If she hosted this week, it would be be roughly 36 years after the release of unrelated Belgian techno anthem '[Pump Up the Jam](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EcjWd-O4jI&list=RD9EcjWd-O4jI&start_radio=1)'

I mean, they are probably available as a musical guest.

Wbran Mar 31, 2026 +17
Diane Morgan would be fantastic!

kinisonkhan Mar 31, 2026 +103
As an American who grew up watching a lot of ~~BBC~~ British shows. I would love to see Richard Ayoade (IT Crowd) or Diane Morgan (Philomea Cunk) host a future episode.

Dolph1738 Mar 31, 2026 +20
IT Crowd was Channel 4!

As an American that doesn't mean anything to us, it's all the BBC.

Phantom-Finger Apr 1, 2026 +9
Hopefully you've checked out Last One Laughing UK. Richard was in the first season and Dianne is in the second, currently streaming.

Jack Whitehall is proof that posh kids get to have a successful career in whatever they choose, regardless of lack of talent.

chrissyD_ Mar 31, 2026 +77
I'm not a fan of his standup, and I've not seen many of his shows. But I love his performance in Fresh Meat. He was perfectly cast for that role. With the help of the genius character writing of Armstrong and Bain, he really shone imo.
77
spaceporter Mar 31, 2026 +36
I like him in Bad Education as well. I don't know if he did any of the writing for either, but if he did he deserves kudos.
36
tch134 Mar 31, 2026 +20
You mean where he played a posh kid who relied on his families connections? funny that.
20
ThanksContent28 Mar 31, 2026 +105
His dad is a talent agent who’s worked for some really big celebrities. Whitehall is the definition of a talentless nepo baby.
105
comeatmefrank Mar 31, 2026 +80
His ‘look at me im posh but kind of camp’ stick is f****** annoying. He’s a terrible actor, a really shit comedian, and has a f****** terrible haircut. The only reason he’s still around is because he makes inoffensive, bland middle aged mum comedy.
80
RaeOfSunshine1257 Mar 31, 2026 +30
I find it very satisfying that Jack Whitehall used to shit on Robert Pattinson in his stand up specials all the time, calling him a terrible actor. And now Robert Pattinson is basically an A-lister while Jack is still in the same spot.
30
jaguarsharks Mar 31, 2026 +17
Weird because Pattinson has always been a top class actor, he just took a bad role in a franchise that he made no secret of hating more than anyone.
17
Xecutioner Apr 1, 2026 +1
And arguably, that bad role set him up for life allowing him to pursue his passion however he chooses.
1
TheLittleGinge Mar 31, 2026 +15
The fact that his best role is playing a pompous, ignorant, irritating, immature, rich boy speaks volumes.
15
jamesick Mar 31, 2026 +47
i don't like jack whitehall much as a person or a comedian, but he's far from talentless. even being a subpar actor/comedian is talent to a degree. if he was totally shit we'd know it.
47
ThanksContent28 Mar 31, 2026 +4
It is known.
4
yesverycivil Mar 31, 2026 +3
Sure he got to date Gemma Chan and Kate beckinsdale as well. It's a big club....
3
SynthD Mar 31, 2026 +1
His Brit and f1 show hosting is great.
1
dewittless Mar 31, 2026 +77
I surprised he took the gig. He's usually off to Saudi Arabia to find his audience these days. Although I suppose it's in the middle of easter, so that's close enough.
77
Lord_Parbr Mar 31, 2026 +40
Oh, that’s why people turned on him. Deserved in that case
40
OxWithABox Mar 31, 2026 +25
Nah, the internet's hated him for years. The Saudi gig just intensified that hate.
25
pie-oh Mar 31, 2026 +16
I think he's very divisive in general. Not in his material - to be honest, that would possibly make him more interesting. He's just the most bland comedian to have come out of the UK. He must have fans, but I've honestly never met one in my 40 years on this earth.
16
ampmz Mar 31, 2026 +11
Hey now, Michael McIntyre is at least as bland as Whitehall.
11
nibblatron Mar 31, 2026 +6
michael mcintyre is a muppet. i saw him around london during summer dressed like he was out the matrix. then i saw him in selfridge's cartier store talking loud af asking for free watches🙄 but acting offended when people looked at him.
6
pie-oh Mar 31, 2026 +1
The new Sophie's Choice - If I have to choose one, McIntyre or Whitehall.
1
GenGaara25 Mar 31, 2026 +5
The UKs hated him for a while, on a similar train to Corden. He comes off as feeling entitled to a bigger level of success than he had. Like he deserved a Hollywood break and British TV was somehow below him. Which, considering his already nepo baby status, really fucked people off. I remain to say if he had just stuck to the British comedy scene he would still have a reasonable reputation. But leveraging his nepo status to try and ***force*** a Hollywood breakthrough is painful.
5
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 31, 2026 +6
And with wealth disparity being what it is these days, I feel it's perfectly reasonable to harbor a deep dislike for nepo babies.
6
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 31, 2026 +2
I'd argue people disliked Whitehall for a long time since he's a very unapologetic nepo baby with zero humility. And with wealth disparity being what it is these days, I'm just going to get ahead of the arguments here: it's perfectly reasonable to dislike people who attained positions of extreme wealth purely because their parents gave it to them.

sharkmana Apr 1, 2026
You should host. F****** good one
0
SiibillamLaw Mar 31, 2026 +34
Oh. It was good while it lasted
34
TraizHill Mar 31, 2026 +9
I'll only tune in when Jorja sings, otherwise can anyone list the sketches without the host?
9
SynthD Mar 31, 2026 +2
She’s phenomenal, hope this is good exposure.
2
CarpenterAndSuch Mar 31, 2026 +35
This man is the reason why I only made it 40 seconds into the new Burbs series. In fairness he’s good at playing posh wankers like JP in Fresh Meat but everything else I’ve seen him in, he’s been awful.
35
Smyth_With_A_Y Mar 31, 2026 +27
Playing a posh wanker isn't exactly acting for him though.
27
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 31, 2026 +5
Yeah when I found out he was a peak silver spoon nepo baby, much of his career made a lot more sense to me.
5
JuzoItami Mar 31, 2026 +10
I enjoyed *The Burbs*, although I thought the real mystery of the show should have been “why would Keke Palmer marry *that guy*?”
10
xbleeple Mar 31, 2026 +1
Really the only question I had
1
Sea_Awareness150 Mar 31, 2026 +61
My goodness he is not a funny person
61
2nd2last Mar 31, 2026 +19
I've never really seen stuff he does or is in, but thought he was pretty popular. Is he a hack?
19
DomBomm Mar 31, 2026 +24
He’s a pretty safe option in terms of UK comedians, and may draw in audiences unfamiliar with the SNL format.
24
frn Mar 31, 2026 +1
In the right role (where he's basically playing himself) he's pretty good. He did an amazing job in [Fresh Meat](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2058303/).
1
Sea_Awareness150 Mar 31, 2026 +5
Just an unfunny posh boy. One of those that certain people lap up but if you compare him to really anyone else he’s dross
5
ThanksContent28 Mar 31, 2026 -3
100% spot on.

Separate_Job_3573 Mar 31, 2026
Comedian for people who don't have an interest in comedy
0
angrytortilla Mar 31, 2026 +8
His travel show with his dad is painfully scripted as well. Couldn't even get through a single episode.
8
IrrelevantLeprechaun Mar 31, 2026 +3
I've seen it, and while it started off well enough, it quickly devolved into "rich white men going places they really should be in, purely because white privilege and money."
3
Razzler1973 Mar 31, 2026 +4
I'm a Brit but live outside the UK and have been exposed to Whitehall here and there I don't find him remotely funny I saw him in a mini series and he's also not a great actor either
4
Sea_Awareness150 Mar 31, 2026 -1
Agreed. It’s a mystery

I was surprised at how solid the first ep was. I'll keep watching. They're a good cast.
3
Unstupid Mar 31, 2026 +3
Wait a second...... There is a SNL U.K.? How have I never seen anything from it?
3
Pabasa Mar 31, 2026 +4
It's new. The past weekend was only it's second episode. But clips of the show has been making its rounds on social media like Tiktok and Instagram. The first episode was hosted by Tina Fey and her monologue is on circulation.
4
SteveBorden Mar 31, 2026 +7
It’s been decent so far and contrary to popular belief he’s actually done some funny stuff, with a genuinely great performance in fresh meat. Never seen him do sketch comedy before though, so that’ll be interesting.
7
GetsBetterAfterAFew Mar 31, 2026 +8
Read this as Jack White and got really excited then crashed when the brain figured it out it was Whitehall, which is prolly a more funny sentance than Whitehall ever spoke, but anyway.
8
DavidKirk2000 Mar 31, 2026 +8
Jack White is the musical guest of the upcoming Jack Black episode on the American version, so all is not lost.
8
Vengeance9149 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Similarly I read Jack White and Gojira
3
TopShelfFlower55420 Mar 31, 2026 +2
What a great musical choice. The sirens in her "Blue Lights" song would always my former roommate paranoid, which only made me play it even more. I may have to check out the rest of her repertoire.
2
tmoney144 Apr 1, 2026 +1
On My Mind is a good one.

Snl UK is going to kill the original. Maybe it should. But did anyone notice how amazing the show flows together when they don't cut to commercial after every single skit (plus a fake out where they pretend to come back to the show just to shove another ad in). The pacing was such a breath of relief. Americans #1 reason they stopped watching these "traditional" channels is the over the top ads and the way it turns every show like this into a fever dream of something sort of funny and then people are dancing the Charleston bc they got a rx for c*****.
2
joeschmoagogo Mar 31, 2026 +4
Annnnnddddd... It's officially shit.

PistachioDonut34 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Oh cool, I think he'll do great on SNL

They should reunite some old British double acts like Fry and Laurie

Man, I genuinely didn't know he was so hated, I enjoy his comedy.

-37
xgekikara Mar 31, 2026 +11
it looks like you didn't see the UK part of "SNL U.K"
11
sheslikebutter Mar 31, 2026 +7
He's been doing stand-up and has been on the panel show circuit for well over a decade, it's actually mental not to know who he is if youve so much as walked past a television since 2010. The musical guest, yeah, old people wont know
7
ComputerDecent463 Mar 31, 2026 +10
He’s been around for awhile as a very overrated standup, and an actor. Fresh Meat is a really good college age dramedy that I would recommend. Also features the great Charlotte Ritchie. He currently stars in a murder mystery show The Burbs on Peacock with Keke Palmer. Jorja Smith is a solid singer. She was in the news a few years ago for a weight gain which I think made her look hotter, but what do I know?
10
tmoney144 Apr 1, 2026 +2
If you haven't seen it yet, check out the music video for the Little Thing remix with Nia Archives. It's very, uh... educational.
2
ComputerDecent463 Apr 1, 2026 +1
My dyslexia made me think you said something about Little Mix at first which would have been a great collaboration, but I’ll check this out.
1
Zerohood Mar 31, 2026
Come on, Jorja Smith maybe but you must either be 95 years old or living under a rock to not know or even heard of Jack Whitehall

I think they are Temu versions of American celebrities that we're too old to know
