>The plaintiffs are asking the court to declare that the Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police used unlawful force and to award compensatory damages and legal costs. I just don't even know what to say anymore.

F*** the insurrectionists

They are just paying each other out with taxpayers money while Bondi and Bessent are administering the Cheeto-PEDO government funded rewards program.

Just wait until we learn about all the payouts they have done without going through the courts for settlements.

Napoleon gave a bunch of rioters a 'whiff of grapeahot' when he was the only general in paris and the directory was under threat
75
SpartiateDienekes Mar 30, 2026 +17
“Hey, wait a minute. You can’t overthrow the Directory! That’s my thing!” Yes, I know that was years later, and he could have had a change in motivation by then.

The consequence of treason, is death. Not embarrassment
234
Charlie_Mouse Mar 30, 2026 +66
Ah, but treason doth never prosper … because if it does then none dare call it treason. Which is pretty much where the US appears to be right now.

StevieMJH Mar 30, 2026 +22
Somehow never heard that quote before but it so succinctly explains our exact situation. I hope my favorite latin quote doesn't keep coming into play, "Inter arma enim silent leges." In times of war, the law falls silent.
22
jchasse Mar 30, 2026 +7
My favorite Latin quote also seems to be timely Calamus meus magnus est, calamus tuus parvus est. My pen is large your pen is small

Tbh, tar and feather is usually a slow death from infection IIRC

If they didn't die from the sheer pain, first.

Tar and feather is a form of torture, not like what they showed in cartoons.
7
woodboarder616 Mar 30, 2026 +7
Oh right you’re being burned 3rd degree with hot tar I forgot
7
Honey-and-Venom Mar 30, 2026 +23
It can absolutely kill and disfigure someone. It was HOT tar. It was NOT just humiliating. It was insult AND injury and opening up that much skin to blistering burns before antibiotics was diabolical
23
SardonicWhit Mar 30, 2026 +13
Yeah tar isn’t even able to be poured unless it’s hot. People think they were applying little gobs with sticks or something? 😂

I would argue they did not use enough force.
748
ked_man Mar 30, 2026 +297
I’m still shocked they only shot one person. I watched it live on TV expecting a bloodbath.
297
TheSixthVisitor Mar 30, 2026 +182
And even that one person that was shot, they showed an incredible amount of restraint given the situation. Nobody would've questioned it if those officers unloaded into a literal rampaging mob because they felt like they were in danger, because they actually were that day.
182
crozzy89 Mar 30, 2026 +120
That was insane. I was sitting there watching it live as well and was just waiting for it to turn.. and then nothing happened. The fact that there are so many people that wanted to just brush it under the rug is astonishing.
120
LordHammercyWeCooked Mar 30, 2026 +19
It's honestly not surprising that they wanted to brush it under the rug. What's upsetting is whenever somebody gives them the benefit of the doubt because they're afraid of the political blowback. God damn fence sitting centrist democrats. You're never gonna win them over, why do you care what they think? Prosecute them!
19
Aureliamnissan Mar 30, 2026 +56
I’ve said for years that if it were anything other than the MAGA mob, like say a BLM mob, they would have had gunships circling.
56
xclame Mar 30, 2026 +23
Any other group would have never made it inside the building, hell they might not even have made it past the barricades.
23
theLULRUS Mar 30, 2026 +75
I also watched it live, dreading the moment it turned in to a bloodbath. It didn't, but I wish it had. And I wish they had swiftly tried, convicted, and punished Trump to the fullest extent for treason. To show our country and the world what happens when you f*** with our democratic process. Nope, they rolled over and showed everyone that America has no backbone. Today there are no consequences for anyone involved in that insurrection. It's disgusting.
75
Hot-Exam3187 Mar 30, 2026 +46
> Today there are no consequences for anyone involved in that insurrection. worse. they were rewarded for their loyalty to their supreme leader. it boggles the mind that Trump ever made it that far, let alone how far it's gone since. the insurrectionists didn't just face zero consequences, they won. they are in control now.
46
theLULRUS Mar 30, 2026 +13
True. They faced no negative consequences, only positive. Trump should have been hanged from a short rope and the rest should have been imprisoned for the rest of their pointless lives.
13
SpaceKook6 Mar 30, 2026 +5
Before that day, I would have assumed that if you did something like that - forcing your way into the Capitol while congress was in session - that you would have been gunned down. I felt insane watching live as people were allowed to sheepishly file out of the building at the end of all that.
5
Son_Of_Toucan_Sam Mar 30, 2026 +217
A reasonable country would have given an armed mob storming its capitol a warning shot before mowing people down. Those people should have never been allowed to get anywhere close to climbing walls and breaking windows
217
eXAt88 Mar 30, 2026 +154

31
crozzy89 Mar 30, 2026 +73
No kidding. It seems like people backed off real fast when one of the insurrectionists was shot once inside the building.
73
DReagan47 Mar 30, 2026 +57
One d***** even yelled out “medic” after she got shot like he was playing call of duty or something.
57
AggressiveSkywriting Mar 30, 2026 +35
What's "funny" is that unlike protests coming from the other side, none of those cosplaytriot chuds probably knew what to do in a medical emergency, either. "medic!" is just them passing the buck elsewhere cause they're busy living their vikingspartaroman insecurity fanfic.
35
brobastian0227 Mar 30, 2026 +58
They would mow down you and me if we tried that now. But our side is a little more diverse in age, color, sexuality, etc. They would lose their God damn minds if their were older white people gunned down. The hypocrisy is insane, the police treat MAGA with kid gloves, because most of them agree with and support it
58
TheWolfbytez Mar 30, 2026 +40
The police treat them with kid gloves because they're MAGA too. That's the whole point. Unequal application of the law, you know, just as the justice system was designed.
40
LordTonto Mar 30, 2026 +18
you don't have to argue it, every one of them that could walk the next day is a demonstration that not enough force was used.
18
Muzzlehatch Mar 30, 2026 +34
Most rational people would.
34
OrneryZombie1983 Mar 30, 2026 +7
If they think what happened in Minnesota is an acceptable use of force then that mob that was trying to push through the door where that cop was being crushed should have been shot. Every single one.
7
illusionzmichael Mar 30, 2026 +14
If that mob had been a couple shades darker in skin complexion you can be 100% certain it would have been a blood bath.
14
kentuckywildcats1986 Mar 30, 2026 +25
Neither did Biden's Justice Department. Everyone in that mob, and Trump and his coup conspirators should have been arrested and jailed the day after the new President was sworn in - pending prosecution - with charges including two counts of Felony Murder for the deaths of slain Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick and Ashli Babbitt. Instead, the Biden Administration lead Federal Law Enforcement in going outrageously soft on the terrorist mob, charging most with watered down misdemeanor trespass with no time served, and neither Trump nor any of his collaborators being prosecuted in four years. And that's how you wind up where we are now.
25
Short-Peanut1079 Mar 30, 2026 +18
It's a continuation of being to soft on the south. That war has to many cute names for the horror it was.

I often say to peers, we all went to schools with drop outs, people held back, and so on, and they don't stay there. They grow up, become adults, vote, and have the same internet access we do. Some people absolutely don't grow up, they just get older.
9
SoTiredYouDig Mar 30, 2026 +6
There’s a distinct difference between being grown-up, and acting like an adult. All they’ve done is age. It’s also their only accomplishment.

colemon1991 Mar 30, 2026 +27
The police that were outnumbered? The 174 officers that were injured? They're lucky it didn't become a bloodbath. The amount of sarcasm allowed in that courtroom better be high. "Oh, of course, how could I have missed that? This police officer pinned against a door by five people and wailed on had plenty of time and energy to use excessive force."
27
dible46 Mar 30, 2026 +8

No, this is going to directly payout from our taxes. Trump is spending our money, not his.

Right, from Trump's admin - not from Trump. Just like Michael Flynn was. This is Trump paying out Jan 6 rioters with our tax money.

Theyre constantly spending OUR money on THEIR shit and here we sit, lacking health coverage, social services, etc...All of the things OUR money should be going to but instead we're paying for things like this and $100 million on some a****** pedophiles golf trips.

39
bobosdreams Mar 30, 2026 +15
Why would they? He is corrupt and took bribes. It's well documented. If anyone cares, Clarence Thomas "suggested" that Jack Smith's appointment "maybe" unconstitutional. This view was not shared by other justices. Yet, Aileen Cannon used this as the legal basis to drop the classified doc case. Have you ever heard Trump criticized Thomas or Cannon?

>Dozens of people who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol are suing the federal government, accusing responding officers of using excessive force. The class-action lawsuit, filed in federal court in Florida, alleges U.S. Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department “indiscriminately” fired chemical munitions, pepper spray and other projectiles into a crowd gathered on the Capitol’s west side. These folks overran security forces at the barricades, stormed the building, and were breaking through the doors to gain mob access to members of Congress. This was not a tour, this was an insurrectionist attack on US Government personnel. I really don't know how you can get closer to treason without actually killing a Congress member.
119
RhetoricalOrator Mar 30, 2026 +37
>I really don't know how you can get closer to treason without actually killing a Congress member. I'd bet my last dollar that *who* was killed would make a difference in charges filed. If an insurrectionist killed a Democrat, somebody would end up giving them a participation trophy.
37
doneandtired2014 Mar 30, 2026 +34
In a better timeline, the people breaching the barricades and storming the building would have been dropped exactly where they stood. The fact they not only got off scot-free to the degree they can turn around and demand a cash pay out for getting treated with kids glove is a f****** travesty of justice if there ever was one. Tangentially related: f*** anyone that votes Republican for literally any reason, they are a Nazi. And f*** anyone that couldn't get off of their soap box to vote against them, they're collaborators.
34
Jar545 Mar 30, 2026 +33
Goddamn bastards. They sick their thugs on us, killing, maiming, and gassing peaceful protesters. Now they have a f****** audacity to try to file a claim like this. I'm so f****** angry with all that is going on.
33
xRaynex Mar 30, 2026 +17
While this entire thing is hot shit, I can't help but hope the obvious upcoming bribery is established in precedent. Excessive force by law enforcement getting a fat payout is something legitimate protestors could use as hella ammunition in any other suits.
17
SLUnatic85 Mar 30, 2026 +11
honestly, I don't understand why the capitol police didn't actually use excessive force. I can't think of another instance in US history where we'd have one or any people charge into a federal building in DC making demands and tearing shit up where mass opinion wouldnt've been for a sniper to have taken them out well before they even had a chance to knock on the door. Much less the capitol building while ratifying a presidential election.
11

22
exoriparian Mar 30, 2026 +11
Probably doing it on contingency, knowing it's free money.
11
NOFORPAIN Mar 30, 2026 +70
They dont have to be. They will just fight until it hits a courtroom the DOJ can control into approving to payment. Then MORE of your tax money goes to the poor harmed insurrectionists to pay for them to do it again.
70
NiceSupermarket7724 Mar 30, 2026 +9
True, but someone is financing the legal fees in the first place. Unless the firms are doing it pro bono.
9
Guido900 Mar 30, 2026 +9
Doesn't have to be pro bono. It could be contingency. Knowing this'll likely get paid out in the end due to who is controlling the doj, this would be a smart bet for a lawyer to place. Contingency USUALLY pays better than costs plus fees when the case wins due. In SC, contingency is 1/3 plus costs. If a lawsuit is filed, the percent jumps to 40.

Is that what they are already doing?  The Trump family has extorted and payed themself billions of dollars of taxpayer money.  Accepted many millions in bribes.  They more than tripled the DHS budget so they could grease the hands of their the private military ICE and other contractors.  We are paying for our own oppression and their enrichment. Republicans are evil, and thats not a hyperbole, they are selfish, power hungry twats with no integrity or character.

>30 million I'm sorry to tell you man, but it seems to be a little higher than that. Don't think this will go away when the gray-haired Fox News addicts die off. Tens of millions of American males aged 18-30 thought a podcast comedian telling them who to vote for was more trustworthy source of information than a political scientist or economist.

In all honesty, I don't think they used **enough** force. The rioters never should have gotten into the building in the first place. This is the seat of power for the United States federal government. This should never have happened.

It wasn't a riot, it was an attempted insurrection.

Yeah, and breaking into a federal building to cause absolute mayhem certainly ascends far beyond what an ordinary riot looks like.

No, no, that's what Renee Good and Alex Pretti were doing. Haven't you even been listening to Fox News?

vivalaibanez Mar 30, 2026 +41
Y'all collectively murdered 2 police officers, ya kinda don't have a case after that lol
41
versus_gravity Mar 30, 2026 +62
If this group had been anything other than MAGA trash, the President would have been apoplectic about the police *not* shooting them.
62
Bulevine Mar 30, 2026 +102
Force should have been significantly higher.
102
trydola Mar 30, 2026 +25
lethal really, anyone who broke thru a single window/wall should have taken their last breath there
25
underpaid--sysadmin Mar 30, 2026 +9
Realistically there would have been like 50 Ashley Babbitts if the crowd wasn't a shit ton of white people
9
Mr_Tort_Feasor Mar 30, 2026 +6
They certainly had no problems shooting Miriam Carey five times with her child in the back seat for unintentionally running a security checkpoint at the White House.

BurgeroftheDayz Mar 30, 2026 +27
These traitors are lucky they weren’t mowed down. They stormed the f****** Capitol building.

That’s a wild defense strategy— “when we were committing crimes we were met with excessive force”
232
masnosreme Mar 30, 2026 +95
That statement is entirely valid in principle. Excessive force doesn’t mean no force was warranted or that the victim wasn’t committing an offense, it merely means the amount of force used was not justifiable. In this case, though, the argument is obviously utterly false and disingenuous.
95
elegantjihad Mar 30, 2026 +12
Not that I agree with any the garbage these clowns are trying to pull, but isn't that always the case for excessive force? If someone isn't committing a crime there shouldn't be any force to have an excessive amount. Having excessive force would imply there's an amount that's acceptable.

"Terrorists complain that they were treated unfairly while they attacked the United States Capitol to overthrow democracy and keep a failed reality TV host in power."
22
AlanShore60607 Mar 30, 2026 +24
I personally believe the force was insufficient.
24
wtg2989 Mar 30, 2026 +16
I remember seeing it all happen live on tv that day and my first thought was “oh my God, those people are about to be slaughtered by gunfire.” And then basically zero consequences for any of them looting the f****** Capitol and attacking police and guards. Most unbelievable thing I’ve ever seen to this day. And apparently it’s not done being ridiculous yet.
16
ODShowtime Mar 30, 2026 +6
This is what if feels like to be conquered; the sheer humiliation of losing to the bad guys as they steal and break your things. But the worst is yet to come.
6
ODShowtime Mar 30, 2026 +13
I've seen some ratfucks in my life, but the size and scale and sheer hutzpah of this one takes my breath away. It's illegal to say what must be done.
13
redmambo_no6 Mar 30, 2026 +13
I hope the judge throws it out and tells them to look in a mirror.

Jan6 insurrectionists literally beat the police with flag poles while wearing Trump flags as capes
12
RobCoxxy Mar 30, 2026 +35
Wonder what their opinions on the protestors murdered by ICE are
35
lilyeister Mar 30, 2026 +11
I would assume they believe we need to investigate their families for terrorist ties or something

BREAKING: A judge has already wiped his ass with this lawsuit and flushed it down a toilet

irradiatedcitizen Mar 30, 2026 +15
Not if Aileen “the traitorous future Supreme Court justice” Cannon is assigned the case.
15
Curlybengali Mar 30, 2026 +8
Same people who said Alex Pretti deserved what he got. What a joke.
8
Short_Week3262 Mar 30, 2026 +8
If Trump somehow involves himself in this and awards them money - I will absolutely lose my shit.
8
Status_Discipline_16 Mar 30, 2026 +7
60 years ago these people would have been hung from the gallows.
7
tacticalcraptical Mar 30, 2026 +23
And yet many of these people probably have no problems with the way Renee Good and Alex Pretti were treated by the police.
23
BrothelWaffles Mar 30, 2026 +6
So all the people that got teargassed and beaten by ICE over the past year and a half can sue the government too, right?
6
mrdominoe Mar 30, 2026 +6
Are you f****** kidding me? Conservatives playing the victim card as usual. What a bunch of pussies. They should all be in prison. At the VERY least.
6
BasroilII Mar 30, 2026 +7
The guys armed with guns, zip ties, and explosives are upset about excessive force? I'm upset a single one of them are walking free.
7
TardwifeDyskinesia Mar 30, 2026 +6
Every single Jan 6 participant is a traitor. Every single maga is a traitor AND a pedo worshipper.
6
ThatOneIsSus Mar 30, 2026 +6
Only in America will insurrectionists sue cops for stopping them
6
keenkonggg Mar 31, 2026 +7
Yup this is what happens when a bunch of criminals aren’t held responsible for their actions.
7
QuillQuickcard Mar 30, 2026 +14
The force used was utterly insufficient to the threat. This was a riot and the storming of a government building for the purpose of overthrowing a democratically elected government by preventing it from completing a transitional procedure. The fact a single rioter even got inside the capitol building is a disgrace. The fact one person was shot and killed was a profound mercy. Ironically, in the grand tradition of fascists being absolute idiots, the riot encountered so little resistance that it has been years and people in the fascist circle still can’t settle on if the riots were the act of their supporters or the act of agitators.

Conservatives today choosing between: \> The police let them in with a welcoming hello! \> The police beat them senseless trying to keep them out!
5
EtheusRook Mar 30, 2026 +5
Oh please. If those insurrectionists had been Democrats, the capitol police would have open fired.
5
aflyingsquanch Mar 30, 2026 +4
FFS, these insurrectionists should all be in prison.
4
Alert-Quail-4887 Mar 30, 2026 +4
So what about the protesters trumpy the clown teargassed so he could crawl out of the bunker he was hiding in to take a picture with an upside down Bible? They were just standing there with signs, not attacking police with weapons like the J6 sheep
4
RegularNo2213 Mar 30, 2026 +4
What a f****** joke they committed acts of violence then claim excessive force when violence is done back. By the cops.LMAO.
4
HuTaosTwinTails Mar 30, 2026 +6
Wasn't a riot. It was an insurrection. These are traitors to the country and should be in jail for their lives. Not filing lawsuits to profit off of their treason.
6
AxeSkewsMe Mar 30, 2026 +5
If Capitol police did use excessive force like ICE has, maybe Trump wouldn’t be president right now. Them being reasonable and valuing human life is biting us all in the ass right now.
5
Wasatchbl Mar 30, 2026 +4
Maybe if this actually goes to trial they will start releasing the video from inside showing exactly what was going on.
4
leaonas Mar 31, 2026 +5
The f****** people built gallows and were going to f****** hang / kill the vice president. They were using pepper spray on the police and 20 to 1 attacking them. WTF? Look at the hod damn videos. They did everything in their power to restrain while protecting the people within the Capital. We are living in a god forsaken alternate reality!
5
NoodleFish76 Mar 31, 2026 +6
When I was a kid, I figured if you attacked the Capitol building or White House, gun turrets and rocket launchers would pop up everywhere and lay waste to everything… it’s a terrible feeling when your childhood dreams are smashed by reality.
6
KonataYumi Mar 31, 2026 +4
Terrorist crying police brutality is crazy
4
Professional-Box4153 Mar 30, 2026 +12
Metropolitan Police Officer **Daniel Hodges** would disagree that it was excessive. He was the guy that was being crushed in the doorway while screaming for help. There are also **Brian Sicknick** who died the next day from a stroke, with the medical examiner stating that the day's events likely caused it. Then there are **Howard Liebengood**, **Jeffrey Smith**, **Gunther Hashida**, and **Kyle DeFreytag,** all of whom committed suicide as a result of that day. (Disclaimer: Names provided from a google search of officers who died).

dope_sheet Mar 30, 2026 +4
Oh f*** these assholes. Maybe don't come to a violent insurrection attempt next time you goddamn traitors!!!
4
jertheman43 Mar 30, 2026 +5
Cankles will give them a billion dollars.
5
Karazhan Mar 30, 2026 +4
This ought to get thrown out. On the flip side a great way to get the info on who participated!
4
ZippyScooter Mar 30, 2026 +4
Trump will make sure to have the DOJ fast track it so he can funnel yet more cash out of the government coffers. Grifters just grifting.
4
TheWolfbytez Mar 30, 2026 +4
Meanwhile Brian Sicknick was murdered by these people and his partner couldn't receive a wrongful death charge or settlement in an effort to claw something back. But that treasonous c***'s family gets their check and she gets propped up like some kind of hero. Yeah, they're 100% getting our tax dollars. F****** pieces of shit.
4
allanon1105 Mar 30, 2026 +5
Why would the Capitol police have used excessive force at “basically a tour of the Capitol”? MAGA people are the scum of the earth.
5
Interesting-Prize-79 Mar 30, 2026 +4
We need a way to overturn certain pardons
4
Greenfire32 Mar 30, 2026 +4
The fact that we didn't throw ANYONE in prison for TREASON means enough force wasn't used in the first place.
4
