own. I think he is growing as actor as well, in big way.
A big reason (IMO) for all of the above is that he is willing to listen to advice. I saw some interviews years ago about how much some people liked working with him and that he is very hard working, this is coming from directors and co stars. It stayed with me.

I genuinely don’t know, has he said much of anything about politics? Seems like a guy who just doesn’t offer a perspective in that area.
I consider myself a left leaning dude, a democratic socialist, and I think it’s notable when someone uses their platform to advocate for those types of issues, but if they don’t feel knowledgeable enough to say something, I don’t know if I’d really fault them. That could be my privilege speaking, but that’s just how I feel.

Tbh. I'm heavily torn on him. Overall? Not a fan. He ruined hateful 8 for me. Just completley outclassed by the cast and it took me right out of the movie. He was out acted by Gina Carano in Haywire.
Hes very solid w comedies.
That being said, he's GOATed for making Comrade Detective. He VO work was great and he produced the show as well. It is probably one of my favorite shows of all time.
